- Fun canyon run for the first time in my Fiesta ST! Tuna Canyon is an incredibly technical one way road on the edge of a mountain, boasting incredible views, and delivering you directly to the PCH.
All video is filmed on a closed course with professional drivers. Do not attempt at home.

"This car loves it" understeer eveywhere
I understand your comment, but keep in mind this was relative to my experience coming from a less sporty vehicle. Once I put a solid set of grippy summer tires on and balanced the tire pressures, the car was much more grounded and much less understeer. Nonetheless, the car has a very eager personality and does love it.
@@allenisaacson6184i like your video just thought that was funny i could tell you were having fun is it a fiesta or focus and r u local to malibu?
@@kobieparshall8705 It's a Fiesta ST 6MT. I am not local to Malibu. I run with a little group of drivers out in Nevada. (IG @canyonculture.nv)
@@allenisaacson6184 fs malibu roads are my stomping grounds lol was trying to meet up
Wow. I just randomly witnessed civil dialogue on the internet for the first time in 19 years :)
I really love that single suction hold on for dear life radar detector g-force meter 😂
Granny shifting not double clutching like you should.... You never had me, you never had your car
I used to race down this road in a 2002 Miata. One time during a run at night we were coming down the straight away and a cyclist was coming up the hill. Had to swerve around him. Fastest I ever hit down the straight was about 110mph but you have to have good brakes to not hit the wall after that part. Fun road, but if you're going to drive super hard best to go to the track.
I grew up in topanga in the day.
We were the first to skateboard tunacyn in the 70s/80s .
It was a 2way rx then ..much gnarlyer
You skateboarded down this?!
My fav. Undisclosed location
Did that run many a time. In 2005 S2000, 2013 BMW 135M conv, 2016 BMW Z4 30IsDrive, 2019 Alfa Gulia Ti Sport Veloce. Love id every time. But concentration is vital.
Man i love Topanga and mt wilson so much
I came here specifically searching one-way canyon roads in Malibu. Is this road still open? I'll be in SoCal this weekend and looking forward to adding a technical drive like this- any beta on the road would be cool.
Yes this road is still open went on it the other day
It is, I was just on it this weekend.
Ur pretty balsy
Hi, I was wondering if you could do a video showing the same route Tiger Woods drove just before he had his crash? The news only shows the crash scene but not the road traveled and I would just like to see the actual drive on the roads he took leading up to where he crashed at, if you can do that please.
This spot is getting more and more attention unfortunately, I’ve recently been seeing more police there
Damn, really? That sucks! They there during the day I assume?
I was literally there twice this last weekend no cops what so ever..
@@ridernotrunner night runs are when you name will come into play cause that’s the scariest shit during the dark
that seems to be a public road with pedestrians that nearly get whacked several times, not a closed course with a professional driver, in a fiesta
Do you use radar detectors in USA?
I would kill to have a downhill like this. Amazing scenery
When ur going fast you don’t even notice it lol I’ve been once and I didn’t realize how good it looked I missed out
@@gurbs9252 absolutely, I experience this in other outdoor sport aswell
Good Find, A good road, Hope you come back some time and give it another go
There’s always a cop at the bottom be careful guys! Also watch out for the homeless people that camp out near the bottom they’re just on the road at night and there’s a lot of wildlife including deer so be careful for that too. Landslides and fallen trees as well. Other than that this is one of the dopest spots. Just give it a little more balls. This guy drives very modestly
Oh wow, as I'm watching I realized I'm moving my body with the curves as if I'm right there in the car 😄
by all means is this a closed course and with that being said a professional??? You are sliding more than a bar of soap in the jailhouse. Also what is your camera/radar mounting technique. Not saying ima do it better in my st but dude, a pro? 😭😭🤝
just what i was looking for. An ST
I wonder how many people have died going too fast and flying off the edge? 🤔
It's not a highly trafficked road, those who do drive hard tend to be more experienced, and there is no traffic (statistically, the vast majority of fatal collisions involve multiple vehicles). So my guess is that number is low relative to other roads in the area.
One website (without citation) says: "There has been an average of one person killed on this 5 mile stretch of road every year since 2013."
@@ridernotrunner it was kinda scary when I saw a person walking on the edge of the road. With all the curves, I'd hate to see someone get hit. Personally I don't think anyone should be allowed to walk/run or bike on that road, it's much too dangerous. Its dangerous for cars too unless you drive slow and pay close attention. You certainly seem experienced though and drove it well but even then accidents can still happen. Just please be careful, I wouldn't want you or anyone else to get hurt on that road or any other road for that matter.
@@septembersapphire347 absolutely fair, and I appreciate your concern and thoughts. I believe in being safe, even in the sense of "if you're going to do stupid things, at least be smart about it."
Yes, we always slow for traffic and pedestrians. Also, those longboarders are familiar with people's driving habits on that road and can hear us coming, so they were prepared (I slowed anyway as soon as I saw them).
These days, most speed/grip runs are done at night in remote areas when there is minimal traffic. Too many people have died or been injured from not respecting the road and others on it.
I wonder about that also, if a runner or biker were around a blind curve and got hit.
what road is this i live near by want to take my car down it
Please be very careful and do not push your limits. Learn and respect the road. Do scouting runs or slow passes to check the conditions. This is Tuna Canyon Rd, look for the one-way downhill that goes to the PCH.
@@ridernotrunner I’ve hit it a lot since this comment. My friend actually ended up at the bottom of the revean a couple months back on stunt road thankfully he was ok
1:41 I crashed my e46 right there
I ran the one way at 4:46 my very first time there 😌
Dropped a like like i did before
can you send the starting location? i would love to try it this weekend (:
No. Locals only.

Look pretty slow to me
To be fair, the video always looks slower than being at the wheel. It's an ongoing struggle with this. Next time I run it, I'll have a wide angle cam and maybe that will help
I'm also putting a high performance brake set on so I don't have to slow down as much on the bottom half next time. You can see I coasted a lot more near the end. This was my first time running this twisty in this car btw. Didn't wanna be too edgy
@@ridernotrunner ran this at night too. Was a bit overconfident from the Angeles roads and first time tackling these extra curvy roads. Honestly speaking, these aren't racing roads because going fast is almost non-existent. Unless you have high performance brakes, you'd be asking for all types of under steer and over steer of you're going more than 45mph
@@Jake-dh9qk you got it. I'm heading back down there soon, having just put on my high performance brake set. It will be much faster with those brakes on. Also the question of understeer and oversteer at speed on these roads is about handling too.
@@ridernotrunner yea I need some performance brakes. Ever since I got new performance tires, I'm not getting the slight oversteer like I used to have and instead is getting more understeer. I'm just looking for a big open lot for me to test out my cars limits before I move too fast on tight corners. Understeer is the scariest thing to feel.
@@Jake-dh9qk understeer is definitely scary when you're running canyons. I crashed once due to that and failing to correct it. There are some things you can do to correct balance and grip to reduce understeer though! Make sure your tires are pumped correctly and try increasing your front tire pressures incrementally until you find the right balance.
Wrong way dude, lol
Very slow. Even in comparison with the bicycle.
Boom! Hits a cyclist lol
Luckily there are rarely cyclists on that one-way in comparison to Stunt or Piuma. Tuna does often have skateboarders, but they hear me coming and step to the side hahw. I will admit I have had close calls before on other blind corners in the area.
@@ridernotrunner I have seen cyclists going uphill (wrong way), scary thing
Pathetic....
Thanks so much!
@@ridernotrunner good response!
He values his life.
I personally thought he was going a bit fast but that’s because I was ignorant about the history of this road.
Creepy hate driving on roads like this I’m from California lol
pretty slow
