    Him lying about not remembering doing the arrest on Williams just four days later proved it for me... and in the first phone call with his buddy you can tell he's unhinged. No question, he's the culprit, and I'm betting there are more victims.

    I have a strong suspicion that he's not the only one in that department that knows what happened.

    The similarities in the victims height, weight, age and facial characteristics make me suspect that Calkins had a specific type he enjoyed victimizing. Possibly with a sexual motive. Also, serial killers don't sprout overnight. I think there might be others.

      There should be some investigations to search for similar victims.

    Very chilling. I am retired Law Enforcement and any time I hear a story like this involving a fellow officer, it just twists my guts into a knot just wondering if it is true that an officer could do this to someone. I feel like apologizing for being a cop sometimes! BUT, people need to understand that these officers are also humans, and killers come from all walks of life. Just from the information I heard on your show, I would say there is a lot of evidence that points to the cop having some hand in the disappearance of these men. I hope they can find more evidence in this case. as there are many family members missing these men. You mentioned that they could have ran because of warrants, but they didn't get these warrants on the night they went missing. I just can't believe that two men, in two separate years, go missing after having contact with the same cop. Sounds pretty fishy to me, and to just about everyone, but this doesn't mean he is guilty. That's why I hope they find the evidence they need to catch the killer. If this cop did kill those men then he needs to be in prison, but because he was a cop at the time, it should be the death penalty. You can not use your power to commit crimes, and murder is the greatest one of all.

    I really wonder if there are any other missing individuals that can be tied back to the deputy. It would be interesting if they could get a warrant and search his home. And the fact his car was "immaculate" that right there is a huge red light. Why can't they issue a warrant if he was the last person to see them both alive? It's like the police department are protecting him.

    Dash cams and body cams for police should be mandatory. There are good people who are police, but some sadistic bigots are drawn to the job. If they know they're being watched, it might lessen the appeal of the job to the wrong kind of people. Happy Trails, John. :-)

      +barbh1 I feel like there are two types of people who go into the field of police work: 1 group are those who deeply care about people, and want to keep people safe and bring justice. The other group well you can guess what kind of people they are. Position abusers, power trippers, etc. I agree about mandatory body cams, but they could always "malfunction" if you get my drift

    Naples is so conveniently close to the Everglades, seems to easy for this shady cop to feed the bodies to the crocs or something along those lines. I hope that someone is reasearching into this deputy's 17 year past to see if there are other victims as well. Again lack of evidence, but it's way to convenient that these two men disappear under nearly the same circumstances.

    The racial behavior/mocking Calkins displayed during that call, the fact both these guys were minorities, Calkins was the last person seen with them, and his story that doesn't match up with what witnesses saw, this guy killed them. It's so obvious, in my opinion. If they had ran away or been forced away, surely these men would've contacted their families since. At the very least. So that's not a good theory at all, I think.

    Anytime you hold some kind of authority position and you use that position to gain an upper hand over somebody or some cause in s deceitful or illegal way really angers me to the core than if they never held a position of authority in the first place. Especially a police officer. You put your trust in them that when those cuffs are on your going to jail and will be getting out soon and not going to your execution. How many others have gone missing at the hands of this officer that had no family or there were no witness to him arresting them. There is no telling. Feeling for the families. Great job.

    I don't like the fact that Terrence was close to a cemetery. Does it have an incinerator? No bodies or skeletons found. Calkins came back to the cemetery as it were a home base. Is the cemetery just a proximity issue? It would mean that another person would have to be involved, though, but then again, there were 3 police officers chasing the one guy from Sharptons show, if that is true.
    Two things that frighten me a lot about potential serial killers are access to incinerators and crocodiles/aligators.

    Not sure if it is standard elsewhere, but I know here (Oregon) I have never seen a cop fully arrest and leave with a person on their own. It's a lengthy process andother officers are called in, regardless of the crime. We even have an ongoing joke that it takes 5 police to arrest 1 person because it really does a lot of the time. Any arrest I've seen on the side of the road after pulling someone over as at least one other police cruiser and officer there too.

      Jamie Oakes tbh, I have been arrested a few times lol and honestly can say when I think back it was NEVER just one officer. Ever.

    It's scary to think of the mentality of those supposedly holding up the law. Though I have met several very kind police officers. So sad for the families!

      Oh yes I saw the documentary on that several years back but haven't seen the movie. It was shocking to see what happens to people that get power over others! One can only imagine the terror that has gone on in prisons now and years ago as well. So very sad!

    I'd just like to point out that this is a marvellous illustration of why I am the most liberal liberal who ever liberalled, yet I am against illegal immigration in any way, shape, or form. People in this country illegally are utterly defenceless. They do (currently!!) fall victim to the lowest, sickest members of American society. Look at the Charley Project, EDAN, and so on: the number of unidentified, unidentifiable(!) remains of likely illegal immigrants found should make any decent person rage. All a serial killer would have to do is to settle on a human who may be against their 'type', and they could torture and kill innocents with impunity for decades. And what about missing children? If a child goes missing and the police can't be called because the parent(s) don't want to be deported, what can they do? Things like this keep me up at night. There are too many unprotected people to just turn away. 😢 If this creep's second victim had been legal, he would probably still be alive.

    • @alicesmith7913
      @alicesmith7913 7 лет назад +4

      Liberal and wouldn't have it any other way. Peace, whoever you are, in our country anyway, is supposed to be a right... not a privilege. That isn't the actual case for the most vulnerable. We see examples of this time and time again.

    Horrible to see a murderer get away with just a loss of his job! This is why people think the murder of minorities by police goes unpunished at a concerning rate. The poor mothers and family of these victims just breaks my heart and angers me.

    The case against this cop is damning. My gut tells me that there is a sexual element to this. Both those guys had a certain look that was similar (even tho they were different races, I know). I think this cop chose guy's who he was attracted to, he knew they were on the bottom of the totem pole in life, had been in trouble before and they were easy prey in his mind. He was probably hoping no one would even miss them or that the media wouldn't even care. I'm so glad that fuck lost his job and I hope he's looking over his shoulder every day, waiting for the other shoe to drop, and when that day comes I hope they put him in gen pop!

    • @geniemeadows5122
      @geniemeadows5122 7 лет назад +1

      there are many men 1000s with the similar look. It is a cop who may have got sick of crime
      and lost his cool or just pure a psycho. I absolutely do not think sexual element.

    This being in Florida, my guess is Calkins drove to a Croc infested Pond took the dudes out of the car pointed a gun at them and told them to jump in the pond, that way even if a part of them is found it looks like death by Crocs and not murder

Two men, same scenario....It makes me wonder in his 17 years in law enforcement if he got away with anything else. I hope one day the families have closure. Well John, good luck with your move & travel safe. I'm excited to see your new set up.

    John, I think you’re being a little too kind about the police response to these situations. It took another guy, Terrence, to go missing for any other cop to believe Santos’ mom and family. Theyre investigation into the Santos complaint was piss poor and bullshit. Dont give them a pass. Im not gonna blame them for hiring a killer, that shit can happen to anyone, no one can predict that shit. But theyre response to the Santos family and the complaint was garbage. They did, finally, get it right, ill give them that.

    It sounds like the deputy's trigger for murder may have been people without licenses. I wonder if he had a particularly bad case or a personal connection to this offense. It's also possible it may be beneficial to look back over his previous cases where bodies may have been found, particularly well hidden bodies. It may have given the deputy the idea of a good place to hide a body.
    Also, have a safe journey and enjoy The Stanley ;)

    considering all the Press like you said if the cop threatened him and told him not to come back but now he's no longer a cop and neither one of these people come back? That doesn't sound right. If I actually ran because a cop threatened to kill me but I saw on the news all of this going on I would come back and I think most people would. I think it's pretty clear what happened here and I feel like you know John.
