    Have been following Pete and watching his demos for a while. And I noticed, that regardless the gear he uses and demos, Pete always sounds aaaaawwweeesome. So the main thing I've learnt so far is that I gotta stop complaining about my gear and quit acquiring new stuff and just learn to play and sound like me. Thanks, Pete :)

    i watched the videos at the Origin Effects site by Simon, and they really are good. He's a bit of a mad scientist, but he's also a guitar player, and he knows tone. He explains things really well, and if anyone here is interested in this pedal, they owe it to themselves to watch those clips. And they would be invaluable to you if you got the pedal, IMO. Great job Pete!! This makes me start taking inventory, and deciding what to sell to get this pedal! lol

    No doubting this pedal is really incredible, (here comes the But) But using it Live could turn out to be a bit of a task, you don’t normally get hours to sound check, and all those knobs even if dialled in at home are prone to being moved during transport, however I’d have one for the studio, great demo as usual Pete T

    Wow, this was an incredibly well-explained and concise demo of a complicated pedal. Very well done Pete. Incredible playing too, particularly on your Suhr at 17:46, amazing change of rhythms! I thought the comparison to the Marshall was very very close. This is not my bag, but I appreciate what a clever bit of kit this is

      Except for the drums, which kinda reek of "standard rock-guitar-instrumental" music from a guitar store commercial, I completely agree... I've heard the occasional hint of Jason Falkner-esque melodies in Pete's stuff more than once, and that's definitely a compliment.

    Awesome demo - as always! I thought that the pedal plus poweramp sounded even a bit better than the real Marshall. It was close, but the pedal sounded a bit harmonically richer to me (listening with good headphones). Anyways, the pedal is scary complicated but sounds great dialed in with competent ears.

    Wow Pete!
    That 1st burst of the pedal after you explained the controls (AC/DC) surprised me. It got nasty in just the right frequencies immediately. Very impressive.
    Maybe there's a sound (or 10) in there for me? : )
    Part of me likes it because it looks like part of star ship weapons ordinance control. But the tones back up the look.
    Sweet pedal!

  • @markhamstra5473
    @markhamstra5473 6 лет назад

    Less negative feedback will actually tend to make an amp more responsive to changes in pick attack, etc. The change will be more progressive, though, whereas with more NFB there won't be much difference within a range of intensities, and then it will more abruptly go into heavier distortion once a threshold is crossed.

    This is one of those pedals I would DEFINITELY own if I did a bunch of fly dates, amp on stage, amp in studio dates. The thing with me is...I take my bassman, king of tone, tube screamer combo with me everywhere (unless it’s a small stage, low dough affair...then it’s the Ritchie flyrig). So my core sound is basically that. It’s pretty simple and easy to tune. I can absolutely see a context for this pedal though...it’s just not my particular situation. Who knows...maybe it will be at some point.

    Amazing piece of gear I to have an early JTM and can match it so damn close its scary. To the guys question about the feel, I think it feels a little better than the Marshall. And it does so much more. I think Simon is a Mad Scientist/Genius.

    Without midi this pedal could be a tweakers dream or nightmare. Simon doesnt do Digital though! I like what he has done in capturing all his Allman brother amp tones. I guess you have to have a fairly decent amp to use this beast on. It is the price of a Marshall Origin 50 so I think it is for people who understand amps to the nth degree. Two many switches, its kinda of the opposite UI wise to the Helix! For me its going to be for those people who have money to burn! Great demo Pete, but as you say you have to watch Origin video and my eyes glazed over pretty quick!

    Very nice "Cranked" tones. If it can do some thick more saturated tones as well , I would want one,. Darn near wroth just for the Cranked tones alone ! Sounds killer in the gain rage Pete had it dialed in for however, I would have liked to hear how much gain it has on tap. If it does High Gain well as it sounds on basic gain, one would not need anything else !

    First of all - Pete, you're the best, thanks for a great review!
    I know I might be asking a bit too much since this monster is offering so much different stuff but i would like this to work in parallel stereo, valve to L and silicon to R. This a great sounding pedal, but at $649 U.S. It's out of reach for the average weekend warriors to spend on an overdrive. I guess if you bought a cheap amp that has a good clean sound you could use it for your gains.

    Great demo,great playing but those amps will sound good with the cheapest pedals.Some of the controls would be redundant with amps here for example the rectifier control which is much more important with a power amp.It is versatile though and if this is your main sound generator its actually fairly cheap...

    How is it going direct into the board or into a cab simulator? I know a lot of the demos are showcasing how it can inject steroids into your amp. However, I almost always go direct with my guitar and wonder how it sounds on its own. I’m really debating between this and the Effectrode Blackbird.

    Great demo. I'd love to have one, but for the same price, I could buy a mint condition Vox AC15. Absolutely at the top of the boutique effect pedals, but as anyone who'd have the money for this probably already has a Tube Screamer, and a variety of other overdrives/distortions, and has probably already settled on a few sounds that they rotate, this is pretty much an expensive novelty/toy, and a difficult expense to justify.

    • @luisangelEXALTA
      @luisangelEXALTA 4 года назад

      my thoughts exactly, i figure for that price i bought a fender hot rod deluxe and some overdrive pedals and i get a solid overdrive tone + a tube amp.. not ready to take the dive on this one. would rather keep my rig and add a univibe pedal or a more diverse reverb pedal like the oceans 11 stereo pedal.. but this thing does sound darn good, for the average working musician i'd say its not in the budget..

    Sounds awesome but I can’t understand a pedal thats able to do so much but only lets you get 2 sounds out of it on the fly. Preset/midi capability would’ve taken it to another level.

    • @kirstensray
      @kirstensray 6 лет назад +4

      It is all analog so not sure preset and midi could have been added. It is true no one is going to be bending down to change settings to get different tones from this pedal in a live situation so it begs who is this for. In my mind this is for studio or home playing where you have the time to change the settings. Might be worth it for a gigging musicians who are always playing backline amps.

    • @minorharmonicscale
      @minorharmonicscale 6 лет назад +5

      It can be added :) Look at Chase Bliss pedals or the new RambleFX kismet, that is analog parts controlled digitally :) dont know why not every pedal does that

      They put so much in the first version, they have to hold out on presets and midi until the second version ;-)

      Kirsten Ray yeah, as soon as I saw it, I thought: who even needs that amount of tweakery , then realized it is the ultimate backline fix for touring journeyman/woman guitarists.
      I will never need it. Or want to spend hours mastering how to tweak it, but he got some killer sounds from it eh?!

    • @franknguitars7671
      @franknguitars7671 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, want midi! Even the integration into a switching system is an afterthought and requires another add on product. The way the external footswitch was configured, I find a bit odd. Once I can remotely switch channel and activate the midboost with my GigRig, I am hooked

    Hi Pete. Your reviews are awesome. One question for you or any person who has tried the pedal. Does it sound like a cranked amp at bedroom volume?

    • @jake-jk5rg
      @jake-jk5rg 6 лет назад

      Hi Luis, sorry this is late ! I run it into a Laney L5 head clean, 0.5 watt setting to a 2 x 12 cab with 1 x Celestion V Type and 1x A type. I aim for 80-85 db to keep neighbours friendly and it sounds much like Pete's demo. I've tried lots of pedals and this really seems to be different at the kind of level I need, I sold a few other pedals as soon as I got it, it's that good. It's also good value compared to buying a low watt boutique amp which I was considering.

  • @jorgiewtf
    @jorgiewtf 5 лет назад

    Hey Pete, great video and awesome playing. I have a question and I think you’re very qualified to answer it: Bring it that I already own this pedal and I know it can get very close or even replicate many vintage & classic sounding amps, do you think it would be worth spending the money on some of UAD’s amazing classic amp plugins like the Plexi, Bluesbreaker and the Fender 55 tweed? I’m asking cause my new Apollo Twin MKII quad and the Two-notes cab M both arrive tomorrow. I also picked up that 3 UA plugins bundle for $399 which at one point I thought was crazy until I realized just how awesome they basically all are. Originally got them so I could get the Lexicon 480, the NEVE88 channel strip and the SSL bus compressor. The problem is that after hearing their amps I was amazed and my initial reaction was to get amp plugins instead but of the Origin Drive plus the CAB M can replicate those sounds, then I can go back to just opting for the mixing plugins I mentioned. Sorry for the long-winded comment I just wanna make sure I use my “3 wishes” wisely since they were so expensive. Thank you for the great video again!

    Would this work into a axe fx II and just use the axe cab. It’s often very difficult to dial this sound into the axe.

      It works with the kemper so it should also with the AXE

    sounds great...how is the stereo widening being achieved? Makes a big difference than as a pure mono demo...and perhaps just a little hyped, for lack of a better term.

      +Jonny Stuart which part? Solos I usually add echo. Rhythm gits have a bit of verb and room mics from the ox. The Marshall/Revival section is just mono mic’d cab.

      I was referring to when you started switching between just the amp and then adding the Revival Drive, e.g. @ 8:48. I guess that's one of your rhythm tracks from the song. It sounds quite good--just seemed the stereo seemed m much wider once the drive kicked in (compared to just amp) but maybe that's just the effect of hotter signal. Just curious.
      BTW: you say Silicon(e) the way many people I know say it. :)
