- In this episode of Experts React, martial artists, Gemma Nguyen and Yoshi Sudarso, will be reacting to gameplay from Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Tsushima is a 2020 action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and
published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Featuring an open world, the player controls Jin Sakai, a
samurai on a quest to protect Tsushima Island during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. The game
was released on July 17, 2020 for PlayStation 4. It received praise for its visuals and combat.
Ghost of Tsushima is an action-adventure stealth game played from a third-person perspective. The
game features a large open world, without waypoints, which can be explored without guidance.
Players can travel to different parts of the world on horseback. An item that acts as a grappling hook is
available to access difficult to reach areas. The game features side quests and non-playable characters
with which the player can interact.

A really cool "secret" in that game too, the less "honorable" you are aka the more you assassinate as compared to fight directly. The more dark and rainy the weather gets

@@theleaf4 Yup. I’m pretty sure you can collect crickets or something like that to unlock different flute songs, many of which have different effects on weather. The one you have unlocked by standard, I believe, just makes it more sunny.

the touchpad is a very important part of GOT's controls. I doubt it's gonna get ported to pc, if it is, it's gonna take another 3 years
@Max Chukston yeah true, but i think it's more comfortable using a controller to play GoT since there are alot of controls in the game. Gonna be harder on pc

@@ppprenxx horizon also had controls mapped specifically to the touch pad which eventually also got ported to PC and works fine on an Xbox controller. So it's not impossible at all.
Those "shields" are called sode. They're designed to hang off the shoulders of the armor, and protect the wearer from arrows and melee attacks. Armor designs like that lead samurai to believe their armor needed no shield.
Samurai started out as primarily archers so they needed both hands free, the shoulder shields evolved to permit that.

One of the things about this game I love is how good it does at striking a good balance between being very realistic in terms of combat and swordsmanship, but also gives that little bit of necessary game mechanics without feeling like it compromises what a soldier would reasonably do in combat (mostly).

Ghost of Tsushima was sooo good. Definitely my game of the year for 2020.
I don't really know why martial artists would react to a game with sword based combat, but now that it is done, maybe they should react to the display of martial arts by Yagami in Judgment !

@@supremecaffeine2633 i think theyre talking about them not being trained in this particular martial art, so their knowledge of what's happening in the game isn't that extensive.
Martial artist reacts are always the best. I feel like you can just hang with Gemma and Yoshi and talk about stupid stuff lol
I love how they just adore the aesthetics of that game and fanboying/-girling over how beautifully the swordplay is in this game and also whenever Jin rolls after a jump my knees hurt. Thanks for this somewhat grounded but still informative reaction you two

It’d be really sick if you guys at gameology requested videos from youtubers who do professional looking gameplay of these games to show these experienced people! It’d give them so much more to talk about!

Fun fact, the four stances each work better against different weapons. Stone is for swords, water for shields, wind for spears and moon for brutes.

We are getting spoiled! Two new vids in two days?! :D Love seeing the martial artists take on weapons. When the new turtles game releases you should do a super episode! Gemma on chucks and puns, Yoshi on katana, Noah on sais and someone from the weapon vids on bo staff! Maybe throw in a hockey/baseball player for Casey Jones too xD
Gameplay, style, this game have one of the best.
The storyline though is on a different level. Like "1 musician spreading his legend across the country" kind of level.

In regards to the arrow knowing the flying enemy back to you, I don't remember which game it was, but there was this part where I was trying to run away, and the enemy kept hitting me with this ranged stagger attack from behind me, but of course the stagger animation has me move backwards, TOWARDS the source of the hit, saying "Screw you (as in me, the player) and screw physics!" Dying there like that was, understandably, frustrating.
Gemma looks thinner! Now she resembles real life Chun Li even more.
Except chun li is thicc and ripped so I don't know where thin comes in there

I wish they showed a little more of the early gameplay, like when you just start assassinating people and he isn’t proficient so it’s a struggle. I really liked that aspect
