Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses on the pretext
of the marriage he had contracted with a Cushite woman.
They complained, “Is it through Moses alone that the LORD speaks?
Does he not speak through us also?”
And the LORD heard this.
Now, Moses himself was by far the meekest man on the face of the earth.
So at once the LORD said to Moses and Aaron and Miriam,
“Come out, you three, to the meeting tent.”
And the three of them went.
Then the LORD came down in the column of cloud,
and standing at the entrance of the tent,
called Aaron and Miriam.
When both came forward, he said,
“Now listen to the words of the LORD:
Should there be a prophet among you,
in visions will I reveal myself to him,
in dreams will I speak to him;
not so with my servant Moses!
Throughout my house he bears my trust:
face to face I speak to him;
plainly and not in riddles.
The presence of the LORD he beholds.
Why, then, did you not fear to speak against my servant Moses?”
So angry was the LORD against them that when he departed,
and the cloud withdrew from the tent,
there was Miriam, a snow-white leper!
When Aaron turned and saw her a leper, he said to Moses,
“Ah, my lord! Please do not charge us with the sin
that we have foolishly committed!
Let her not thus be like the stillborn babe
that comes forth from its mother’s womb
with its flesh half consumed.”
Then Moses cried to the LORD, “Please, not this! Pray, heal her!”

Jesus made the disciples get into a boat
and precede him to the other side of the sea,
while he dismissed the crowds.
After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray.
When it was evening he was there alone.
Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore,
was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it.
During the fourth watch of the night,
he came toward them, walking on the sea.
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified.
“It is a ghost,” they said, and they cried out in fear.
At once Jesus spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”
Peter said to him in reply,
“Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
He said, “Come.”
Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.
But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened;
and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him,
and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
After they got into the boat, the wind died down.
Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying,
“Truly, you are the Son of God.”
After making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret.
When the men of that place recognized him,
they sent word to all the surrounding country.
People brought to him all those who were sick
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak,
and as many as touched it were healed.

Apparently Sr.Suzanne Toolan tore up the original writings which she taught wouldn't be excepted by her diocese but a student girl having heard it, came in ask Sr...what song was that, saying she like it and it was beautiful,...Sr.Toolan immediately took the paper from the trash and tape it up and the rest is history. That little girl saved this legendary hymm

I once had a dream and in that dream I was having pains in my abdomen, and it was because the Christians from Protestant denominations are missing the Eucharist. So basically in my dream I saw Protestant Christians having communion but something was telling me that theirs was not the true Eucharist(while I was seeing that in my dream J was having pains in my tummy)I was also having these feelings of anxiety and dread whilst I was dreaming this. I then realized that only the Catholic Church has the true Eucharist, the flesh and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sorry if it was too long.😅

@@Captivated2 Wrong, We believe in Jesus' words "Take and eat, this is my body" Matt 26:26. And when many of his disciples were leaving him because they heard his word, he did not correct them but solemly repeats himself, "Truly truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you do not have life within you" John 6:53 The Eucharist is our spiritual nourishment in the spiritual life for God alone suffices.
When i sing this with our church choir i love the part where it says he will live forever, always brings tears to my eyes, this is the hope we have in our precious Jesus

This is my favorite song I have ever heard at church. I heard it for the first time when I was very young at my grandmas funeral. Now whenever I hear this I think of her. When my family and I used to visit her my brother and I used to fight. The day after her funeral it hit me how selfish I was. That was the day I really understood why we went to church and started praying and paying more attention in my religious class. Recently I told my mother about how much I love this song and why and she can actually relate. In her culture when someone dies you go to church every week, not to have a mass but to sing and pray for the person. When her father died she remembered singing this song every time they went. So now this song reminds her of my grandfather. I love this song so much, not just because it makes me think of my grandma but it just sounds so amazing. Thank you for the melodious rendition of this lovely hymn.
This hymn, being one of my favourite ones, stirs a lot of emotions for me personally. The hymn brings me comfort, but yet I often shed a tear or two when I sing or listen to it.
Following the passing of my younger brother when he was 11y.o (I was 14 y.o at the time), I learnt to play this hymn on the organ so that we could sing this hymn during the week-long prayers at our home.
Fast forward approximately 30 years later, I selected this hymn once again to be sung at my father's funeral Mass.
During the time of my greatest sorrow, this hymn gives me comfort and hope that though I have to say goodbye to my father and brother, I live in faith that I will see them again.

This song is sung every now and then at the Catholic church where I worship, and it was sung again yesterday. To be really very honest, it's the best song I've ever heard at a church, and I must add that it brings tears of perfect joy and peace to my heart.

Whenever I sing or listen to this song, it really reminds of His love deep in my heart. I need to be reminded of His love as often as possible. Without Jesus, I wouldn't be here now.
Where is your church? You are lucky! I am lapsed but looking. I remember this hymn very fondly from childhood, school and church - it is a hymn that is impossible to stifle, even in the most lacklustre parish. It is an astonishingly beautiful hymn.
I have been listening to Marilla Ness's version too. Found this. Both very creditworthy versions, beautifully sung.

This is wonderful. I'm imagining the Holy Mass, these great voices echoing from the choir loft throughout the church, as I walk to receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist- the glorious summit of the Catholic faith- the Eucharist which thousands of holy men and women before me have died to protect; the mystery which we are all blessed to experience and accept freely! This song reminds me of St. Augustine's words, "Someone who sings prays twice," thank you!

The first time I heard this song, me and my family were in church. My daughter was 1 week old. Our priest was giving communion, and he has known my wife and her family for a long time. He married me and my wife. The look of awe he gave when I brought my daughter up to receive the blessing to this song instantly made me tear up. Such a beautiful song.
