Absolutely beautiful! I'm glad to see the fished quilt and bonus project(s). Thanks for shouting out Donna, she has inspired me with hundreds of her videos. Many blessings to you!
Michelle, I loved how you sewed fabric together to get the pieces for the second quilt. That's what our Grandmas and Great-Grandmas did. It is literally the purpose behind quilting. They did not take new fabric and cut it up like we do, but took leftovers and sewed it together instead. Your quilt is beautiful. Love all of Donna Jordan's patterns. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Michelle, don’t you love it when a plan comes together! And I don’t know why, but I love watching people make something out of nothing by sewing two bits of fabric together and using every little bit. It’s really satisfying, and I have no idea why.
Great job!!! love what you've done with Donna's pattern. So pleased you give credit to her patterns. She is generous with her free patterns and you did an amazing job with this one!
Hi Michelle! I love your channel! Your style of teaching is amazing! You are very clear with your verbal instructions as well as the visuals!! I never thought I could sew the kaleidoscope quilt but now I’m looking forward to making one! Your quilts are all beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge with us. I appreciate it!
Love this, Michelle! Sometimes we just swerve off the road a bit, don’t we! Last time, as I watched, I said “make a harlequin!” I guess you heard me! 😀 I’m planning a kaleidoscope quilt in Civil War reproduction fabrics. I have a Burgoyne Surrounded in the works; and then the leftovers will turn into the kaleidoscope. I think it will be fun! Your harlequin quilt was fun, too, and so are these! 🪡🥰
Making your corner squares a bit larger and trimming is a great tip. I know as careful as I am, my seam allowance is not as accurate as I would like! I've seen this pattern and I think I need to add it to my list for this year 🙂 Thank you for another great video!!
Great job. I watch all Donna’s videos and that pattern has been on my to do list since I first saw it. You have given me new inspiration. Thank you Michelle.
Oh how I loved ALL yours quilts!!! I really liked the look of the dark corners, too! I like your tip on making the corner squares a little big. No matter what quarter inch foot I use, I will always be about an eighth inch off. I figure if all my blocks are like that, it will turn out. So far they have. *knock wood* I have yet to make this pattern, but after watching you, I think I really must try it soon! Thank you for your tutorial and showing your lovely quilts!
OMG, I have the exact same problem with my corner pieces sometimes falling short. Thank you so much for sharing your tip to upsize and then square down. My blocks are much better now. THANK YOU!!!!
Good one Michelle. Nice clear easy instructions (as usual) and tips. Makes me want to drop all my ongoing projects and make one! But for now I’m resisting. Happy to come back to it at a later date though. Thanks for sharing.
I love that you are so honest and real (and normal!) about your quilting mistakes, thank you for that. It’s fascinating that you made mistakes the second and third time but the block still produces a coherent and beautiful quilt. I actually like no 2 best, with the dark corners. I have had this quilt in my queue for a while and when I make it I will do it with dark corners like you did. So impressed with how you got the most out of the spare pieces 👏👏
Great job!! I absolutely love all the quilts. I have made this pattern as well, like you I found it better to make corner triangles a little bigger to have something to trim down. Thanks for sharing another video. It’s always a pleasure to watch you. Keep up the good work. 😊
I loved this pattern from Donna Jordan but haven’t made the quilt yet. I totally agree with adding a little extra fabric to trim taking the stress out of it. Your quilt turned out beautifully with great colours. I’m really learning a lot from your channel. Thank you.
You always live up to your bits and pieces title by working out how to use as much of the fabrics as you can. If you didn’t point out the seams together pieces the eye would look over them. I love all you quilts from this pattern “right or wrong” when they are this lovely they are never wrong. I am privileged to own a few scrappy antique quilts and when you sit and look closely they put together all kinds of unmatched scraps to get the shape. Your tips, tricks and strategies are as always spot on.
HI Michelle! Great video and great instructions. I have this ruler, and a fat quarter bundle of southwest-style fabrics (a lot of turquoise, rust and gold) that I've had for literally YEARS, and I'm going to start on this, based on your inspiration! (One of many Donna Jordan patterns that I've made over the years.) I have 3 clappers and I use them all the time. I first learned about them from Nancy Zieman years ago, and I wouldn't be without them!
I've had this pattern on my radar for a while and have even pulled fabrics. Your video was very helpful - especially the tip to cut the triangles just a tad bigger. Thank you! Now I'm itching to get started! All the variations turned out beautifully.
Not mistakes it’s creative license! My son made me 2 clappers for a Christmas present and having 2 is perfect. Currently working on a log cabin quilt, yep I’ll be cobbling some fabric together for some of the logs!
I absolutely LOVE how you pieced the fabric scraps for the baby quilt!! Definitely a throwback to what our quilting predecessors did! Beautiful kaleidoscope quilt :-)
This is such a lovely quilt pattern!! I just printed Donna's pattern; Maybe i can get to making one of these this year??? Here;s hoping!!! Thanks for sharing all the tips & tricks that make SEW much sense!!! xoxo e. N. B. 🇨🇦
Clappers are the bomb!! Once I fell in love with mine, I bought two more so it's not the slow point in the whole process. By the time I get to the fourth piece to be pressed, the first is cool and ready to be rotated out (if they're really small, you can get six under the clappers before rotating the first out).
When moving clapper to next seam turn over so “cold” side is down each time it’s used. That is what I was taught. The colors of your fabric is beautiful
Love it, and the tips along the way (my sewing is a little off sometimes too). Would you please show us the teal/green one when you get it completed. I'd love to see it made up, the colours were amazing. 😊
This is absolutely beautiful especially in these colors Michelle. Thanks for the tips! I'm anxious to start mine (I chose oranges and reds) after I finish the one I'm working on now. I like that you showed the different ones you made. I would not call them mistakes as they all look great and I had been curious to what they would look like with slight color changes so you answered that for me. Have a great day!
This was great seeing all of your variations. I quite like the Kaleidoscope with the dark corners-the illusionary circles were immediately clear enough for me! The piecing of the baby quilt triangles reminds me of a quilt top I have from my grandmother made in the mid 1960's out of old family clothing. Videos of quilters that are exciting to see are from you, Donna and Jessica Dayon. Thank you for sharing tour projects and your discussions.
Do you think you could cut a kite shape for the white sections? That way, you don’t have the step of adding the corners. I think it might be worth a try.
often I add to corner triangles for this reason. I had issues with getting a good 1/4" seam allowance for 30 years yes 30 years until a Janome instructor said in one YT video to move the needle over. OMG! really? why didn't my manual or others ever say that. Anyway, try moving your needle over 2 clicks to the right and measure. crazy simple to get my perfect 1/4". I love my clappers have had two for many years and simply will not press without them. BTW I found myself using 'bits and pieces' yesterday to make a baby quilt 6 blocks larger, I added 1 more row. yea
My friends always hear me say "the baby won't care", they'll do biological functions on my imperfect quilt as well as on someone else's perfect one and be just as comforted.
Love both quilts and will use your 'mcgiver'd" (Thank you kellybauer for a new to me quilting term🥰) use this method when I get stuck for extra material.🥰🥰

I agree totally about making corner triangles a bit bigger…makes squaring up SO much easier!
Thanks Susanne!
Lots of beautiful creations! Thank you😊

Both projects are awesome. I love that you immediately mcgiver'd the leftovers into a 2nd project!
Can’t waste those bits & pieces!! Thanks for watching Kelly.
Turned out beautiful. Love all your fun material. Thanks for all the tips and tricks, love your great instructions. Have a wonderful week ahead!

Thank you for another great video!!
That looks great! I like the "mistakes" too though!
Lovely quilts. The fabrics are delicious.
You encouraged me to give this pattern a try. I never did a kaleidoscope quilt before. Great tutorial!
Beautiful quilt 🎉 I love clappers, use them all the time. ❤

All of your Kaleidoscope quilts are going to be beautiful.
Thanks Arvetta!
Just love your colours. Looks wonderful. And l also love the bits and pieces. Always learn something new.
I’ve had this pattern saved for a while and after watching your video I feel much more confident in giving it a go. Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching and I hope you love the result! You can do it!
LOVE the kaleidoscope quilt. Fun way to change things up by using different fabrics in the corners. Thanks for showing all those options as well. ❤
OMG, I have the exact same problem with my corner pieces sometimes falling short. Thank you so much for sharing your tip to upsize and then square down. My blocks are much better now. THANK YOU!!!!

You did it! It took a few tries but you finally figured everything out; and you have mastered this block and thick quilt! Congratulations! 💕

It turned out beautiful!
Thanks Kathy!
Beautiful quilt.
Thanks Sonja!

Those are beautiful quilts. I bought a clapper at a quilt show last year. I love it and will buy another to have 2 on the go.
Yep having 2 clappers is great! My son who is a woodworker made me 2 for Christmas I love them.
@ How nice❤️
They are creative design pieces 🧵🪡✂️😊
Thanks! I love making this pattern! In all its variations! 😜
appreciate your tenacity . Also that you keep it real . You did great on all the quilts. Keep up the great work Michelle!
Thanks for watching and for the encouragement!
Love it!
Thanks Becky!

I’ll have to try that - I always assumed it was about retaining the heat in the wood? But open to new ideas and approaches! Thanks Sylvia.
love using the clapper! so many times i have picked up my pressed pieces too soon and my fingers get a little too hot
3 different quilts...interesting and each unique. Thank you.
I love the pattern and there are clearly a bunch of options! 😜
Love it! Great job
Thanks Christina!

Thanks Ann! The quilt top is with a friend to long arm. I’ll try to get final photos to share. Thanks for watching.

Acorn seam align glue could come in handy here for matching points when joining two halves of block together.
I’ve never used it before - thanks for the tip!

Yah... you got it...
After how many tries?!? It’s a great pattern.
thx

I'm not!
Definitely not perfect - as you’ve all seen! Thanks for watching Ann!!
