    I need help with my torque tube on the end of the driveshaft there’s a wheel that grabs the flex plate and I can’t seem to get it off I have a 2010 corvette auto could you know how to remove that?

    Why not a carbon fiber drive shaft? The weight of a solid aluminum shaft would have to not only have harmonic issues, but when your pushing 900 to 1000 horsepower, you could twist the shaft under load. Even in the Weather tech series, they all use carbon fiber. The noise you hear is not gears, it's u-joints that are not fazed.

    • @CrazedPerformanceRepair
      @CrazedPerformanceRepair  Год назад

      Well there isn't any u-joints in this car so that's not the noise. I did eliminate the rubber joints though so it no longer has the ability to harmonic dampen through the rubber.

    Aside from 10 and 12mm bolts is there Any differences between an A6 and M6 ds? I need to by a cf ds and my supplier have one but do not know to the technical differences

    • @CrazedPerformanceRepair
      @CrazedPerformanceRepair  Год назад

      I'm not positive, but the bolts make a huge difference. I found out the hard way that a guy really should really hole and wire the bolts together on these drive shafts. Turns out no matter how much loctite you put in if it's a high performance application that can somehow work themselves loose. Drilling a hole through the head of the bolt and running wire to tie all the bolts together is a must in anything with decent horsepower. Especially when eliminating the rubber joints and go into solid joints.

    Hey my torque tube went out on my 2009 c6 corvette base model , so I just need to buy a new driveshaft? If you can can you share a link to a good one?

    • @CrazedPerformanceRepair
      @CrazedPerformanceRepair  3 года назад +1

      If you can get the hook up at the dealer you can actually get a complete tq tube assembly at reasonable price I believe. What you need will depend on what failed. Typically the joints or bearings fail and a rebuild can be done.

      @@CrazedPerformanceRepair thanks for replying, I was hoping I could just buy the driveshaft with the bearing etc because the whole torque tube is like 1200$ and the labor will run me 1100$ so I’m just trying to save a little

    • @CrazedPerformanceRepair
      @CrazedPerformanceRepair  3 года назад

      @@alonzo5.040 The driveshaft is usually fine and all you will need is the wear parts like bearings and rubber joints. The issue is if you are paying someone to do it the parts and labor might exceed the cost of a torque tube assembly when rebuilding it. All depends on the shop and their labor rate/time to rebuild it.

    Any issues with a dss driveshaft I’m running one but it has a rattle, automatic c6

    • @CrazedPerformanceRepair
      @CrazedPerformanceRepair  Год назад

      Found out it's wise to wire the bolts to make sure they won't work loose. Lock tight and torque to spec isn't enough once you eliminate rubber joint.

      So not matter what you do is still
      Going to have a rattle, i mena it doesn’t affect anything but is annoying

      @@williamalcala5660 well the automatic shouldn't rattle. It always has tension on it. Might have something loose.

    Hard to watch and concentrate on what your were saying and doing because it looked like you were sitting in a puddle of oil or grease!! ROFLMBO!!
    Do daily drivers 4-500hp need to replace their driveshafts/components as preventative maintenance or wait till something fails (85K miles)? Thanks for the great video!!

    • @CrazedPerformanceRepair
      @CrazedPerformanceRepair  4 года назад +1

      That's fairly mild power and unless you feel a vibration, noise or something I'd say you're probably fine. Not really maintenance until you get above 800whp or maybe at like 150+k unless of course you are drifting or doing a bunch of dig racing with sticky tires. Certain driving will beat on the joints a bit extra and might be enough to do as maintenance.

    Microphone, dude. Microphone. This makes me appreciate my C4, which has no torque tube. Transaxles are cool and all, but they dramatically increase service and maintenance hassles and expense. Moral of the story: don't buy one of these unless you can deal with exotic car kinds of issues.
