It's been over 6 months now that I fully realized I should have known these things before I applied in Engoo so that I will not experience some kind of culture shock. I was working in ACADSOC for 1 year and 4 months, so I'm pretty much accustomed already to their system. So, here are the things you should know before applying in Engoo so that you will not be expecting things or shocked when you're already on board.
Important Notice: 2022 Update - Redo is now limited to 5x only, not 20x anymore.
1. No Interview
2. Training, Demo, Contract Signing All in Same Day
3. TIN is the only requirement
4. No need for Tarpaulins
5. earphone and wifi use is allowed
6. Smartphone is not allowed for Classes
7. No Lesson Material Training or Quizzes
8. Students from Diff. parts of the World (70 countries)
9. Cannot See the Lesson Notes from previous teachers
10. No Tutor Manager
I hope these will help you somehow to be prepared and of course, would not regret when already hired in Engoo.

It's perfect for sidelines, I assure you. Yes you can as long as you are 18 years old and above. School ID is enough and proof that you really 18 years old and above

Hello Ma'am can I use phone in applying? then after I pass I will provide because for now on I don't have financial to buy a lop top ect.
Hi, unfortunately phones are not allowed. Some was able to try but your chance of passing is higher when you follow the requirements. I suggest you can borrow from someone. I started with that myself. I just borrowed a laptop and a webcam since the built in camera in the laptop is not so clear.

Hello. Are you a Filipino citizen? If yes, then it's not allowed for now since Engoo requires Tax Identification Number for Filipinos. But you can try applying though. Engoo is actually accepting Japanese tutors. I think you can tweak that as to applying as Japanese citizen 😁. Please I would like you to try applying and see how far it will take you. I believe you'll be an asset to the company since most of the students in Engoo are Japanese.

I'm not a native speaker and not confident enough with my english skills (only got upper intermediate or B2) 😅 Do we get lesson plans (provided by engoo)? Hello po. I passed the demo last Aug 13 and right after they sent the email for requirements, i already submitted all of the needed requirements. But I keep receiving a contract reminder fom engoo, it says that I haven't signed the contract. I already signed the contract twice and replied to their email that I finished all of the requirements. Bakit po kaya ganun teach? Ano po dapat kong gawin? Thank you po! Btw, i love your videos teach, it helped me a lot to prepare for my demo ♥️

TIN stands for Tax Information Number, I think it"s only required from Filipino tutors
this doesn't require any payment? while applying and when you're actually working for them?

Hi, about that, try to log in again to Engoo using the link given to you during the confirmation of email, or you can also log-in to your Engoo account using the username/email and password you set. Then you can directly proceed to the next steps like audio and video confirmation, then the Language test. If it still doesn't work, you may email Engoo regarding your concern.

Teacher, naka pass napo ako sa demo at na submit ko na lahat ng pre-requirements sign contract, photo, vids at TIN number. Pang 2nd day kona pero hindi parin na a-active ang tutor's account ko. Nung ikaw po, ilang araw bago na activate yung account nyo?
Hi, thanks for dropping. WOW! Congrats po for passing the application. Since na submit mo na po ang mga requirements, ano po feedback nila? Approve po ba ang video intro at profile pic nyo po? If yes, then kasama sa e-mail na approve ka na, ang link para ma-activate mo ang account mo, on the spot pwede ka na mag plot ng schedule. It normally takes 1-2 days bago mo matanggap ang feedback about sa intro at profile pic mo.

I do have one question and i would be so grateful if you answer it ! I currently use a wifi, my download speed is pretty good, about 20mb but my upload speed is limited to 0.5 to 0.8mb, am going to have any problems because of it ? Thank you in advance.
You're welcome and thanks for appreciating my effort. Wifi connection is allowed. May I know what server did you use for the speedtest? Is it Tokyo server? If yes, then your speed might affect the quality of the video recording during the initial application but for actual classes your speed is OK. I suggest make a way to have a good connection during the application.
@@AbiGJ Thank you for the fast feedback. I did use a tokyo server. My download is always high but the upload is capped between 0.8 to 0.5 but never goes under 0.5mbps. I wonder if that would affect the hiring process. Another point is, I can share data from my phone to my laptop and my upload speed would go be 2 to 3mbps but it's pretty expensive concidering 30 min video call could use up to 1gb of data. Do you have any advice ? Again, thank you very much teacher.
@@harukobl9721 just use your best source of connection even just during the 1st application process coz it requires video recording. It will only take 15 minutes maximum. Actually, 3 minutes for the video interview. 1 min each question.
Then, if passed, the 2nd step is the teaching demo. You're wifi will suffice even during the actual classes, if you get hired.

@@harukobl9721 oh. I thought you're just getting started with the application. Since you passed the 1st application process, there's a higher chance that your internet speed via wifi will do.

Pero advice ko sa kanila, mag reply or mag send lang sila ng email sa recruitement na you keep receiving email about the requirements issue pati screenshot ng email or yong proof na nagsend ka na. I think, effective yon kasi di na nag message ulit dito yong may mga concern katulad sayo. Baka naging busy na sila sa klase.

Teach kapag po walang wifi puid po ba ang hotspot ng phone or dapat talaga may wifi?.
Sa mga actual classes, may mga gumagamit po ng hotspot during brownouts lang po or internet interruptions. Pero sa mga applicants, I highly recommend na dapat LAN po, para mataas po ang possibility na makapasa. 1.5MBPS po kailangan as minimum download speed via Japan server.
Hello po teach. (or anyone here, please pakisagot po) I tried the Language test and I already used the 5redos, ngayon ayaw na po. I thought I can redo it anytime. Paano po kaya yun?
Hi, teach. Yes, for 2022 until 5 redos nalang po, hindi na po 20 redos. Automatic failed na po sa language test pag na exhaust na po lahat ng redos at di pa nakapag submit ng answer. Try nyo po mag re-apply after 6 months po. So sorry to hear what happened, sis. Some, naman uses different e-mail, I don't recommend it though.

Hello 👋. If inindicate ni student anong lesson number na xa, pwede mo lang hanapin sa lesson materials library. Pero most of the time, lesson material lang naka indicate di ang lesson number. So, during the class mo na talaga malalaman. Kasi itatanong mo pa sa kanya anong lesson xa. Pero kung regular student mo xa, then ma idea ka anong lesson number na kayo.
In short, anytime pwede mo ma access lahat ng lesson materials. Nasa Materials section lang xa.

Ayon, korek din po yan. Kasi po, 0% tax exemption ay for those earning 20k below monthly. Pero meron din yon isa pa na type, para yata yon sa may other source of income.

Hi, teach. Unfortunately, no po. Required po talaga na desktop or laptop. Pag ma fail po tayo sa language test coz of technical issue, sayang po kasi after 6 months pa pwede mag apply. Actually, teach you can use your phone as webcam. Marami po tutorial sa youtube kung paano xa gawin. Marami na din po ako nakilala tutors lalo na from ACADSOC na smartphone ang ginagamit na webcam.

1. if ever po nahire ako, pwde ko po ba iset na ang want ko lang po turuan ay mga beginners? may napanood po kasi ako na beginners - advanced po ang pwde maging student (di po kasi ako ganon kagaling pa sa english kaya wanna try student beginners muna ang turuan and as my preferred student for the mean time)

No worries sis, ganito din ako nagsimula dati, sa mga vloggers lang din ako nagtatanong. I like how organized your questions are:
1. Pwede po, mag request kayo for Special Tagging, baleh i tag ka for Begginers na student or pwede din for kids lang.
2. Malalaman mo lang ang lesson material for Daily News during the class na, kasi saka pa magsasabi ang student kung ano gusto nyang Daily News.
3. Ang type ng lesson material at anong lesson number ay depende sa student, so tatanungin mo sa kanya yon during class. May mga lesson material naman na makikita mo sa Student's Request in advance, like "Side-by-Side" na book. About sa lesson flow, may "Teacher's Guide" na makikita sa Lesson Material, sundan mo lang yon.
4. About sa grammar at vocabulary, di naman kailangan marami tayo alam, pwedeng mag dictionary or google during class, di yon makikita ng student sa screen, wag ka lang pahalata. Pag di mo naman talaga alam, you can be honest by saying you"re not sure and you'll give the meaning and example in the Lesson Notes.

Hello po teach i just got hired 3 days ago and i have a problem with the contract signing po kasi. I already signed the contract po and they keep emailing me that they haven't received the signed document. I also replied to the email that i already signed the contract and attach a copy of my document for proof. But i still receive emails po saying that they still haven't receive my contract. Do you have any advice po for this? Im so worried and anxious.
hi, teach. That's terrible news. Try to e-mail the recruitment team, take a screenshot of the messages that you receive from them and attach it to your e-mail about your concern.

Hi sis Ruby, good question. Glad you pointed this out, I forget to mention it in this vlog. I'm so sorry to say, they don't give rewards, but they have incentives. One is, the "perfect attendance bonus", which is 500php, next is the "100 classes per cut-off bonus" if you were able to conduct at least 100 classes per cut-off, you'll have 500php. They also have seasonal bonus, like adding a pay if you book classes on specific dates coz it means they need more teachers to open classes.

Hi Miss Mariana, thanks for dropping by. I'm so sorry to hear what happen but unfortunately, one cannot re apply once terminated by Engoo. Here are the rules:
Reapplication after Termination of Contract by Management's Decision
Unfortunately, you can no longer re-apply if your contract was terminated due to any of the following:
Breach of contract
Violation of the Critical Banned List
Progression of sanction because of a high number of student complaints
Persistently high cancellation rate

The material for Daily News is in the Classroom portal already, but the mock student will choose what topic in the demo he/she wants. It will be chosen during the class not before. As for the Free Conversation, you'll usually ask the student what topic he/she wants to talk about.
For you to practice your demo, I have an interactive practice video. Try to scroll on my other videos here. I have one for daily news and one for free convo. Check also the comments section, there might be some useful insights you can use from the comments.

As per contract, you cannot work with another esl. But since you're still applying, I suggest that you don't have to declare that you are still currrently working in the esl. Just declare your years of experience there.

Hi. Thanks for dropping by. If the company is not a competing esl company, they no need to resign. But if yes, then you have to choose between the two. But, some are actually teaching between 2 even 3 esl companies at the same time. That's risky though. It's your choice at the end.

Hi. In my experience, fully book po ako agad first day palang. Until now. Never ko po na experience ang di ma fully book. I suggest, mag open po muna kayo sa peak hours, i.e. 6pm to 11pm. Sa Weekends naman you can open as much as you can. Then, i build nyo na po 5 stars para mas makita po kayo ng students sa options nila. 😊

Hi. I just used phone as well for my intro video. We'll the intro video will only be required once you get hired. So don't worry about it for now. If you passed, then you can barrow a good quality phone or even a video camera. Coz using an app or editing the video is not allowed. You just need to find a quite place with good lightings to record the 1 minute intro video.

If pasado ang intro at picture mo, at xempre may TIN ka na, you will be given 30 days to process TIN by the way, then bibigyan ka ng nga link para maka-activate ka na as tutor, pwede ka ng mag plot ng schedule mo, at kung may mag book then start ka na. Hi, so sorry for the late reply. Been busy these past few months. There's no buttons like those. But, tutor support is available 24/7. There's also a protocol for reporting such acts. Technically, you can leave the classroom even without the student's permission as long you were able to report the issue properly including screenshots, at also, the audio of the classes are automatically recorded. In short, have proof first before leaving the classroom.
