Not sure if anyone said it but that mineral was selenite, which is a clearish sheet (like micas) version of gypsum... Hope to run into you randomly again on our adventures!
You have become one of the channels that I've watched most in the past couple months Tristan (actually probably the most)! I don't know if its because I'm building a travel trailer and am just into planning for trips or its just your good, cool and calm demeanor... very enjoyable and has given us lots of travel ideas :) thanks!!!! Joe
Awesome, I'm so glad you like the videos! I keep showing my wife your videos about the rainwater harvesting, the chicken coop, greenhouse, etc. Even the feral bees lol. Those are all things we'd like to do someday when we have our own place. And I'm looking forward to seeing you take your trailer out on adventures. Let me know if you have any questions about things to see or do. Thanks Joe! (Also, it's be fun to meet up for an adventure the next time I'm in your neck of the woods, or if you ever find yourself in northern Utah.)
SUV RVing thanks Tristan! Just don’t show her any of the older ones...haha... the video quality goes down a lot in the videos two years and older. And as for meeting up...I’d be game for something like that. We actually plan to take the trailer up to Zion/Bryce and then Mesa verde NP’s when it’s done. Of course that would mostly be family time. But if you’re ever hankering for a kayak trip where we’d need two vehicles for the shuttle...I just might consider that...haha....done a few of those trips and enjoyed them a lot. But sold the kayaks when my daughter was born. (Got plans to make a canoe to replace them😉) Joe
Not many people would understand spending two days looking for inscription or driving/hiking for hours to visit a solitary geological formation but once you do ‘get it’ it becomes a life long passion. Thanks for letting us share in your adventure. Till next trip!
Exactly. It's become a cliché to say that something is more about the journey than the destination, but it really is true in this case. It's more about getting off the beaten path and having an adventure than actually finding the thing.
I prefer exploring without anyone around; however, every so often, especially when looking at rock art, I get an erie feeling and I don't know why. Anyway, you find such treasures during the best non busy times. I love the southwest! I travel more like you do, planning adventures, as opposed to van life but 2 weeks, several times out of the year, that's why I like your channel, it's more realistic for my current lifestyle with my full time corporate career, which ironically I love. As always, thanks for such quality content and footage.
Thanks Deanna! Huh, I never get an eerie feeling when looking at rock art. I love it. And I'm glad you can relate to my traveling style too. Thanks for watching!
Next time you are in Moab, visit Dead Horse Point State Park. Spectacular view of the Colorado River! The real adventure would be to drive on the roads way down in the Canyon that can be seen from Dead Horse Point.
I haven't had good luck being in a national park when it wasn't crowded. I seem to go early on the same day that many others have had the same idea. 😅 Nice camping spot!
The real survivor show, 29 days, and a journey. I really enjoyed your series on this trip. Very inspirational and I can’t wait to see some of those places that you’ve been that I will be adding to my trip along nearly similar route
My favorite part always is to see the joy and peace on your face while you are doing what you love. Specular scenery! I hope you are feeling better and your hip is all healed. Enjoy!
Hi Tristin, I’ve been throughly enjoying your videos! Having lived in The Las Vegas Valley for 20 + years and also Grand Junction Colorado, I’ve been to many of the sites that you have gone, or at least past by them. When we lived in The Las Vegas Valley up until 2011, we would spend almost every weekend exploring the deserts in Nevada, California, Utah, Arizona, and Colorado. I know that you really like Indian Rock Art, and I was wondering if you have gone or heard of Sloan Canyon, in The Las Vegas Valley? We have hiked this canyon 2 times, and there are literally thousands of pictographs and petroglyphs, in this area, in fact it is the largest collection in a single area in the United States. It’s well worth the trip, you won’t be disappointed, and the hike is not to far. It’s kinda in the shadow of Black Mountain which is an extinct volcano. Anyway Thanks agin for the adventures it’s bringing back a lot of great memories! We now live in Wisconsin and have yet to find any rock art, I know that it’s got to be around cause this whole area was all Different Indian tribes and lands at one time.
Enjoyed it all. Yours is one of the few channels i make a point of watching for updates from. I tell others about your ebook often. Thank you. Your trips and the full time vandwelling that I'm planning are world's apart but something about your laid back approach to making your way through your camping days is comforting.
That was a fantastic trip. Really enjoyed everything. It is a beautiful country we live in. I'm thankful for you taking us along and showing us places that we probably wouldn't otherwise see. You do a great job filming and narrating. Thanks again. Looking forward to the next adventure. Davin
I know where some inscriptions are on the San Rafael swell.... they're from the old Spanish dudes the travel down the Spanish Trail.... there's also a game of Indian writings all over in this one particular area I wish I could pass all this information on to you I live down in Arizona now but I'd like to go back up there before I get too old I love what you do got me jealous
Thanks for taking me on this wonderful adventure! I can hardly wait to go back to some of those places. I agree about the desert--it fascinates me, it's so different from home.
You were within a couple opf miles from Sego Canyon Rock art (at the cg) but that's so well known I'm sure you've seen it. There are some ghost town ruins up there too. We stumbled on it one year.
No favourite part - enjoyed all of it! Too bad, the trip is over. I'll be looking out for the next one... Hope, you're well and are recovering speedily.
How in the world do you like the desert????? I love your videos. I am so happy that you get take me on your hiking trips because i think I would hate it. I mean I wouldn't do all that hiking and traveling in the desert. I would much rather explore where there are mountains and trees. Again, though I am happy you are doing it and taking me along so I can explore with you with the comforts of my home.
I grew up in Montana with huge trees and tall mountains. When I was a kid, I remember driving through Nevada with my family to California. I didn't like Nevada very much because it was very flat, brown, and full of sage brush. That is why I don't like central Washington either. It's really boring to drive through.
I'm going to say that aliens is not the answer. I just did a quick search online, and I saw a couple of different thoughts. One was that it's a ceremonial headdress, like you said. Another said that they were horned gods. I personally don't know enough to know what the right answer is, and I'm not sure anyone does.
I'm amazed by the wobble, wind and road noise inside the car (early on the video). Did you have any window open or is this due to the particular track you were on, mic position, is it usual? Haven't noticed it in any of your previous/other videos; nor at the end off road segment. Tnx for sharing, all the best with your full recovery. I hope we see you out and about soon once again.
I was wondering the same thing about the beginning of the video when I was editing it. I think I must have forgotten to roll the windows up. Thanks for watching.
Arches NP is beautiful but a victim of its own success - it's always painfully crowded there. Hinterlands and off-season are only ways to do that park.
The rock art near Dark Angel is about a 2.5 mile one-way hike. No, the visitor center does not share information like the location of rock art or inscriptions. Thanks for watching.
I don't rock climb much on video because you need a parter to climb with, and I'd travel alone. But next week I'll publish a video of me climbing with my brother, so stay tuned.
I don't really "follow" too many. Usually I'm googling something and come across a blog that has info on that thing plus a couple of other things that interest me. Udink.org is one they comes to mind that I keep coming across.
Everybody wants Some! (VH) More people more signs I guess. Funny how the natives drew what they saw in nature and in more modern times we have to have our names all over stuff along with streets and other constructions. Have we become self centered. I don’t know, seems it.
Not sure if anyone said it but that mineral was selenite, which is a clearish sheet (like micas) version of gypsum... Hope to run into you randomly again on our adventures!
Good to know. Thanks!

..yeah I agree..can do without the cartoon character personas you can get on Utube..

That'd be awesome. I love river trips. They're such a relaxing way to travel! Just don't store your canoe outside when hail storms are on their way 😮
Not many people would understand spending two days looking for inscription or driving/hiking for hours to visit a solitary geological formation but once you do ‘get it’ it becomes a life long passion. Thanks for letting us share in your adventure. Till next trip!
Exactly. It's become a cliché to say that something is more about the journey than the destination, but it really is true in this case. It's more about getting off the beaten path and having an adventure than actually finding the thing.
My favorite part was when you found the inscription! Glad I was along for it! VGo home Tristan!❤️🇺🇸😀🚙
I enjoy all ur videos. U show some wonderful places & free camping areas as well.
Thanks Vel!
Thank you for sharing...now get some rest, I'll be watching for your next adventure...
Thanks Betty!
Landscape arch has always looked more delicate to me than delicate arch. I had them backward in my mind for a long time. 🤔🤪
My Grandfather is a French Huguenot, descended from one of the original settling families (patentees) in New Paltz, NY in the late 1600s.

As a former Arches NP Ranger, thank you for not making it easy for everyone to find his signature as it is a guarded secret for obvious reasons.
I tried to see dark angel in August 10-noon, too hot, foolish, no water, but thanks for showing what I missed seeing. Love your videos of travels.
Next time you are in Moab, visit Dead Horse Point State Park. Spectacular view of the Colorado River! The real adventure would be to drive on the roads way down in the Canyon that can be seen from Dead Horse Point.
Watching from Canada & it’s -40 deg C outside. A little jealous of those lizards! Thank you for the sunny trip to Arches. 🥾🏔🇨🇦❤️
I originally found your channel searching for car camping ideas but your travel videos are top notch! Enjoying them very much! 😊
Thanks Nancy! I'm glad you like the videos ☺️
I haven't had good luck being in a national park when it wasn't crowded. I seem to go early on the same day that many others have had the same idea. 😅 Nice camping spot!
Spectacular Utah and you enjoyed it without distractions.
The real survivor show, 29 days, and a journey. I really enjoyed your series on this trip. Very inspirational and I can’t wait to see some of those places that you’ve been that I will be adding to my trip along nearly similar route
Great, I'm happy I could help ☺️
My favorite part always is to see the joy and peace on your face while you are doing what you love. Specular scenery! I hope you are feeling better and your hip is all healed. Enjoy!
Thanks Sue! The hip is still healing, but it's doing really well.
My favorite part was the petroglyphs and the 1847 inscription. Thank you Tristan for sharing your adventures via RUclips!
Thanks for watching them!
Totally found it this weekend. Thanks for the great channel and tips!

I've heard of Sloan Canyon, yes, but haven't been there. It's on my list! Thanks for watching, Karen.

What a beautiful place! Thanks for taking me along! 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱

Thanks Davin. It really is a beautiful country that we live in. And there's just so much to see and do! I appreciate you watching the videos.
Glad you found this
Thank you for a glorious, virtual tour of my favorite part of America also...I absolutely LOVE being able to see these magnificent geological GIFTS!
It's such a great place! I can't wait to go back. Thanks Lizzy ☺️

The desert isn't for everyone, but I love it. It's my favorite place to be. Thanks Mary!
Great video and enjoyed all of it. I have been to Arches and Canyon Lands, what a place. Venture On...
It's such a great place. I'm glad you enjoyed it too. Thanks Robert!
Sorry about the deer " Incident" and you did deserve icecream. Haha. Safe travels home and carry on.
Thanks Donna ☺️
super cool hike, I hope to go there soon. I just wish people would not vandalize precious history :(
Yep, it's unfortunate. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for sharing your trip. I love seeing the wild life. Keep your videos coming.
Don't worry, I will. Thanks for watching!
You were within a couple opf miles from Sego Canyon Rock art (at the cg) but that's so well known I'm sure you've seen it. There are some ghost town ruins up there too. We stumbled on it one year.
Yep, been there 👍
No favourite part - enjoyed all of it! Too bad, the trip is over. I'll be looking out for the next one...

Thanks! Yep, I'm recovering well. I've even been hiking!
What a wonderful trip!! I have enjoyed all the videos. Looking forward to your next adventure. Thanks!
Thanks Carol!
Thanks for all the videos. I hope it's not long before we get to see more.
Saturday 🙂
You have lots of knowledge from reading researching thank you for sharing it..the whole video is great and relaxing...
Thanks Mary!
Great trip thanks for sharing your adventures!
Denee. It's French name. The lizards are Western fence lizards. No fence though.
Enjoyed the entire trip... thank you for sharing your adventures. Looking forward to what you have coming up next!
Thanks Victoria!
I was there on the 1st! Spent three days in Moab mountain biking.
Awesome! It's a great place. Can't wait to go back again.
Well my question is how in the world can you watch a video like this and not see the appeal of the desert?? But hey, to each their own ☺️
I grew up in Montana with huge trees and tall mountains. When I was a kid, I remember driving through Nevada with my family to California. I didn't like Nevada very much because it was very flat, brown, and full of sage brush. That is why I don't like central Washington either. It's really boring to drive through.
Are you going to write a book about Petroglyphs or a new edition of your Arches National Park book?
No, I don't think so. I don't sell enough copies of the book to invest more time into it.
Deer or Elk? Elk is a type of deer. Mule, red, white tail, elk, etc. Deer.
Any speculation as to what the rock art "horned people" represents? Aliens, people in ceremonial headress perhaps? Pretty cool stuff !
I'm going to say that aliens is not the answer. I just did a quick search online, and I saw a couple of different thoughts. One was that it's a ceremonial headdress, like you said. Another said that they were horned gods. I personally don't know enough to know what the right answer is, and I'm not sure anyone does.
Great video!
Thanks!
Loved it. I need to get out there again!
Me too!
I'm amazed by the wobble, wind and road noise inside the car (early on the video). Did you have any window open or is this due to the particular track you were on, mic position, is it usual? It's a beautiful area.
Yes it really is. Thanks Mary.
Congratulations!!!
thank you for this.
Thanks for watching, John.
Love the videos, keep it up.
Will do!
Great trip! What app do you use to see how far you've hiked and is to use for GPS so you don't get lost?
It's called Gaia GPS. Great app!
Arches NP is beautiful but a victim of its own success - it's always painfully crowded there. Hinterlands and off-season are only ways to do that park.
I think that early mornings and right before sunset are good times too. Very few people, especially early mornings.
How far in is the rock art? Also does the visitor center have the coordinates for the inscription you’re looking for?
The rock art near Dark Angel is about a 2.5 mile one-way hike. No, the visitor center does not share information like the location of rock art or inscriptions. Thanks for watching.
Does your hip stop you from rock climbing? We don’t get to see you do that.
I don't rock climb much on video because you need a parter to climb with, and I'd travel alone. But next week I'll publish a video of me climbing with my brother, so stay tuned.
..jeez..that French-Canadian guy was 72 when he inscribed that..
Wow, impressive!
Fur trappers were a hardy breed and this one intended to be remembered!
I would love to camp Moab some day. Check out my Colorado adventures
It's a beautiful place. You'll love it. Thanks for watching!
What are some of the blogs you follow to find these locations?
I don't really "follow" too many. Usually I'm googling something and come across a blog that has info on that thing plus a couple of other things that interest me. Udink.org is one they comes to mind that I keep coming across.
Everybody wants Some! (VH) More people more signs I guess. Funny how the natives drew what they saw in nature and in more modern times we have to have our names all over stuff along with streets and other constructions. Have we become self centered. I don’t know, seems it.
Definitely could be the case. I'm not sure. But thanks for watching and commenting!
👍👍
Shouldn't be showing the idiots' vandalism on your videos. May encourage other idiots to do the same, to see their name and "work" on RUclips.
Or it could help them realize that other people think they're idiots. I don't think showing it does any harm.
At least blot out their names. You can still say what you think about them, without giving them attention that they crave.
