these videos seriously inspire and motivate me to keep going with my aviation journey I just received my PPL and started instrument. I can't wait for the future. thank you for the awesome videos as always.
Not a pilot but have a life long interest in aviation due to an uncle who was a barn stormer and a well known pioneer in Alaska aviation. What I find most impressive is the precision, knowledge and coordination both of you apply to your craft.
Excellent video Owen! Always great to see this timeless beauty, the G-IV in action. Brad “that was a good one” - it certainly was according to the ground video! Thanks for taking me along, looking forward to the next one.
Great video. I loved flying corporate (Citation II) when I was 21 years old. It was nice flying with the same couple very experienced guys all the time. I later moved on to the ATR, ERJ, CRJ, 757, 767, 747 and now the 777 with a cargo airline. But I think back fondly on flying that little citation. It was a great lifestyle.
I thought I was headed toward a career in corporate. When I was laid off after 9/11 I ended up at a regional airline and then long-haul charter and finally cargo. I love it. I’ve carried everything all over the globe. From horses, cattle and pigs to helicopters, Ferraris, military weapons, oil rigs. If it’ll fit on a 747 freighter I’ve probably carried it. I think any other job would feel boring now.
Proud of you brother man! Even though I’m not a pilot or have any interest in aviation… you and gear down inspire me to keep striving for more in my respective career. Keep killing it man!
Great stories guys, enjoyed....the one thing I noted on both.....desire to go for it and work hard, talk to people anywhere, anytime....hum...I wonder if that could be a formula for success?! Thanks Owen and Brad !
Very inspiring stories of your entry points to corporate jets. Thank you for sharing! Also, you guys make it look easy yet I can imagine the level of responsibility is off the charts. Looking forward to your next videos! 😊
The annoying flicker in your cockpit footage can be corrected by changing either your frame rate OR shutter speed via camera settings - it is a very simple correction. Since you fly that jet it should be easy for you to correct going forward, cheers!
I’m moving to Henderson next month to finish flight training with CFS at KVGT! I’m in the accelerated professional pilot career program at CFS! This is EXACTLY what I want to do!! Thanks for the vid👍
Morning Owen! You are such a standup guy. Thanks for sharing your story. Your work ethic and personality are incredible! Thats why you are so successful in my humble opinion. Stay safe out there!
Congratulations! I just started watching your videos and enjoying them immensely. My company supplied the tail docks (Gulfstream) years ago and it was awesome to be able to be around them knowing I would probably never be able to fly on one. 😮 😅
Another great video. All the "lucky" breaks couldnt have happened to a better person. Fantastic job man keep crushing it! Also nice greaser landing by brad
Enjoyed both of your stories, great information and insight for those looking to make GA flying their livelihood. “Luck is opportunity meeting preparation” what a great lesson that is.
I always say "A person should be in a space they are about". It is wonderful to see you both are! I feel flying is addictive. The first time I was in an airplane I flew it, this lady instructor was by my side, my twilight take off, and my night time landing went well; without other than verbal assistance. Ok I have to admitt it...... I LOVED FLYING!
Great stuff!!! 52 yr old Sport Pilot in Medford Oregon. Hoping to get my CFI-S .... I think Im too old for the Jet jockey stuff taking my PPL checkride in Aug. Hope to sit right seat and Fly a jet at least once. Love the vids!!!!
I think I heard you over Santa Fe on Friday in the Piaggio. I was flying back from a successful commercial checkride. Big fan man. Trying to follow in your footsteps.
Just 10 years ago, neither of you would be sitting where you are. You both had breaks but you are both benefactors of a pilot shortage in a buoyant market. Make hay while the sun shines. You are correct, Owen. It is difficult, even in this market, to get contract work without 500 hours on type.
Anyone who has 'made it' in any field got some (a lot of ...) breaks. The issue is to recognize them when they come and then make responsible (to those who never got them) use of them afterwards.
I love travelling but I'm afraid of flying. Watching your channel is helping a lot, your professionalism and skills, and the explanations you give are the best remedy I've found! thank you!
I love the videos man you are such an inspiration. I am 15 and have started to do lessons in a da-20 I love flying so much. Thank you for the amazing videos and stay safe 🛫✈️.
Great takeoff guys!!! Love the videos Owen!!!!! Just wondered on takeoff why the yolk was facing left and the plane was turning right!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!! Again, Love the videos!!!!!
Great video as always. Quick Question. Do you have to tell the passengers in the back to stay seated and keep the seatbelt fastened like in the airliners when coming in to land? I only ask because you are dealing with high profile clients and all. plus it will give me one more thing to remember to do in my flight sim to keep it more real when I'm flying.
I’m 35 and decided I needed a career change. After passing the PPL written exam and my first solo, I decided to refinance my home to pay for everything. That was an interesting conversation with the wife, to say the least.
I'm exactly where you are, 35 yrs old, soon doing my written exam, about 10 more hours for my practical. I work in aviation maintenance and have access to all kinds of a/c and pilots. The other day I met a 33 years old captain, and a 50+ years old f/o in a 321 NEO the f/o said he left his previous career at 45, and decided to fly, and went all in. Never too late indeed.
@@garylum545 Well that is a hard case. PPL would take 6 months at best, then 100-200 hours to build depending on where you live to get your CPL, could be 2-5 years to reach jet level. Where I live, 65 is the upper limit, not sure about corporate. But I would guess they are also in the same ball park at max 70, which is the age you would reach by gaining all the licenses and hours to get hired. I'm sure there are more credible people out here who could give a more detailed answer on this. Nevertheless wish you the best if you decide to go for it.
Hi Owen, Have flown for 25 years with about 10,000 hours of time, Type rated in a SA227 which is a Metroliner. I LOVE FLYING. Unfortunately I got Cancer back in 2017 and literally fought it off and have become CANCER FREE for over 3 years now as of August of Last Year. I wasn't able to fly for all the past 7 years as I had no medical. I have been fighting the FAA to get my medical back to fly and applied for a 2nd Class Medical. I, hopefully can apply for my 1st class again and get it but in the meantime, since you are a contract pilot, does everyone you fly for require that you have a 1st class or can a 2nd class Medical suffice? The other question is, I'm very healthy now since I shook the Cancer but I'm currently 72 and know there are some places that I CAN'T fly because of the requirements the same as the Airlines Part 121. What advice could you give me to get to Contract work. I have a number of hours in a Twin Cessna 402C flying for CAPE AIR over in Hyannis. I have hours in the Golden Eagle 421, the Cessna 414 but have never flown the King Air series at all. What do you think are my options for continuing my passion of flying with currently a 2nd Class Medical? Thanks a lot for your advice. OH BTW, I have probably 3,000+ hours in my own Beechcraft Debonair. Love those Beechcraft. Love your Videos, Great audio AND editing.
There is a big difference between having a Type Rating and being designated as "Captain" for a Large Aircraft or a turbojet. The difference is called "seasoning", "time in type" or experience. This determination is generally dependent upon the INSURANCE requirements. Yes, LUCK is a big factor in getting your foot in the door, but you got to have the complete package.
@@FlyWithOwen what is the CA reaching back behind and to the right and turning after taking off? is it the trim wheel? if so, why is he using that instead of the electric trim on his yoke?
