I may need to tighten the bolts every couple runs, but I'm sure LocTite would fix that. They're my first GPM parts and they work well. @redblue40rc33 I don't really see that ever actually being an issue. If your car is rusting badly enough for that to actually become a problem you might want to consider why that's happening. I am not super careful with drying my vehicles and I don't think I've ever had an RC car get rusty enough to where that would actually be an issue.
So which has been more durable the MMM spur and Pinon or the Gpm? Have you tried the vitavon 1.5 mod gears. I need to buy a third set. Stock garbage Hardened steel from traxxas still garbage. They shouldn't be breaking like this driving in back yard. Any advice be greatly appreciated
I'd have to imagine long-term the MMM gear is going to be more durable. It's just hard to picture something that was made in Germany and cost three times as much not being better made but I don't have the long-term experience to be able to know for sure. I do know that the MMM gear is extremely durable and so far the GPM gear which is still in my truck is holding up great. Does anyone know where I can find 5 mm bore for stock X max motor 1.5 mod pinion gear I don't wanna run the 12 tooth pinion that comes with the GPM spur
Unfortunately there aren't a lot of options. I think WFO makes some and there's also a adapter sleeve you can get to go from 8 mm bore to 5 mm bore. I've never used it but it should work.
You can't use the pins when running aftermarket gears. You'll have to set the mesh manually. I would recommend getting the Traxxas reinforcing washers for under the motor mount and then take a look at my mesh setting video.
Ran these gears, the spur drug on the side of the chassis and the driveline. When measured outside diameter of the 1.5 35 was 0.035 larger than the M 1 54 tooth. did I get a bad gear or is everyone just ignoring the drag marks on inside?
I'm going to go with bad gear. I have run two of these now and have recommended them to many other people. This is the first I've heard of it. I think if these gears were binding on the chassis I would have heard about it by now.
No. They will work with the stock motor mount. You won't be able to use the pin system to adjust and you should probably get the Traxxas reinforcing washers for the mounting screws but the stock mount will work fine.
@Harvz78 The GPM mod 1.5 12 tooth is 5 mm. Most of the rest of them are going to be 8 mm. Your other option is to get an 8 mm to 5 mm sleeve adapter. I have used them previously and they do work though they probably aren't ideal.
@@rcrelatedstuff6092 The ones that GPM makes have a 5 mm bore and I think there are a couple other options for them but the majority of the gears you're going to get in mod 1.5 will be 8 mm bore. Yes. You'll need a mod 1.5 pinion as well. This GPM gear can also be purchased as a set with a mod 1.5 pinion that will fit the stock motor. That's what I would recommend. You can determine the ratio of your gears by dividing one number by the other so in the case of 20/50 you would end up with 0.4/1. You can then take that smaller number and multiply the larger number of the gears you're trying to figure out to figure out the other one. So in this case 35*0.4 is 14. So in this case you would want a 14 tooth pinion.
I don't know of a chart but you can easily find the ratio yourself by dividing one number by the other. For instance 18/50 is just 50 divided by 18. That gives you a ratio of 2.77 to 1. You can then take the spur gear and divide it by that number to get the pinion gear you would need. So 35 tooth spur / 2.77 is 12.6 so you can either go with a 12 or 13 tooth pinion in that case.
I just got the spur gear on AliExpress. I'm running a 19 tooth 8 mm bore saga pinion. The gears that come with the kit are designed for the stock motor.

I destroyed yesterday GPM 52T 1.0M spur for the Sledge. It is definitelly worse material than traxxas original. Survived two days on dirt track only. Also another GPM product are not a best quality. Their sway bars where was bad quality of thread what leads to stripped nut. For me it is just cheap a china. Also their aluminium upgrades like wheel hub and arms are bad quality of aluminium which i tried on XO. I wish you luck with 1,5M spur. Because i finished with this company.
Interesting. I used their mod 1 gear on my sledge for a while and had no issues with it. I haven't heard anybody else experience issues with theirs either. I made a video about it and saw no negative reviews in the comments. I wonder if the one that you got missed heat treat or something. A lot of their older stuff definitely wasn't good quality but all the newer stuff that I've tried has been great.
I don't do links for two reasons. The first one is that I don't want people to think that I'm profiting from these videos because I'm not and the other one is that links change constantly so if I post something up it'll end up being invalid a month later. You can Google it though and should be able to find it pretty easily!

You can determine the ratio of your gears by dividing one number by the other so in the case of 20/50 you would end up with 0.4/1. I think the guy's Facebook info is in the description but I don't know if he even makes them anymore
How many teeth does your pinion have?
I'm currently running a 21 tooth with the 1100 KV hobby wing motor and trenchers. It's a pretty decent setup for regular bashing
A link please
Hey I don't normally do links because I don't want people thinking I'm trying to profit off of affiliate links or anything like that. Also links tend to change frequently so I don't want to have outdated information. You can easily find them on eBay or just by googling though. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy the videos they sub is appreciated :-)
Will it work on stock motor set up?
Yes. You can run it with whatever motor system you want. Not sure you'll get much advantage of it with the stock motor system since the stock gears are actually pretty strong but you can't do it.
@@DoRCwhat he didn't mention is he's runs 50t 52t ratio lol
Any link
I don't do links for two reasons. The first one is that I don't want people to think that I'm profiting from these videos because I'm not and the other one is that links change constantly so if I post something up it'll end up being invalid a month later. You can Google it though and should be able to find it pretty easily!
