Purchased this for my son and his new offset smoker. Tested it out on a 15lbs brisket with one probe in the flat and the other in the point. My son couldn't get the app to work with his google smartphone; but, we had the case with the temp readings. He loved these probes and he has able to maintain a proper temperature range. The dual probes helped us make wood, vent, spray, water tray, wrap adjustments and limited our time opening the smoker. No problem with battery life with both probes lasting the full 12 hour cook/rest. Occasionally we would double-check both probes with instant read thermometer and close enough within a few degrees (no telling which of the 3 are 100% correct). Only wish list stuff are: - probes were a touch thinner - both ends of the probes looked black after +9 hours on a offset smoker. Make one probe square for easy ID when this happens
That is a great benefit to having the temps on the base. I agree with the probe size and color. the white gets dirty so quick and it is very hard to clean. I am glad you had a good experience with it.
I have been wondering about the addition of the double to my single probe model, that I do LOVE! Thank you for showing that, as I wondered if I would need 2 apps. I think I also heard you say all three could be used at the same time? Do you just jump back and forth in the page that shows the devices? How does that work?? I would have like to see a demo of that!! Thanks for sharing and a big thumbs up!
Ive had nothing but problems with these in the 3 months I've owned them. I've had ThermoPro send 2 new probes already but it looks like the white ones literally become bricks after 2 uses in low temp cooking (i.e. 225F to 275F)
Hi great video... Is this Tempspike discontinued already because I can't find it anywhere to purchase online in the US or here in the UK, and ideas??? Martin from London, UK.
Yes it should be. I just checked online and saw it available. Make sure to use the link in the description, you’ll get a discount and will help the channel out.
With most meat thermometers the ambient will be off because it is being cooled off by the actual piece of meat. Once the meat warms up the ambient temp will start reading more accurate. The only wireless probes I found that dont do this are the new MEATER 2 and Typhur Sync. I have a video where I compare these 2 and I go over the ambient temp issues with other thermometers
I’ve had connection issues with all my wireless thermometers and I have a few different kinds. I have found the Temspike and The MeatStick probes to be a little better. My meater is older though, so that may be why.
Thats a great question, mine shuts off by itself but i've never checked to see how long it takes. I guess you could just plug it in when you arent using it until you notice it has shut off.
I HATED this video. Watching you cut and sample these gorgeous pieces of meat, my mouth was watering from imagining how delicious these steaks were. Shame on you for torturing me like that!

Spray non stick oil on white prop so you can wipe it and clean it easier.

The double probe is very nice to have. and yes you would just jump back and fourth in the app when using all 3
Thank you for your reply !
Are you able to use just one spike? Cuz I couldn’t get it to work unless I used both
You should be able to use both

Thats a pain, Its good they are sending you new probes but that shouldn't be happening

@@SmokestackJoes They work well on anything else!
does the app NOT have LOW (or downward) MEAT reading for tracking rests?
I am not sure if the app has the rest feature like the MEATER does but you should still be able to follow the temp to see it drop
Compared to what my smoker says, the ambient for me is way off. The internal is dead on though.

You should change your name to High Energy Joe instead of Smokestack Joe. Just kidding, love the channel content and the way you do the channel
Haha I like it! Thanks a lot and I'm glad you enjoy the content!
Do you have a good connection with this thermometer? Bc I have a meater+ thermometer and they have bad connection and don't work half the time

Sure do.
I can’t figure out using my spikes on filet mignon ? Any suggestions?
A filet mignon might be a little too small for the temp spikes. there tempspike plus probably would be better because it is smaller in size
@@SmokestackJoes ya figured after trying
I have one but how do you turn it off so it dosent burn up the charge on them?

When you put the probes into the case the probes automatically turn off and the case starts charging them

My apologies lol They were delicious though. Thank you for the comment
Nice work, but sharpen your knife
Thanks, and yeah I had to sharpen it right after this video lol
Wtf did you do to the Picanha? You just lost all BBQ credibility.
