Don’t forget Johnny playing “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO during the scene where he enlivens up one of the birthday activities by riding around on his scooter and letting the other monsters have a turn riding it. That scene also didn’t age well and feels like something that came out of 2012.
Wonderful review! I honestly dislike this movie I felt it was too predictable not enough stakes just like in every other film, I enjoyed the animation and the landscapes and Brian Hull does a fantastic job voicing Drac I could hardly tell the difference between his performance and Adam Sandlers, however, it feels like Drac is keeping Mavis from away everything, mostly his plans and thoughts in general and keeping these secrets aren’t good for developing healthy relationship with his own daughter. It’s sad to see that he hasn’t exactly learned his lessons from the last three movies especially when Drac was taking care of Dennis he was putting him in a sorts of risky situations without alerting Mavis and having her approval or permission first!
@@disneyvillainsfan1666 Yeah! They could've made a scene where Dracula is all by himself at the yacht. Then he looks up at the night sky and asks Martha about his feelings and advice because he's conflicted
I personally think that this movie should have been about Dennis and Winnie's relationship, with the plot of Johnny and Mavis getting the hotel possibly being a side plot.
Having Dennis and Winnie show up for a total of like 1 and a half minutes in the entire movie was disappointing to be honest. They were the most endearing parts of the films.
I haven't actually seen the movie not did I really want to but the thing I'm wondering is if Johnny wanted to be a monster couldn't Dracula, Mavis, or Denis literally turn him into a vampire? Isn't that a thing vampires can do?
1:39 Let me just say that him being a red head or "ginger" was referenced in the first movie where Drac is chilling with the monsters and makes fun of Johnny for having red curly hair to which Griffen (the Invisible man's name) gets offended since he has red curly hair to which Drac response "Well how am I suppose to know that?"
A brief rundown on how I view the movies: 1: Wow! What an interesting movie, let's hope they do some cool stuff with a sequel! 2: Arguably better than the original! Such a good series. 3: NO NO GO BACK 4: *okay. this exists.*
So this movie is about Johnny feeling left out about the fact that Drac doesn’t except him because he’s not a monster. *Didn’t we already fix all of this in the FIRST MOVIE?!*
Yea they so dummed down Jonathan!!! I feel like the point of the movie was feeling like Dracula was to hard on Jonathan, but in the ways he was acting some times it kinda felt deserved?? Which kinda ruined the point of the movie for me To quote my dad while watching this movie: “it’s understandable, concidering his daughter likes a complete idiot”
For real, how did Johnny and Mavis’s son get controlled by Dracula’s spell in the beginning of the movie if he is a vampire. Maybe I’m thinking about this too hard.
I mean... She would look the same but with no fangs. She should be like what, 126/127 years? in human age it would be 26/27. Obviously Drac's appearance is going to be more drastic than Mavis'
Something about the HT movies felt wrong and it centered around Dracula and Johnny. It seems that Dracula is constantly learning the same lesson over and over. From the beginning, we see he doesn't approve of Johnny and it's the same in every fucking movie until the very end. Why did Dracula go through the same character arc with each film? Plus he just constantly lies and learns that he shouldn't lie and then goes back to lying in the very next movie? Like whaaaaaaaaaaaat? Dracula fucking lies, messes things up, learns that it was because he lied and admits he should've told the truth, and then he does the same exact thing in the next movie. Sure there was different stuff with the kid and moving on to a new love interest but it just didn't make sense for Dracula to continuously learn. I did enjoy the part where Johnny stood up for himself and got upset, but I wouldn't liked him to remain as a monster. I mean, I get the whole, "be yourself" message they were going for, but he genuinely looked cool. Edit: also apparently Ninja fucking Blevins in this movie? Like. . .what?
Everyone on Twitter: thinking that the invisible man was gonna be hot. No one: let’s make the lighting in the final movie worse, lets make invisible man ugly and frank hot, the sand man old, and NOT MAKE JOHNNY A VAMPIRE WHY 😡🤯🤢🤮🤮😢
Is this the first ever full on review of Hotel Transylvania 4? It's the first I've ever seen and the first time I've watched your channel. I'm glad it was recommended to me. I loved this movie, but like you said, it just doesn't compete with the first two movies.
You know what I noticed In this movie drac says “oh right can’t freeze other vampires” hinting at mavis yet in the first hotel Transylvania he freezes her during the zing song
It’s a tragic to see my childhood franchise disappear into thin air. I never knew this would happen, Y’all might have different opinions but I just feel like they should make more. Just Bc they are so well made and always super fun to watch. The mistakes don’t ruin anything about they”re movies. I just hope they make another one in 2025 or sooner or later. Just make another xd.
I think you're being a little hard on the third movie and Ericka. It definitely has the most toilet/crude humor of the 4 films, but I still think it had a nice message about allowing yourself to fall in love again and moving on from a tragic loss. I also love how hard that Kraken theme goes in the climax. Also, I wouldn't consider Ericka to be a "Twist" villain, since the movie tells the audience WAY before the movie characters find out. I think her character was more about the turn from bad to good than just being bad. I think the stair dance scene was really good and gives her a legit reason to start liking Drac and rethink her stance on monsters. I guess it might just be a taste thing, because I think the second movie is the worst. I thought 2 was fine, but those last twenty-ish minutes kind of ruin it for me. The whole movie is trying to tell you it's okay that Dennis isn't a vampire and then it's like "Nah! He is a vampire! Being a vampire is the best!" and before that it introduces a group of evil vampires. So, I guess monsters CAN be evil human killers, despite everything else in the movies telling us they're just like us? But, it's okay because everyone punches the bad vampires away and we have a dance party! ...Anyways....I think the franchise is still very enjoyable. 👍
I never was for that third one due to its execution on the monster hunter part, but the fact that Drac fully accepts humans to the point he zings for one and the most infamous hunter accepting the monsters as is at least gave it a purpose and message. The only good things in 4 to me is the transformation scene, the bonding scenes with the two duos and the one where Johnny flies before that stupid liar revealed moment comes up (the issue is the execution and the lie itself compared to the first film's one), the way the pack shade Mavis in a clever way from the sun and the marshmallow metaphor. Seriously those first 35 minutes felt so awkward that I started to feel uncomfortable myself minus a few of those jokes. EDIT: yes I agree with you on Wayne. His human design is actually pretty appealing. I like it
I tried watching this one and just within the first 5 minutes I was out. Johnny really just got too fucking annoying for me. Also Dracula not giving the hotel to Johnny because he's human? Dumbest decision. If the reason was because Johnny was too irresponsible, then I would've whole heartily accepted that. Also... Johnny, if your complaint that he wouldn't accept you because you're human, WHY NOT JUST ASK YOUR FUCKING WIFE TO TURN YOU INTO A VAMPIRE!? The whole movie would've been over right then and there
Honestly i could understand why Drac didn't want to give him the hotel, first its not exactly because he's human, its because Drac is afraid Johnny would mess it up, which is totally understandable since he's a manchild.
My ranking for every Hotel Transylvania film: Hotel Transylvania 1 (7.5/10): I love this one. The animation is stellar and uses cartoony expressions very well. The story is also good. My only problems is that sometimes the animation feels a bit too over exaggerated at times but it's really only appears in some instances. Hotel Transylvania 2 (8/10): I love the movie. The world building for this film is amazing. I loved Dennis and Draculas plot of Dennis trying to be a vampire. And once again the animation is stellar with some minor improvements. Most of my problems are with the humor and the 3rd act but this is probably the best film in the franchise. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (7.5/10): This film is funny. That is all I can say. The animation while having improvements is very over exaggerated in the film and while I appreciate cartoony expressions this one went over board. On the other hand the plot and characters remain charming as always and the third act was actually good... nah it was only a improvement over the second film. Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania (7.25/10): This is probably the weakest film in the franchise but not by much. It's not bad per say but it could have had some improvements. For starters the plot while decent is generic. It's literally a road trip movie to get a crystal. Second the film is way to short of a finale if it's the shortest film in the franchise and is 87 minutes. Third sometimes it feels like a retread of the first movie. But besides that the animation, characters, and some of the plot are still entertaining. I think this film while the weakest is still a worthy franchise. And that's all I have to say.
I love this series so much because of the first movie that had so much depth in it, i watch all the sequels hoping they would properly tackle all the problems, like what happens to Dennis(answer in the second film), the relationship between Johnny and Mavis, and Johnny and Dracula(answered here) and the fact of Johnny's mortality. I want them to tackle these stuff with the kind of sense from the first movie but they kinda got tired of making this franchise as seen in this film so i can see why they end it.
I really liked the movie but I also thought the story was a bit shallow. Probably because they replaced the original director Genndy Tartakovsky. He was a big reason the original movies were so good.
Like 3, the animation is the big redeeming factor. Also I think Sandler didn’t return because he was being difficult during behind the scenes of the previous entries.
I once felt like I saved my family's weekly movie night because we were struggling to find a good-kid friendly, comedy movie and just last resorted to Transformania but I suggested to watch Disney's "Encanto" instead and my family actually preferred and enjoyed it more than Transformania! Because u know, family bonding is always important.

Before I saw this movie I made the prediction Johnny would Maybe become a villain or At least Let being a monster get to his head and I was right(Not really)
as someone who's a huge fan of the franchise, im so disappointed in myself for saying i just didnt like hotel transylvania 4. it felt like one of these cheaper spin offs big franchises do and not an actual movie, definitely the odd one out of its peers.
you can feel the troubled production in the film from the release date situation and the story feeling really rushed and lame i really wish it was better than this and sony took their time with this one
If I were to do Hotel Transylvania 4 I’d make it be a time jump and have Dennis be older and a teenager and that he was going to be the successor to the Hotel and Dennis is a little bit insecure that he think he’ll let down his grandfather And there is a villain that is a monster that hates the idea that humans and monsters coexist and unlike Drac’s father he’s not redeemable and he plans on killing Johnny since his father is a military general and he could declare war on the monsters So basically Dennis and his Werewolf love interest have to go to where he or she’s located to stop her and protect the peace between monsters and humans This plot would be the Anti-HTTYD:THW (Where in the end unlike the dragons who go into hiding the monsters stay because the 21st century is ready for monsters and it would be a nice emotional climax/conclusion to the Hotel Transylvania franchise)
What I don’t get is why this movie seems like it’s trying to fix something that was already fixed in the very first movie. That is Drac excepting Johnny into his family and his heart which he has clearly done and it is seen throughout the movies, but then it feels like in this movie we’ve started back to square one.
Even tho I personally didn’t like the 3rd Hotel Transylvania movie it was literally the perfect way to end it off. But no.. They just had to keep milking it for money. Would honestly not be surprised if they made a 5th one. I genuinely would not be surprised at all.
I agree about the color scheme being good, and the animation was fine but i think it would be slightly better with less exaggerated animation, at least depending on the character, maybe dracula could have slightly more movement and seem bouncier, and Jhonny seem more stuff, the better represent the switch between both of them, also jhonney's personality completely changed and it's annoying
Im glad they made more movies of this franchise i just wished they put a bit more effort in them particularly the zing twice part i thought the beauty of a zing is finding your soulmate which only happens ONCE!
It’s for that i have so many problem about the 3th. The vampires zing only ONCE but nooo they just throw that like if we forget easily that without logic explaination
the nice thing is that they remembered the invisible man has curly red hair, as he said in the first movie. But in the 3rd movie, they forgot what Drac said about garlic. He said it causes his throat to swell up or something, pretty sure. He didn't say nothing about upset tummies. But i cant say much about the 4th movie....cuz i never watched it !!
my personal ratings: first movie : 9/10 second movie : 8/10 third movie : 7/10 fourth movie : 6/10 the last one is kinda chaotic in my view, the animation is good but the story is kinda confusing, johnny have changed so much like yo I taught johnny might act more like an adult since he have a child now, but nooo dracs step wife have more character development. I don't like johnny monster form tho.
I wish they had Johnny’s son more.He only appears when monster Johnny appears,When Mavis asks them a question and at the end.I literally forgot his name.
6:40 right here when the camera pans around to show the new hotel please someone make it to where it's actually one of the many fnaf restaurants please

Don’t forget Johnny playing “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO during the scene where he enlivens up one of the birthday activities by riding around on his scooter and letting the other monsters have a turn riding it. That scene also didn’t age well and feels like something that came out of 2012.
First two Hotel Transylvania movies are TOP TIER movies 😌😌
I agree. The third was an ok finale, but this fourth one, I will never consider cannon.
I agreed
Agree
Hi hello
Definitely they should have ended second film.
The summer vacation movie was one of my least favorite movies.. that's why I was so concerned for the new one :/
literally anything could top that one
@@Awesomemay agreed agreed
I probably wouldn't mind the idea of Dracula getting a new love interest if the 3rd movie At Least Addressed Martha.
@@Awesomemay agreed
@@disneyvillainsfan1666 Yeah! They could've made a scene where Dracula is all by himself at the yacht. Then he looks up at the night sky and asks Martha about his feelings and advice because he's conflicted
I personally think that this movie should have been about Dennis and Winnie's relationship, with the plot of Johnny and Mavis getting the hotel possibly being a side plot.
Yas
Having Dennis and Winnie show up for a total of like 1 and a half minutes in the entire movie was disappointing to be honest. They were the most endearing parts of the films.
I haven't actually seen the movie not did I really want to but the thing I'm wondering is if Johnny wanted to be a monster couldn't Dracula, Mavis, or Denis literally turn him into a vampire? Isn't that a thing vampires can do?
1:39 Let me just say that him being a red head or "ginger" was referenced in the first movie where Drac is chilling with the monsters and makes fun of Johnny for having red curly hair to which Griffen (the Invisible man's name) gets offended since he has red curly hair to which Drac response "Well how am I suppose to know that?"
how the heck does Griffen know either though
hes the visible man in his eyes
A brief rundown on how I view the movies:
1: Wow! What an interesting movie, let's hope they do some cool stuff with a sequel!
2: Arguably better than the original! Such a good series.
3: NO NO GO BACK
4: *okay. this exists.*
So this movie is about Johnny feeling left out about the fact that Drac doesn’t except him because he’s not a monster.
*Didn’t we already fix all of this in the FIRST MOVIE?!*
HE TURNED HIMSELF INTO A DRAGON! FUNNIEST SHIT IVE EVER SEEN
Yea they so dummed down Jonathan!!!
I feel like the point of the movie was feeling like Dracula was to hard on Jonathan, but in the ways he was acting some times it kinda felt deserved?? Which kinda ruined the point of the movie for me
To quote my dad while watching this movie: “it’s understandable, concidering his daughter likes a complete idiot”
One thing I find funny is that the film has the cliched Liar revealed trope yet it was already done in the previous films.
For real, how did Johnny and Mavis’s son get controlled by Dracula’s spell in the beginning of the movie if he is a vampire. Maybe I’m thinking about this too hard.
johnny is NOT a vampire
@@HereMays their child
@@monkeagents2237 i got confused also dennis (their child) is half human
Kinda a missed opportunity to not make Mavis a human since this movie is about monsters turning into humans or so
I mean... She would look the same but with no fangs. She should be like what, 126/127 years? in human age it would be 26/27. Obviously Drac's appearance is going to be more drastic than Mavis'
I love how everyone expected griffin to be hot then they just made him look like that one villain from the Powerpuff girls
I loved this movie, but like you said, it just doesn't compete with the first two movies.
when the wolf did TikTok dance that’s when I felt too much pain
I can't believe the people who made this movie did this
n e o n
f l u i d
You know what I noticed
In this movie drac says “oh right can’t freeze other vampires” hinting at mavis yet in the first hotel Transylvania he freezes her during the zing song
It’s a tragic to see my childhood franchise disappear into thin air. I never knew this would happen,
Y’all might have different opinions but I just feel like they should make more.
I just realized that if Johnny became a vampire at the end of the story it could have been less depressing
Yes, Johnny is gonna *Die* before Mavis and Danis by centuries!
Hotel 4 is looking at Spider-Verse 2 crying in the corner
I can’t wait for spider verse
I was really confused when literally not a single human reacted to a FREAKING DRAGON when they arrived at the airport and took the bus
Good to see a review that doesn’t completely overreact when things could’ve been better like other RUclipsrs.
Right.
"johnny's too talkative in this one"
clearly he feels more comfortable as a monster and just changed back to satisfy everyone else's needs,
I never was for that third one due to its execution on the monster hunter part, but the fact that Drac fully accepts humans to the point he zings for one and the most infamous hunter accepting the monsters as is at least gave it a purpose and message.
I like it
I have a feeling the 3rd movie would've been better off as a story of how Drac and Martha met and how they shared their lives together
I genuinely believe the 3rd movie was okay for a finale for this series
3:19 The joke is the invisible guy let himself go because he is invisible.
Makes sense especially when you take account that he's like 1000 years old.
@@SilverSnook7966 so what makes him immortal exactly? He’s just a human but invisible.
@@beeaggressive160 I dunno I guess all monsters in that universe are immortals.
My ranking for every Hotel Transylvania film:
Hotel Transylvania 1 (7.5/10): I love this one.
1:14 I have heard this audio clip so many times in memes it just made me laugh so hard.
"I will eat those colors" -Awsomemay.

I dunno if this makes any sense, but I hate the character's movements. You know, just how they move in general. Especially with Johnny
I really liked the movie but I also thought the story was a bit shallow. Probably because they replaced the original director Genndy Tartakovsky. He was a big reason the original movies were so good.
I'm just glad that this is the last movie so that they wouldn't milk This Franchise dry.
yes i am relieved
Like 3, the animation is the big redeeming factor. Also I think Sandler didn’t return because he was being difficult during behind the scenes of the previous entries.
Really? That doesn't sound like Adam Sandler. I mean sure he doesn't make the best movies, but I always thought he was a pretty chill guy.

I'm so glad Brian Hull is in movies now I used to love watching his videos
Fun fact : you know the invisible glasses dude right? He has a cult. People in the cult... SIMP FOR HIM????? And they literally became crazy after they found out how he looks.
I started watching your channel a few days ago and omg am having so much fun with your videos. I love animated movies and thanks to your reviews I'm gonna watch more of them (maybe even Illumination but I need to prepare)
Before I saw this movie I made the prediction Johnny would Maybe become a villain or At least Let being a monster get to his head and I was right(Not really)
I haven’t seen it yet but I will say I love the animation style from the trailers and clips I’ve seen! Looks really cartoony and goofy which I dig 👌
as someone who's a huge fan of the franchise, im so disappointed in myself for saying i just didnt like hotel transylvania 4. it felt like one of these cheaper spin offs big franchises do and not an actual movie, definitely the odd one out of its peers.
you can feel the troubled production in the film from the release date situation and the story feeling really rushed and lame i really wish it was better than this and sony took their time with this one
Finally! Someone who thought the 2nd one was good! Also, I think Mavis' superhearing is just something involved with her bat half.
I love your reviews so much! You should do Encanto next! (if you want)
it’s pretty obvious that Sony diverted all the animation department revenue to Spider verse 2.
‘I will eat those colors’
Best out of context line I’ve ever heard on this channel.
If I were to do Hotel Transylvania 4 I’d make it be a time jump and have Dennis be older and a teenager and that he was going to be the successor to the Hotel and Dennis is a little bit insecure that he think he’ll let down his grandfather
And there is a villain that is a monster that hates the idea that humans and monsters coexist and unlike Drac’s father he’s not redeemable and he plans on killing Johnny since his father is a military general and he could declare war on the monsters
So basically Dennis and his Werewolf love interest have to go to where he or she’s located to stop her and protect the peace between monsters and humans
This plot would be the Anti-HTTYD:THW
(Where in the end unlike the dragons who go into hiding the monsters stay because the 21st century is ready for monsters and it would be a nice emotional climax/conclusion to the Hotel Transylvania franchise)
Boring as fuck
Yeah the “ending” did not feel like a ending they will most likely have a 5th movie..
“HE’S GINGER EW-“
All of us red heads: *I feel very offended right now.*
5:23 if Johnny would eventually get to a high age Mavis could bite him so he would become immortal, right?
3:36 Walter...... white.
I love your editing and humor
Also, unrelated but you kinda sound like Matpat
3:02 you made me cackle in this scene
Why would they end this series? It's so cool and doesn't deserve a write off yet. Still has yet to be released on dvd or blu ray either
What I don’t get is why this movie seems like it’s trying to fix something that was already fixed in the very first movie. That is Drac excepting Johnny into his family and his heart which he has clearly done and it is seen throughout the movies, but then it feels like in this movie we’ve started back to square one.
*(1st Movie)* Me: “That was amazing!”
*(2nd Movie)* Me: “That was pretty cool.”
*(3rd Movie)* Me: “Uhhh ok?”
*(4th Movie)* Me: “Please just stop.”
*(5th Movie)* Me: “I quit.”

1st Movie: Mavis and Johnny fall in love
2nd Movie: Drac learns how to be a grandpa
3rd Movie: Drac finds love
4th Movie: *Everyone has a fever dream*
The first movie was great, the second movie was okay. But the other two...they ruined everything
I honestly agree with you because by the time his time comes Mavis would be a widow
I've only seen the first 2 movies, so thank you for catching me up to date on the Hotel Transylvania lore.
I dont think it was that bad, actually. the worst part about it was that Dennis and winnie got like 2 minutes of screentime.
the nice thing is that they remembered the invisible man has curly red hair, as he said in the first movie.
But in the 3rd movie, they forgot what Drac said about garlic. He said it causes his throat to swell up or something, pretty sure. He didn't say nothing about upset tummies.
But i cant say much about the 4th movie....cuz i never watched it !!
4:50 “and then Dracula falls to his de-“lol that got me laughing
In hotel Transylvania 1 , Jonny asked how it would be like to fly, in the 4th, he gets to fly

the last one is kinda chaotic in my view, the animation is good but the story is kinda confusing, johnny have changed so much like yo I taught johnny might act more like an adult since he have a child now, but nooo dracs step wife have more character development.
I don't like johnny monster form tho.
I wish they had Johnny’s son more.He only appears when monster Johnny appears,When Mavis asks them a question and at the end.I literally forgot his name.
