Kate was such a fun character. Her interactions with Garret were cute too. Would have been nice to have been introduced to more powered vampires than all at once in the last book/ movie.

All of the good vampires had impressive powers. Bella's sheild, Edward's mind reading, Alice seeing future events, Resnesme's gift of touch to tell the truth, Jasper's mood control, Zafrina's mind control ect. They all work hand in hand.
Don't forget Benjamin he had the power of the four elements

@@resurgingflame but their powers are useless up against Bella and Benjamin. Bella has the edge because she can shield others and Benjamin has the edge because he can create and manipulate fire which is a vampire's major weakness I wouldn't wanna go up against him
If u think about it renesmee’s powers come from both Bella and edwards a form of both hearing thoughts and able to see them like Bella in the final scene of breaking dawn pt 2.
Renesmee's gift is not touch to tell the truth. It's projecting her thoughts to someone through touch disregarding their mental shields. Which is how she was able to penetrate bella's extremely strong shield.

I loved Garret and Kate. He took all that voltage to ensure she didn’t die by the Volturi.
Garret knew that he was the only one who could ad well. In the books they quickly talked about how the vamps were practicing together and Garret was hanging around Kate most of the time so he got use to it. He fell in love with her first shock.

Kate's impressive, a vampire with the ability to manipulate electrical currents, it's impressive but also dangerous, you could end up hurting people with that power if you're not careful

The movie added visual effect but it's just a mental illusion that make you think you are being electrocuted if you touch her.

I love how Garrett, upon realizing the connection with Kate, protects and accepts her family so easily. So cute.
And to think that her destructive power was the cause of Garret falling madly in love with her.

It's such an amazing world that's been built here, with such cool powers. All out wars or other dark backstories in this world would have been absolutely brilliant to explore. Instead we got...teen romance. Man.
To bad they didn’t age the characters a bit. If they had made all the young characters in the college age and made the scenes college mature then focused more on the mythical world and less on the romance it would have been an amazing story.
@@emilyhess222 It would have been Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles at that point. Just the same, I'd love to see more of the Twilight universe's history, like far into the past.
I really wish the books would have been more well rounded with the characters. Jasper, Carlisle and the Denali's all deserved better than what they got. Hell, most of the back characters did - the whole series didn't have to be about Bore and Snore. The movies and fanfiction are the only reason I enjoy Twilight.
If I'm being honest, I would have loved to see more stuff involving the other vampires and their powers. An anthology book about them and their different adventures would be soo cool

So the reason Edward couldn't read Bella's thoughts is because she was fated to become a shield, and I love the fact vampires had powers it adds another layer to the vampire archetype and they are not just your average bog standard blood sucker
Electric is physical thing. Bella's mental barrier's preventing electricity is absurd.
It's a mental ilussion, it's not actual electricity, that's what Kate's powers are about and that's why Bella can counter them
The electricity is a psionic type it can convince her opponent's mind they are getting actually shocked in their nerve system that's why bella shield can stop it

It would've been interesting to see a Kate vs Jane fight or a Zafrina vs Jane.
Yes but Jane would very quickly wipe their asses, Kate needs to touch Jane to use her powers while Jane can be far far away and it will still work, not to mention the intensity of the pain is very different as well. Zafrina I'd say is more of a "who strikes first" situation but Jane's powers still seem to outmatch that of Zafrina's.

@@twit9129 why outmatch? Jane can create an illusion of agony on one person, while Zafrina is able to create any illusion on multiple persons at the same time, even disable sensor abilities, like brother of Jane

In Breaking Dawn book, she switched her target 12 times in 1 sec.
Jane is not going to stare at one person. She's going to mow down multiple targets by constantly changing her focus.
Meanwhile, Zafrina's power do NOT block sound, smell, and touch. It's only visual illusion.
It's also implied that Zafrina's power don't reach far as her job during the battle wasn't to stop the large portion of attacking Volturi guards but focus on only those that gets close to Bella.
Her job was ultimately blinding the few that manages to get close to Bella.
(terrifying fact: Alec can cover MILES with his gift. He can potentially incapacitate thousands if needed).
In Eclipse, Volturi only sent Jane, Felix and 2 other guards to deal with the newborn army which consisted of 20 members.
Volturi was confident that Jane + 3 guards was enough to exterminate them all.

People discussing these scenes and characters as if they aren't some of the worst acting directing and special effects ever put to film is almost too much to take. That being said there is something charming that they made these movies with an almost "fuck you" attitude to would be cinema snobs and I kinda dig it.

I liked the Twilight franchise, but it was definitely too angsty/ moody - I think the franchise would have been *so* much better if *all* the films were more like Breaking Dawn: Part 2 tbh.
I especially loved their special abilites (& the special effects for them).
It was very reflective of the time back then. My Chemical Romance, emo wave, vampire craze...BD2 was released when that phase was more or less over and is more timeless because of it. I can appreciate that the movies are reminiscent of their time but I see your point as well :)

Given how tight/limited her mental projection field is, there probably is a chance you could avoid her power by not being in contact with her "field" by wearing really thick clothings.
Though at that point, you aren't even touching her due to all that extra clothings just to avoid being in contact with her power.

@isac melendez basically he is an empath. He can sense someone's emotional state and manipulate their emotions. He can make you feel,happy, calm, sad, angry.

His ability was very useful when Maria(his maker) was building a newborn army. Newborn vampires are very angry/moody and Jasper used his ability to calm them down and because of that they didn't k*ll each other and the army kept growing. They haven't talked about the extent of his power though.
