Of course! Everyone in mortal Kombat had martial arts fighting style! But they had superhuman abilities, magic and highly advanced combat technology
But the game could do a lot better with those Chinese/Japanese references and details though. Like Scorpion's clan, the shirai-ryu, the "ry" in "ryu" shouldn't be pronounced as the sound in Ryan, it should be like ree-u. And the Chinese characters on Sub's costume (冰龍的） doesn't totally make sense as it basically translates to "ice dragon's". Would make more sense if it was without "的“ which is basically the 's.

And Kano wears Leather Daddy fetish outfits..... that was such a lazy “why women sexy” attempt.... notice how the girl threw it back at him and his open shirt....
To be fair at least Kahn’s wearing practical armor for battle (albeit not much of it but that’s bc he doesn’t really need it), while Sindel, Kitana & most of the other MK girls are going to battle in freaking high heels lol

@@destructo3457 capped raiden literally bodied liu kang in every timeline while shang tsung can't even kill liu kang without the help of quan chi. The game doesn't even show raiden full potential because he's never become serious like dark raiden.

@@randalica92 It's funny how Johnny in the OG timeline was really useless. He's just a side character, got killed in MK3, and then revive in MK4, and then got killed again in MKDA, return back in MKD as Onaga's puppet and then ultimately die again in Armageddon. Dude is basically Yamcha in MK universe during that era. Thanks to the new timeline that started in MK9 they finally established him as one of the main character, give some heroic plot to him and also a personality.

@@lawyerpanda1856 Noah is the face model for Kenshi and did the motion capture for a lot of the male fighters like smoke and liu Kang. Gemma did a lot of motion capture for the female fighters
Kitana's war fans are steel-ribbed. It's not just the tips. She can use the blades to cut and the fan itself to block and deflect blows. Kung Lao's gauntlets have metal covering his palms so he can handle his hat.
Real iron fans were emergency weapons meant to be used folded even if they could unfold, the idea of the fighting style was you were meant to used it as a club after parrying an attack. I think it's cool anyway though, but it's definitely one of those things that were meant to be elegant rather than effective.

From the PS2 MK intros, and then the MAJOR step ups with MKX and MK11, they've nailed it.
(If you think these outfits are wild, all the outfits prior to MK9 make the ladies look like chastized nuns lol.)
i know the outfit for kitana in mk9 was terrible
They pretty much only kept Sindel's cleavage outfit because it fits her character. Almost all her fight intro dialog with other characters are horny.
And people really got heated over the fact that the women in MK11 aren't naked like they are in previous games.

I absolutely love the fight choreography for Revenant Jade in the final confrontation of Aftermath.
The female outfits in 11 are nothing compared to the older games. But they still make them look good in the newer game without the revealing clothes
In the original trilogy they were wearing “aerobics” outfits..... same with some of the men....

I’m hoping the new MK live-action film has similar fight choreos like this. Of course, the storyline/writing needs to be good too. But if the storyline/writing turns out to be wack for whatever reason, then I hope the fights can make up for it at least.

The pose at 9:25 comes from Eagle Claw which would have been a style that some of the monks practiced. That particular style has been used in multiple MK games.

For that have them react to Jacob's combat since he's the playable sibling who prefers hand-2-hand combat, and if he goes for a weapon it's the brass knuckles. And a martial arts student who is a fan of the series correctly stated that Jacob's fighting style is a fusion between street brawling and bare-knuckle boxing.
