Great video. I loved flying corporate (Citation II) when I was 21 years old. It was nice flying with the same couple very experienced guys all the time. I later moved on to the ATR, ERJ, CRJ, 757, 767, 747 and now the 777 with a cargo airline. But I think back fondly on flying that little citation. It was a great lifestyle.

I thought I was headed toward a career in corporate. When I was laid off after 9/11 I ended up at a regional airline and then long-haul charter and finally cargo. I love it. I’ve carried everything all over the globe. From horses, cattle and pigs to helicopters, Ferraris, military weapons, oil rigs. If it’ll fit on a 747 freighter I’ve probably carried it. I think any other job would feel boring now.

Hi Owen, Have flown for 25 years with about 10,000 hours of time, Type rated in a SA227 which is a Metroliner. I LOVE FLYING. Unfortunately I got Cancer back in 2017 and literally fought it off and have become CANCER FREE for over 3 years now as of August of Last Year. I wasn't able to fly for all the past 7 years as I had no medical. I have been fighting the FAA to get my medical back to fly and applied for a 2nd Class Medical. I, hopefully can apply for my 1st class again and get it but in the meantime, since you are a contract pilot, does everyone you fly for require that you have a 1st class or can a 2nd class Medical suffice? The other question is, I'm very healthy now since I shook the Cancer but I'm currently 72 and know there are some places that I CAN'T fly because of the requirements the same as the Airlines Part 121. What advice could you give me to get to Contract work. I have a number of hours in a Twin Cessna 402C flying for CAPE AIR over in Hyannis. I have hours in the Golden Eagle 421, the Cessna 414 but have never flown the King Air series at all. What do you think are my options for continuing my passion of flying with currently a 2nd Class Medical? Thanks a lot for your advice. OH BTW, I have probably 3,000+ hours in my own Beechcraft Debonair. Love those Beechcraft. Love your Videos, Great audio AND editing.

@@garylum545 Well that is a hard case. PPL would take 6 months at best, then 100-200 hours to build depending on where you live to get your CPL, could be 2-5 years to reach jet level. Where I live, 65 is the upper limit, not sure about corporate. But I would guess they are also in the same ball park at max 70, which is the age you would reach by gaining all the licenses and hours to get hired. I'm sure there are more credible people out here who could give a more detailed answer on this. Nevertheless wish you the best if you decide to go for it.

    Hey Owen!
Quick question, the G-IV you flew to Senegal. Did that aircraft by any chance fly in India? Because that aircraft went directly to a company in Phoenix around the time you mentioned. The reason I’m asking is because my dad was the PIC of that aircraft, which eventually went to the US and got that grey paint scheme.(999TR)

Great stories! Do you always fly right seat with Brad? Will you or can you also fly other newer gulfstreams in the fleet?

It’s amazing how expensive biz jet type ratings are. You could get a 737/A320 for why less than half what Owen had to pay for a G4.

I wonder what's the problem with flight controls, yoke all the way to the left to fly straight, is it normal for these planes? Looks very strange

I'm 23 looking for a career still but this seems so fun and a great career my goal would be to fly gulfstreams for a living they are such a beautiful aircraft.I work at an FBO and talk to pilots everyday at work and they all love there jobs.

You’re doing the right thing working at an FBO. Keep making those connections and it will pay off.

Hey Owen, always enjoy your videos. Glad to hear you have many more in the pipeline. I'm not a pilot but really enjoy aviation content. I noticed that the left throttle was quite a bit more forward than the right when you were in auto-throttle but when you guys took over, you pretty much kept them in line. What is up with the auto-throttle?

So was the takeoff normal for a Gulfstream? Right at Vr there was a rumbling sound on the video, about 9:07 into the video there was a loud noise while simultaneously you both were physically buffered. I've never flown in a Golfstream just wondered if that is normal.
    Thank you for your content.

Hello Owen! Love your videos . Hey I’m a low time IR PPL curious about some cockpit lingo. What does “Fms takeoff takeoff” AND “speeds will box” mean?

I flew Gulfstream's for a few years when I was in my early 20's, now 10 years later and I fly 747 cargo.
