- Itachi Uchiha is surprisingly Underrated in some real sense impart to firstly: an old consensus that he was way too strong and secondly; people who only follow the newer consensus that Itachi is barely scraping by among the top of the akatsuki and world at large when that’s simply not the case, Itachi is just as deserving if not more so, than anyone else in the akatsuki to be in the conversation for the strongest. I think the hardest part about itachi fights are that the vast majority of the cast has no anti-genjutsu feats, so you either have to give itachi the win by default or just sort of headcanon counters or assume every character knows how to fight without looking at itachi's eyes.

Exactly! Everyone has their favorite characters, everyone glazes some characters while lowballing others, everyone has their own preferences and views of the story and that's completely fine. This applies to every anime/manga/show/piece of fiction. I think if the anime community as a whole came to this conclusion and just accepted that everyone can have their favorites and their own views, we'd be a lot more chill.

Reading the conversion Itachi has with Obito makes it pretty clear that Itachi and Obito are relative at that point. The fact that Kishimoto supervises this and approves of it is also more than enough to consider it as good supplementary material.
Itachi kinda wants the smoke with the guy, I was taken aback reading it and also watching this video. He seems to be certain he has a way of defeating Obito.
Perhaps later on Obito takes the edge because Itachi's illness was a huge nerf. Where he lacks in stamina, he makes up for in intelligence. A fight between the two would definitely be close

Itachi is one of the most Unique, Authentic and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series.) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick than most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can some of you guys even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totuska Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷🏻♂️ Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you during that time in the real world (or he can use an Explosive Clone to approach you without you even realizing it in time and he can pretty much finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? He makes it so that advantage never happened. Kotoamatsukami - Though Shisui's technique, Itachi has his eye which effectively makes it his weapon. A genjutsu so powerful that the person it's cast on doesn't even know they're under a genjutsu. Like the Tsukuyomi, completely OP. To add to all of this, Itachi is pretty good at hand to hand combat, is great with shuriken, is extremely fast, is great with regular fire techniques, is slippery and unpredictable, and has the extremely dangerous and fast Genjutsu style of fighting approach that can caught you off guard almost at any time. With all of these things considered you've got one dangerous ninja. Lastly but not least Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. When Itachi Uchiha awakened his Susano'o, he was seen wielding legendary weapons of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The former allowed Itachi to seal anyone he pierced in a world of genjutsu forever, while the latter gave him the ability to deflect any and all attacks thrown towards him, regardless of whether they were physical or spiritual in nature. According to Zetsu (who was around since the period of Kaguya time era until the present of Naruto) he state it in the anime and also in the manga that these weapons, when combined with his Susano'o, made Itachi Invincible. This is why Kishimoto basically had to give him a handicap: Naruto AIDS. 🤷🏻♂️ ☯️
Itachi has jutsu, strength, and taijutsu feats and statements that people ignore. Itachi was a legend AS A KID before he awakened his sharingan. Yet fools say that he's fodder without it 🤦♂
I thought that I was the only one saying this but he's like Goku and Rengoku in the sense that some people overrated him on instagram posts for clocks and now he's overhated and downplayed. The fact that alive Itachi is above MS Sasuke, Kisame, Bee and Ay says enough. If he was a hax only one trick pony then it would be stated blantantly like Danzo or fodder movie characters.
People ignore the fact that a lot of characters scale to their hax. People stronger than Itachi is not losing to him with his Tsukuyomi and people weaker isn't beating him without it. That's literally how it goes.
The third databook actually calls the Mangekyo sharingan itself(pointing to itachis eyes) as the strongest dojutsu with further mastery(which forms susanoo) helps to enter the realm of gods.
So he is going beyond the strongest dojutsu even by chapter 402 but potentially beyond.
The fanbook statement is actually talking about the susanoo itself as the ultimate absolute defense as sasuke is also a listed user.
So even without spirit weapons it is the ultimate absolute defense something reiterated in road to ninjas guidebook.
This all is consistent with, the same fanbook in narration of sasukes story just says itachis power surpasses everything which covers till the kage summit.
Zetsu describes him with spirit weapons as completely invincible.
Even the quiz book which is relased after chapter 700 still says the shield repels everything that attacks caster so the true limits of the spirit weapons are unknown so far.
Also itachi did go into a higher susanoo form for yasaka. Fourth databook even says he needs to go into that form to activate yasaka.
Yasaka is his strongest long range ninjutsu although amaterasu is described as a short range technique. So amaterasu might be >yasaka as kabuto still considers it the greatest attack after everything that happened in that fight.
And he took the test younger than minato way younger and the forest of death he had more potential than a lot of ppl

I really like the point you made about EMS Sasuke and Itachi being equal in the narrative. I also like your comparison of sage Jiraya and Hydra Orochimaru. I think you also did a good job explaining a potential perspective of photo being worried of or afraid of a fight with Itachi. I think that not many people make that argument. I think Nagato, Obito, and Itachi are a difficult trio to compare. Good video.

Itachi IS underrated. I have studied his moves from every single episode of his appearance, also the ultimate ninja games. His speed is incredible and his chakra control is on par with the hokages. He can outmatch any opponent physically and has hax moves. Unless you are madara or hashirama you are not beating him 1v1.

I've always thought he was in a tier with the likes of nagato, pain, obito, minato and so on because of his hax. I think the fight against minato is much more close than ppl tend to think because of itachi's abillity to deflect minato's kunai with his own, making it significantly harder for minato to teleport in the way he would want to. I don't know whether Itachi would have been able to defeat a later Obito, and if so it's more likely because Itachi simply has a high level of combat intelligence that many people seem to underestimate. Because I think Itachi is not only damn strong, but he is also someone who can quickly read his opponents and quickly find solutions, just like Minato. And that is a disadvantage for every opponent. And I personally think that it's not just skills that are crucial, but also combat intelligence. And Itachi simply has both at the highest level. And I agree, first of all, Itachi wasn't 100% healthy later and also that he never fought with a killer instinct and therefore never went all out in fights. And despite the fact that he never used all of his power, he quickly made it clear to very strong opponents who was the boss. And many big names only had respectful words for him, which says enough to know that Itachi was ultra strong. In any case, I wouldn't underestimate Itachi no matter who the opponent is...that would be a mistake

To make things interesting they subconsciously cut out how unavoidable and lethal his genjutsu is
And downplay the other MS techniques and his stats to make it even remotely possible for his opponent
The only reason Itachi does as well as he does against kabuto is because he is an edo.
If you put him at gis peak alive dude has two Tsykumoi's and two amaterasu's with some susanno use before he just goes blind. Its just a waiting game to out last his eyes which is relatively easy if you scale to him physically like Obito does

@@jiero3253 YOU DO KNOW, he had to hold back not to kill kabuto. He even tells Sasuke not to and blocks one of his moves in the beginning. That fight would end much quicker. And again, itachi stamina is downplayed. He used (spammed) Amaterasu, sussanoo, and tsukoyomi on Sasuke and still was walking up on him in the end enough to do his signature move in Sasuke.

As far as kabuto is concerned, he literally was trying to talk kabuto down before even attempting the izanami for one. And two, he was trying to redo the edo tensei, which did not need or cause for him to hold back on killing him. Because he would just come back to life. The person kabuto was holding back on was actually Sasuke, because then he would be breaking the deal. And itachi would have reacted differently had they been trying to kill him, on top of itachi saving sasuke plenty of times.
Lotta Mickey Mouse arguments like that chibaku tensei point in this video, but anyone who says itachi is weaker than kisame is insane.

Not the best at articulating my thoughts relating to power scaling but I just fail to see how Itachi requesting bee and Naruto’s help in destroying the CT can be interpreted in any way other than he needed their help. Claiming anything other than that is a massive reach that I don’t think has any grounds to stand on. That’s definitely not what the author was trying to convey by having 3 people throw their strongest jutsu at the sphere.
@@Virhtue a problem I run into with all of these videos and discussions is everything people see or hear being interpreted hyper literally. People will cherry pick what feats they want to apply along with claims that take literal mental gymnastics to rationalize onto their takes. Whatever suits your narrative at the end of the day I guess. Interpreting the material differently is fine but it becomes ridiculous when these statements and showings are made out to be so much more than they are.

39:12 GREAT video. i believe you have firmly proven Itachi to be the force to be reckoned with, that he was always meant to be. now there's something i'm confused about. the Edo Itachi section. my understanding was, Edo Tensei revived someone at the point of death. but Kabuto could later work on them. using their cells or soul directly. to me, it would make sense that he work on both Itachi and Nagato. he brought Itachi back without disease or blindness, and Nagato back with the Rinnegan. and the reason his wouldn't give Nagato his physical strength back is because he knew it would be unnecessary. since at any point he could just take over his body directly, absorb chakra via the Preta Path, and return his physical strength that way. which is exactly what he does.
so i think the reason he didn't use his spirit weapons in version 2 Susanoo is because he didn't think it was necessary. not because he lacked mastery. and the reason he used them in version 3 to seal away Nagato, was because he found it necessary due to the extra range and power provided by the version 3 Susanoo. not due to lack of mastery. i do believe this is consistent, and doesn't undermine your scaling nor the story.
iirc, Kabuto said Madara was the only Edo Tensei he worked on extensively. key word being **extensively.** this doesn't mean he didn't work on any others. he knew that Madara was his ace, so of course it makes sense that he would work on him and his body the most.

The fundamental problem is that the rules for Mangekyō Sharingan and ESPECIALLY Susano’o (including the unique Spirit Weapons on Itachi’s Susano’o) were never really set in stone. Specifically, due to inconsistent sizing on the Susano’o and the lack of clear guidelines on it (as well as the things that various Susano’o canonically fought against), it follows that characters’ power levels at various stages of Susano’o development and with various tiers of dojutsu make no sense. Basically Itachi’s Armored Susano’o was drawn too small (especially as we now know the purpose of the forehead jewel on the Armored and Perfect Susano’o (to house the user), and we know that the Perfect Susano’o is basically the Armored Susano’o but with its chakra stabilized). Basically the heights for Armored and Perfect Susano’o should be the same, but with the Armored Susano’o being bulkier and using its larger secondary arms (which transform into wings on the Perfect Susano’o)-and while this doesn’t fit with how Itachi’s Susano’o was drawn in certain frames (or how Susano’o was originally depicted in general), it DOES make sense if we assume that each of the 8 snakes of Orochimaru’s 8-Headed Hydra form is the size of Manda/Aoda (this would also more closely match the intent behind Orochimaru having this form, as it is his equivalent to Sage Jiraiya with ALL of Mount Myoboku backing him and would imply him to be at least as powerful as said version of Jiraiya). Given that Itachi’s Armored Susano’o is supposed to be relatively similar in size to the 8-Headed Hydra, it follows that if each of the 8 heads of the hydra is the size of Manda’s (and if the forehead jewel is supposed to house the user), then Itachi’s Armored Susano’o would be roughly the same height as your STANDARD Perfect Susano’o, at about 135-180 meters tall (Edo Madara’s being larger makes sense due to the Hashirama Cells in his body as well as Edo Tenseis having infinite chakra, however EMS Madara’s doesn’t really make sense given that while EMS may lower the chakra cost, it would not lower it by enough to justify a 10x size increase, as seen with EMS Sasuke). Basically if I were to scale the Susano’o and make rules for Armored and Perfect Susano’o sizes, here is what I would do (as standard):
With MS/EMS: 170m (to top of head)
With 6 Tomoe Rinnegan (x1): 340m (to top of head)
With Rinnegan (x2): 680m (to top of head)
With Rinnegan+Senjutsu or 6 Tomoe Rinnegan (x2): 1360m (to top of head)
With 9 Tomoe Rinnesharingan (x1): 5440m (to top of head)
With 9 Tomoe Rinnesharingan (x2): 21760m (to top of head)
Note: This only applies for the original user’s Susano’o (and said user can create a smaller Armored/Perfect Susano’o). If the user can create Shadow/Wood/Limbo Clones, then said clones can theoretically create their own Susano’o, albeit at smaller sizes.

I still have a legitimately hard time saying who wins when it comes to Pain vs Itachi.
Itachi has insane edo feats, but Kabuto just didn’t use Nagito as well as Nagito would’ve. This muddies the waters and makes it hard to tell what is Nagito’s upper limits.
Oh, and my usual disagreement with the Sasuke perception blitzing Sakura and Naruto lol.
Let me try to explain my reasoning better though. I don’t disagree that it was a blitz and Sasuke is faster than them.
I just think it’s important to realize the context of everything. Sakura and Naruto. Physically and mentally fatigued because of the nine tails. Furthermore, the two of them were under significant psychological stress from seeing this Sasuke. Imagine seeing your childhood friend and not being able to recognize him anymore, or get through to him.
It’s because of all this that I don’t think either of them were able to properly perceive things.
So this makes the conclusion that Sasuke could blitz other akatsuki members shaky. He could overwhelm them with his speed and put them on the back foot, but they would be able to react a bit and overcome the speed disadvantage with distance and numbers.

Amateratsu was made a joke later in the series, but originally it was beyond busted.
Itachi originally had the ability to blink away whatever with the jutsu. After its very first use it was never used to the same way again.
It had to get nerfed. The Ultimate Ninja game series showcases the jutsu with its original capabilities intact.

Okay my honest take, and no disrespect to Vihtue. I respectfully disagree with a lot of this.
First of all, the "Strongest man in the Akatsuki" statement I believe to be about Pain. Why? Because Pain simply has more impressive feats. I would have to be shown the equitable feats from alive Itachi, of Pain walking into the Leaf Village with no intel and beating everyone, then fighting Naruto and beating him THEN going on to revive everyone he killed. You might say Itachi held back the entire time we saw him. Okay then can't I say the same thing about Pain? If Pains mission was to kill Naruto, it's over immediately. You'd have to argue to me that Itachi has the charka to walk into the leaf village and beat everyone there and still have the ability to fight Naruto as well. Pain is clearly stronger than Itachi in terms of raw power.

I always ask Itachi fans, why can't his Susanoo be absorbed by the Preta path? Is it not a chakra construct? Is it special Nature energy? The same databook you referenced clearly states: "Every jutsu regardless of it's chakra properties is sucked away" Every time I ask this, I never get a real answer. Preta path should be able to just absorb the Susanoo. If Pain can absorb Itachis Susanoo the fight is over. Concerning Tsukyomi, it's not the "strongest genjutsu" it's "feared to be the strongest genjutsu" those are two widly diffrent things.
As far as the "Invincible" terminology, when it comes to characters it obviously means nothing. No one in Naruto is "invincible".
As far as the overall Itachi vs Pain debate. I don't think it's really a debate...
Pain simply has way more ways of killing Itachi than Itachi does of "killing" Pain. Itachis only real win con is Totsuka blade and that MIGHT not even work because how do you "seal" the soul of a dead body?! That's also assuming Pain didn't just absorb his Susanoo to begin with.

Itachi simply outscales Pain by way too much. Itachi can box with KCM Naruto and Killer Bee while the Deva path was struggling to fight sage Naruto. The other paths didn't stand a chance in taijutsu, so Pain is 100% getting speed blitzed. We've seen that the paths can be affected by genjutsu and amaterasu hard counters the summons to boot. The best evidence we have for the Preta path not being able to absorb away the susano'o is the fact that Itachi's susano'o ribcage pimp slapped Nagato and then Itachi blitzed him with the totsuka blade

well obito has better feats in general being able to hold off kcm naruto, killer bee, kakashi, and guy at the same time(while protecting the geto statue not even actually trying to beat them).he’s also more experienced.
The biggest reason however is the fact that kamui is a direct counter to everything itachi has in his bag.
The susanoo and the special sealing blade he has is useless against obito since he can phase through it. We already know obito can just absorb amatarasu with kamui. He can summon the geto statue to help him jump itachi if he wants.
His special zetsu arm makes him physically stronger then itachi. He is most likely faster cuz of kamui. His reaction speed is obviously better, even tho obito only has one eye his singular eye has better vision then itachi’s two eyes cuz of sharingon strain. And without prep time i cant see itachi really doing anything to him.
Obito also has hashirama cells, meaning despite it being inconsistent we know he can use wood style and heal himself whenever he wants and we have seen him do both these things a few times
Now for Tsukyomi Obito is also a high genjutsu specialist in his own right him being able to break a tsukyomei isn’t far fetched. But since we have no evidence he can just do that ima propose a different alternative incase he cant do that. He can use his borrowed sharingon and use izanagi to escape instantly if he really cant break tsukyomei and kill itachi before itachi can counter with his own izanagi
Taking all these things in consideration i believe obito would win especially since he has knows everything abt itachi while itachi knows really nothing abt him besides kamui.

Everyone else was fodder. He didn't even fight Tsunada (although he would have won). He mid diffed Jiraya and almost lost to Frog Song. He beat Sage Naruto sure but again not easily. Itachi when 99.9% dead and blind no diffed the strongest Sanin in the strongest form after Chakra fatiguing Hebi Sasuke. They aren't the same caliber at all.
Danzō's consistent praise of Itachi is partially a farce to place Itachi in a position for him to use him to self-destruct the Uchiha, so it might not be able to be taken as entirely legitimate. Though he did honestly respect him, it is questionable if he really saw him as more talented as Hiruzen or Kakashi when they graduated, for example.
The link betwixt Sasuke to Sasori is a bit dubious given Sakura could have been potentially mentally amplified against Sasori, and mentally supressed against Sasuke, in addition to Sasori underestimating/holding back against Sakura at points, whilst he likely fought more seriously against Sandaime Kazekage.
The second Amaterasu might just be a fireball tracking his line of sight. Essentially he makes one ball of fire which is then dragged along by his focal point (so yes, it could likely scorch an entire line). Further impressive, then, when one realizes it likely would have been easier to hit Sasuke if he were not specifically aiming for his wing.
Itachi had more than just the ribcage. Parts of the skeleton were starting to form which would be a slightly higher stage of development than Sasuke's against the Raikage.
The comparison to the Earth Spear seems disingenuous when it is noted it was primarily pierced by Kakashi due to an elemental disadvantage.
Sasuke is noted to have superior dōjutsu to Itachi after gaining Eternal Mangekyō, so his Amaterasu (a sort of dōjutsu) might surpass Itachi's Susanoo (unclear if Amaterasu gets stronger with the user or not, but is a line one could use).
That Itachi was beating the >Sannin Orochimaru to a greater degree than Pain was beating a >Sannin Jiraiya could just indicate that Jiraiya's >Sannin boost is greater than Orochimaru's, Pain was holding back (imagine if he just attacked with all six paths at once), or so on. There is not exactly a comparison betwixt the >Sannin incarnations of the Sannin, aside from the fact they have all interesting/strange powers, so they might not be equal, anymore. To add consistency, Orochimaru is still seeking out Sage Mode even after the Fourth Shinobi World War, with him praising Mitsuki as having power beyond himself, later revealing that power is Sage Mode/Transformation. Id est, the Jiraiya, Pain, Itachi, Orochimaru comparison does not exactly paint Itachi > Pain, off of itself, inherently.
The Mangekyō does not give Itachi more chakra. It allows him to pour out more chakra for jutsu/genjutsu, and also drains more passively, so really it gives him less. Two genjutsu (one not even from the Sharingan) and a single Fireball from a 30% clone is quite reasonable, going off of the manga alone. He was not really beating Kakashi, either.
Itachi did not use the Phoenix Sage Fire against B. He used the Phoenix Sage Flower Crimson Nail, which is more advanced.
19:35 Itachi is literally sweating on the right page being shown here, with him noting he is exhausted and will need to rest his body... So using two Mangekyō was his limit (he could have killed Jiraiya without Mangekyō at all, though, of course).
Naruto Jinraiden lines up fine with canon, though it is a bit vague on how Itachi took it the medication, given Sasuke's usage of the eyedrops was more for his developing Mangekyō rather than any illness. The events of Naruto Jinraiden are also referenced in Kakashi Hiden, which itself ties into the canon version of the Blood Prison seen in the Boruto anime and mentioned in the Boruto manga, the introduction of the airships seen commonly in the New Era, and the introduction of Kakashi's Shiden (Purple Lightning) which is seen used by him in the anime, and by Mitsuki and Boruto in the manga.
It is possible the Edo Tensei just restored some of the physical damage to Itachi's body, similarly to Kimimaro, instead of pulling him back in time for his revival. Same result, though.
I think he just wanted/felt he needed to use the Armored Susanoo against Nagato when he had unlimited stamina rather than being arbitrarily weaker...
Itachi needed to blind Nagato's peripheral vision, first, suggesting Nagato would have reacted if he saw Itachi coming, indicating Itachi is not substantially faster otherwise.
The humanoid Susanoo is more developed than the skeletal Susanoo, and it is not said each shinobi contributed a third. If Naruto and B are 90%, the Chibaku is 100%, Itachi could be 10%, even if with four magatama he is closer to 15% (not concrete numbers, but the point stands it is not really known for certain).
As said previously, Sasuke is actually said to surpass Itachi's genjutsu and dōjutsu, but as noted by Zetsu, Itachi is more intelligent, so his quick-thinking might even it out with snap decisions.
The Zetsu on Sasuke are not enhancing him. They are spores for watching him. Even if they were enhancing him, Sasuke got much stronger even without them due to his growing hatred, when he was already possessing superior dōjutsu to Itachi beforehand.
If Sasuke is stronger than Itachi, the scaling to Naruto is not really valid for Itachi. And, in relation to fighting a weakened Kyūbi Mode, Itachi going into Mangekyō would not have made him stronger. Shisui only said it could pour out more chakra for jutsu, not that it literally multiplies the user's chakra, and further, Jigen noted Sasuke was going all out when he still had three-tomoe Sharingan, substantiating it is not a power-up.
Not relevant to the point, but in relation to Itachi Shinden expanding on a manga scene, Naruto Jinraiden does that as well, both with Obito and Sasuke conversing in the Mountains Graveyard shortly before Sasuke leaves, and also the scene upon the cliffside that Sasuke renames Hebi into Taka, under. So if Jinraiden is dubiously not canon, by that logic, neither should Shinden.
That Obito saw Itachi as an opponent does not mean they were close. There can be unequal opponents. Obito also had utilitarian reasons to honour his agreement. By keeping to his word, he got to use Itachi as an asset for many years to, for example, help with the sealing of the bijū, and was also getting ready to get Sasuke to replace Itachi. All he had to do was wait for Itachi to die, which he knew was going to happen anyway, and Konoha needs to be targeted last, regardless, since Kurama is the last to be sealed. Conversely, if he did make Itachi an enemy, and even if he killed him, he would lose him as an asset prematurely and might not get Sasuke as a replacement. Ergo, Konoha not being "off limits" could jsut mean the pact has run its course for his own benefit, rather than Itachi being able to actually stop him.
Konan almost killed Obito with abilities far beyond her regular means, and if she knew about Izanagi, could have possibly actually killed him, but it does not mean she scales to him normally, and the same logic can apply to Itachi. In turn, does not really mean Itachi is inherently stronger than Pain (I think Itachi would beat Pain, but I think he would be forced to use up at least one eye altogether.)
One of the Storm games (at least, I think it is a Storm game) insinuates Itachi was forced to retreat from Jiraiya, so they are not exactly reliable in that sense.
Tsukuyomi's description is contingent on the target actually being caught/dragged in, which Obito would likely not succumb into to begin with, and the spirit weapons would likely not be able to find their mark on Obito, either, who can also lacks physical form/can vanish even faster than Dust Release can explode.
If Kishimoto did write the weekly statements, I think it was intentionally ambiguous to lead to a three-way deadlock betwixt the three dōjutsu users of the Akatsuki. Even if it was explicitly referring to Pain, though, in that context, I think it could be referring to raw power instead of the typical definition of power in Naruto, being combat ability, (Pain can withstand two Rinnegan, which even Obito cannot), so it does not really say Pain is more combatively viable in that interpretation, either way.
I think Itachi is in contention for second strongest in the Akatsuki after Obito, and just about even to some version of Kyūbi Mode, but I think he caps out near there. Minato is stated to be stronger than him and everyone else in Part I, for example, and even with revelations of Itachi's true power in Part II, I feel that comparison still holds. Definitely above the >Sannin tier and in turn the 1% of the shinobi world, though.

I think it was blatantly implied that itachi had one of the greatest talents and potential in the whole series. pain and obito might be stronger but itachi can potentially find a way to beat anyone including minato, obito or nagato. he is in their tier only below the likes of hashirama and madara lvls, where the difference in power is too great to compensate with skill intelligence and the firepower itachi possesses

I still don't think Itachi is above Pain. Itachi's strengths lie in tackling monstrous foes rather than exhibiting bestial qualities. That's what he implies when he says to Tobi that he will kill him no matter what. He doesn't know his full strength at this point, but he doesn't care since he firmly believes that every technique has its weakness. Though it doesn't mean he is stronger than Tobi or that he would've actually killed him.

Knowing how to counter a jutsu and actually countering a jutsu are two different things. Itachi does not have the speed to bypass kamui he’s not fast enough and his fastest attack Amaterasu is slower than raikage who’s slower than kcm Naruto, and kcm Naruto plus the help of 3 other kage level shinobi couldnt counter kamui. On top of that Amaterasu literally failed to off guard kamui when itachi placed that trap.
