I find it really funny that the conflict of the third act of this movie is literally that the cute little koala is going to get murdered by thugs, and they combat this by getting more thugs to fight those thugs
Yeah, that got a laugh out of me too. After the way the first movie wrapped up, part of me wondered if Johnny's gang connections would ever come in handy someday, and "Sing 2" certainly answered my question.
The movie is about show business. Knowing you have talent, but hearing hard criticism. Playing a role that you’re having trouble identifying with. Realizing your learning style and finding the coach that fits your learning style. Parents using there nurturing lifestyle to overcome fear on stage. 10/10 for me because Buster Moon is the goat at putting a show together.
The Sing franchise movies are great but the only bad quality is that while Buster Moon is given a backstory from his childhood on what inspired him to become a theater manager it never reveals any backstories behind the other protagonists and heroes and what inspired them to become musicians and singers and gave them their passions and dreams and show flashbacks from their childhoods too and had a wasted opportunity to do so in the first two movies including Meena, Mike, Porsha Crystal, Suki Lane, Nooshy, Johnny, Ash, Clay Calloway, Rosita and Gunter. It also never gives Jimmy a backstory on how be became a villain to begin with and never reveals how Porsha and Johnny’s mothers died and how Meena’s father died (Who oddly enough are never mentioned or appear in the first two Sing movies) and treat it like they don’t exist and that their dads and mom are the only parents Porsha, Johnny and Meena have, oh well we might see more depth into that material in Sing 3.
I give the movie a 9. It was....almost perfect. I too was very scared because I didn't like Sing that much, but this was definitely way better. Some songs made me cringe, specifically "I Like It"......eek. But I did also really like Clay Calloway and his character designed. I almost shed tears at some of his scenes....but when you all put it together, it's a really decent movie. This may as well be Illumination's best movie so far, but we'll see how Mario goes....
This film proves that illumination actually has potential in them to make something fresh, they just waste it too much on those irritating balls of cancer called “the MINIONS”
@@dong.corleone I'm hoping for a sort of mcu style movies but with nintendo, meaning mario will be a fun family adventure, Starfox can be sci-fi adventure, metroid can be a space opera sci-fi thriller(which isn't happening with illuminations but I wish it could) if illuminations can't resist having toilet humor...they can make a Wario movie, and Legend of Zelda will start with Skyward Sword and all of it lead upto Subspace Emissary. In my dreams at least, because if illuminations does any of this they'll probably be filled with pop music, fart jokes and/or slapstick but, I can dream.
I absolutely LOVED this sequel, the characters were as good as the first one, the camera movement in some scenes was absolutely beautiful and the animation too. Sadly, I expected some more backstory of Clay and Porsha, because I felt like they had so much potential but the time wasn't enough. The final scene was a parallel with the beginning of the first Sing, I found that absolutely stunning and I sobbed for the entire third act tbh. Watching Buster being so happy in that theatre just like he was when he was little, and watching from the standout, god I cried so much. The characters have so much cute interactions and are so supportive with each other, I really like how each of them has their very own story again. Also, Gunter had an important role here, finally! I've been a huge fan of Sing since it came out in 2016 and it's my favorite Illumination franchise. Definitely it needs more recognition, I've been waiting for 5 years but it was worth it 😭
@@yourresidentanon4169 yes I wish Porsha and Clay had more background. In one scene Porsha is sad because her father didn't listened to her, and we could tell he didn't actually cared for his daughter, but it's all there
LOVED Sing 2. It was about time Illumination for once FINALLY made a film that wasn’t about fart jokes or Minion antics all the time. What’s also better is Mike The Mouse is GONE from this movie, which rocked because I also hated him so bad. I kinda wish this were the first film we should have got. I give it an 8/10, especially compared to the 7/10 I give the first film. Clay Calloway’s story arc was my favourite part of the film
YES! whenever clay was on screen i was glued to the screen, it was very nice to see how he feels about music. I think the first one being bad made this movie much more appreciated haha
@@Awesomemay Why couldn’t THIS ONE be the first film instead. Although one thing I wish happened was that they would at least mentioned whatever happened to his friend Eddie (the sheep friend of Buster’s from the first film that John C Reilly voiced). I am glad Mike the mouse does NOT come back in this movie because he pissed me off so much, I was actually rooting for the bears to kill him
I absolutely loved it, even more then the first one. The songs were great, the characters are awesome, and it’s honestly a very human film at times. It has its moments for kids, but the way it handles some of its themes are very mature. Highly recommend.
I can watch Johnny ( the gorilla) sing and performance 100 times , it’s one of those songs like “ we don’t talk about Bruno” from Encanto that just will stick in my head for a while and straight to my playlist . I feel like this movie had more drama and climax and struggle in a way. I agree that some stuff was felt forced but overall it kinda went with the flow , the music was exceptional!! And the character development of Johnny , moon , clay , ash and especially crystals daughter going form brat to considerate and young happy girl .Overall the voice acting and it probably will be considered a musical but overall 9/10. If they make a sing 3 , I would mind watching it , kinda wanna see where the break dancer lynx and Johnny relationship goes , she was one my favs .
she's called nooshy and she's one of my favorite new charcters in sing 2 and i knew she was gonna be an interesting charcter in a way from the trailers .
After watching this movie, I have become a fan of Clay Calloway. Also, Porsha's performance is probably my favorite. Her standing up to her psychotic dad is so cool (and she adorable in the alien suit). But all of the performance are great too
I think porsha was a really good character, starts out as a rich, white girl, lazy brat, later does her own thing, becomes a non brat, and finds out she’s NOT the center of the universe
Mm. I just feel like maybe they coulda expanded on that more? Or maybe expand on it more in a future movie (although maybe 2 moves are enough for the franchise. They’d really redeem themselves if they could hire people to write original songs, for once)
@@can0cringe yeah, I guess, though there is a self written song, it’s the one ash sings while staying at Calloway’s, it was written by Scarlett Johansson, who plays ash
I agree with your thoughts on the movie it was absolutely better than the first one both plot wise and animation wise. Also your videos make me laugh to death fr
this movie blew me away with how ABSOLUTELY amazing the animated production was. i was happy that Crystal didn't get some redemption arc and was arrested bc i was rooting for his downfall the moment he actually threw Buster off that platform. this exceeded my expectations by 5 stages. brilliant film.
same . but at the same time i was wondering and still am what would've happened if moon stayed on the stage at the end and he would be partners with jimmy crystal and wouldn't run away like that and would accept his offer . Propably nothing good lol bc as we saw crystal took all the credit for the concert at the end .
I saw this movie a few days ago and went into it with little to no expectations. The first Sing was an ok movie but I didn’t think it needed a sequel. However I was pleasantly surprised. The plot may have been predictable and cliche, but the movie embraced those cliches and made them interesting in the moment. It’s a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously so you can appreciate the light hearted atmosphere. Plus, as a huge theatre nerd, I loved how they centered this around writing and producing a musical. It made my little nerd heart happy. I probably won’t revisit this film often, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. A solid 7.5/10
when i watched first sing i was no way this ain't getting a sequel it can't end like that and needed some continuation so i knew there was gonna be a part 2 .
The budget was definitely way higher than the first and boy did they take advantage of that. Those set pieces are so entertaining like actually watching an epic musical and even though there was barely any original music in the soundtrack, the choices were fun as hell. Aside from that, writing and story is still the classic lazy Illumination style of storytelling. Completely forgetting Mike and Eddie is the least of it. Nothing is developed, everything is left at face value, many plot points aren't well thought out, and everything basically solves itself. But hey, nobody goes into an Illumination movie hoping for Pixar levels of deep writing, and that is ok. They're like the Blumhouse Productions of animation. They are mediocre and they are fine with that, because they make a shit ton of money either way. Their choice of not making it theaters exclusive shows this attitude. I might never pay a ticket for an Illumination movie, but I would be lying if I hated their films. This was entertaining and that's all I need.
Usually, I wouldn't watch random reviews on movies, but the way you explain them is actually really intriguing. And the occasional animation thrown in there.
I liked Sing 2. I liked everyone else, especially Nooshy. I feel like there’s some hidden lore behind her backstory and why she street dances. I had this theory that she could be a runaway. She might have come from a wealthy family but ran away after not feeling happy with the lifestyle she’s living in, which would honestly be good for her background. Hints for this, her clothing looks expensive and her nose ring. Overall, I liked it. But if they do plan to green light a 3rd movie, they could at least come up with songs of their own. So 8/10.
i liked both movies very much sing 10/10 and sing 2 . 20/10 (20 out of 10 ) i liked second part 100 or 1000 times better than first but first was also good . And my favorite new charcter and perhaps one of my favorite sing charcters porsha because she's interesting as character one of the most interesting charcters , she's cute , and can sing very well .
@@alekscrusher1571 Her character was interesting as well, but it was kind of a waste that there was not that much background for her. I was honestly expecting Buster to be like an actual father-figure to her and understands that throughout her life she was trying to get her father’s approval but was neglected. I hope they do this for Sing 3.
I'm still not a huge fan of any of the characters, with the only one I liked was the gorilla. But damn was I impressed everytime they were on stage. I wish we could get a movie all about the performances, cause it was very unique when it happened. I give it a 7/10, just wish the characters and plot was better
Idk if if changed from the original movie, but he gorilla also plays Elton John in rocket man. So if your looking to hear more of his singing you should check out the soundtrack for it!
actually both movies kinda were all about their performances so yeah . And I liked most of the characters bc they were very fun , interesting , cute and well written charcters .And you should watch first movie also not just the second .
I actually liked Sing the movie and was afraid Sing 2 would lose all its charm and just be a cash grab but I actually liked it! I would have watched the whole movie just for the animation and the third act. I know the space set design isn't real but it was STUNNING nonetheless (and the fact Crystal was ready to throw away all those costumes and 5 layer set on a dime is a crime-) I do wish they repeated what Nana said at the beginning of the movie to be the moral of the story but other than that its a solid 8/10 for me Also they made rollerblading flamingoes dance to DNCE and the night cleaners got to tap dance at the end this movie is great
I really liked sing 2. Definitely better than the first one. I also like that they added some older songs in there. Marketing was awful but what else do you expect from illumination. I like Porsha but I wish there was more of a back story on here. I did notice at the end of the movie Porsha left the big city and went along with Buster so in the next movie I hope to see more of her but then again I don't know if its smart to push a third movie.
I enjoyed the first Sing. Sure, it wasn't great, but I couldn't by any means deem it bad. So I went into Sing 2 with an open mind, and I had fun. I ended up liking it even more than the first movie. There were some moments that I didn't like, but the rest of it was actually really good, especially Clay Calloway. Seriously, that man was the best thing to come out of Illumination, period. 8.5, maybe 9/10. You know, between this and the upcoming Mario movie, this might just be a turning point for Illumination. This could be a sign that they're actually going to start trying to make good movies. Then again, we still got Minions: the Rise of Gru coming out, and we've seen nothing involving the Mario movie. So this could easily age like milk.
no legendary movies like sing and especially sing 2 don't age so easy i think .I was actually pleasantly surprised of how good both sings were because it was hard to believe that illumination could make movies like these especially sings 2 .
I was so hype when Johnny's dad came back. Him breaking out of jail just to hug his son was my favorite part of the first movie, so seeing him in the sequel was just perfection.
I LOVE Sing 2! Sing [1] was about a 7.5. [It reminded me of Zootopia.] Sing 2 was a 9. Clay Calloway is a really awesome character. I saw an interview with Bono. He said he had never done any acting before, but he has been around lions. He described hearing the bass frequencies in their growls and roars: "it's terrifying!". So, he worked on shifting his speaking voice from tenor to baritone to bass. [Although he sang in his usual tenor range for the Anthem at the end. Beautiful duet with Ash/Scarlett Johansson and Clay/Bono.] All of the songs are excellent. So is the animation. :D
This movie was nice. I am not a music girl, but I liked the first one, the second one is better. They went a bit deeper with this one and if they went harder it would been GREAT but it was really good. Idk what to rate it..... maybe 7? Oh and HI!
I went to this movie in theatres on Christmas Day and when everything was silent and Crystal was gonna throw Buster Moon, I said "Bye" and some people were apparently laughing.
I give this movie a 9.5. I gave the first one a 4 and it would have been worse if it wasnt for Johnny and im still standing. This movie had better animation, it was actually funny, and the story was good. That lynx was the best character tho. And when coming home from this, me and my siblings were more hyped about the movie than when we came home from the new spiderman. Thats cause with spiderman, it’s marvel. Of course it will be good. But this Illumination! Illumination is usually all fart jokes. This was an amazing movie and the songs were really good. Johnny kicking ass was nice too. And Moon had some character development. From going to a really selfish guy to caring about the well being of his friends. Overall a really good movie and would recommend! :)
moon wasn't all selfish in the first movie firstly he had miss krowley his secretary he cared about and didn't fire her when she messed and cried later and eddie his best friend .
I have seen it, and I agree, it is kinda a guilty pleasure which I won't let anyone I know know about😂 I may be in the minority when I say, I kinda like buster. I find him fun. I'm not quite sure why. I don't think he is my favourite from the film, but I think I enjoy him more then most. Or maybe I'm just childish. Not really sure anymore.
I think Illumination is also becoming like Sony in a sense, (If I am correct) Sony started off with more kiddy "made for a quick buck" output but overtime they start making better and more mature output, and I think Illumination is slowly going that direction too hopefully
Disagreed, Sony was always a studio with great artists. Surfs Up and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs we’re already better than any Illumination movie. Once Sony applied Lord Miller director of Cloudy they made their magnum opus Spiderverse. Nowadays Sony lets the talented artists run wild to create movies like Mitchell’s Versus The Machines. Sing 2 being better than the original doesn’t mean THAT much for Illumination.
@@finalmountain They started off in the early stage with Open Season, The Smurf movies, etc while popping out a genuinlly good movie here or there. Nowadays they focus more on creativity instead of appealing to kids, which hopefully could happen to Illumination since they do have talented ppl there. The Lorax during production would have been a much different and better movie if it was not for the higher ups being worried if it won't sell to wine moms and their 5 year olds lol
Better than the first by a long shot. The story and humor were an improvement, the songs were total bops, and man, there’s just so much heart, especially when it comes to Calloway. I wouldn’t be disappointed if Illumination kept this level of quality going forward, cuz this has definitely exceeded my expectations
I just watched the movie after neglecting it because of the first one and honestly I HAVE to say that these people really did good on this one, it’s a lot more ‘rewatchable’ than the first and Clay(who’s voiced by Bono lol cool) was probably my favorite addition to the characters
i personally love the movie because of the energy. the kids next to me were staring because i overstimmed in my seat. i was VIBRATING. VIOLENTLY SHAKING IF YOU WILL.,,,. and i wholeheartedly agree that the music IS ✨GREAT✨
i also don't get why there were kids to the right of me a few seats like 6-7 seats from me and staring a little was it because i enjoyed movie too much or because who watches a kids movie and genuily thinks it's good and likes it at 18 years old with his dad next to him who knows :) lol . But idk why they starred a bit honestly there were 2 teens next to us also to the right who watched the movie i think they were a couple .
I NEED A SING 3 NOW!! OR EVEN A SING ANIMATED SERIES!! Oh man a series would be so good, like delving into their lives and see how they can continue performing, like I wanna know Johnny's life how he's been, and stuff😳👉🏻👈🏻 or maybe going deeper into Calloway's past, cuz I feel there wasn't much to go off of in the movie. Anyway a series would really set this world probably on a Zootopia level, or higher!
I havent seen the movie but after watching this video I have a strong urge of dropping everything I'm doing to go watch it. Its very rare that a sequel does better than the original but from what I'm hearing thats what happened in this case and I'm now excited to see the movie since I enjoyed the first one a good amount!
You like reading comments? Well here is a comment for you to read: In my opinion (yes, my wonderful opinion). Illumination isn’t bad, I actually find the Minions funny and I enjoyed The Minions movie (I'm not happy that I do). Illuminations craziness that they bring into all of their films is something that I admire and people who say that they hate Illumination don’t realise that it's supposed to be bad on purpose! That badness is what's supposed to be funny! If you do read this comment Awesomenay, I would be honoured if you could heart it (or pin it…….)
Honestly I get this option , honestly I actually like the minions myself and actually kind of liked the minions movie myself . Now it’s definitely my least favorite movie of the Despicable Me franchise because they definitely only made it because of the popularity of the minions. Honestly that’s what I find annoying and cringy myself , in my opinion I just hate the popularity of the minions. They seem to be all anyone thinks about when thinking about Despicable Me which annoys me because in my opinion the first two despicable me movies are really good and it’s not because of the minions. I just think the first two have really good story lines and are just really cute movies honestly.
I loved almost everything about Sing(except Mike obv) but Sing 2 came out and I LOVE THIS EVEN MORE. I LOVE how they did not butchered the new side characters and subverted my expectations. I really thought Mina was gonna ask Darius to be replaced by Alfonso or have Porsha just sulk and be bratty around them BUT THEY DIDNT DO THAT AND I LOVED IT. I have a habit of feeling emotional when I hear a crowd in a concert harmoniously supporting the singer or character so I cried at Johny,Porsha and Clays performance. Genuinely a 9.5/10 for me.
I’m gonna watch this movie tonight and if you liked this movie, that gives me high hopes that I’ll also enjoy it Edit: I just got back from watching it, and it’s now one of my favorite Illumination movies
It’s amazing how if some RUclipsrs expresses their actual opinion instead of going with the popular opinion that doesn’t make much sense anyways, a bunch of people in the comments gain enough confidence to show their opinion too
Honestly loved sing 2 and all of the new characters Porsha has to be my favorite of them all and with the plot of the movie i was actually really amazed and couldn’t stop watching. I usually dont watch movies because its pretty easy to predict the endings but this one was a challenge with all of the curveballs in the plot like Crystal trying to throw Moon or Calaway loosing his confidence before his performance with Ash honestly i have to give it a 9.5/10 might be my new favorite movie. Yeah my movie preference is bad ngl
I have to give credit where credit is due. I saw this movie with thinking that it was going to suck. But when I finished it, I was like this is awesome. I want to watched it again. I think it's worth buying it when it comes out.
My only issue is Mina's romance subplot wasn't as good as I wanted it to be but everything else was just a major improvement over the 1st one, definitely 8/10 Also F for the mouse cause he's still getting chased by the mafia
As someone who loves the first Sing, i did not have high expectations when i heard Sing 2 was being made. But Sing 2 was way better than i thought, It felt like i was watching Shrek 2 but more shocking and colorful
I went to the early screenings of the film. I remember babies crying in the theater. Despite that I enjoyed... way more than the first one (I think the first movie is a 7/10 and the second one a 8.5/10).
As someone who's entire family and most of my life has been centered around music, I LOVE both sing movies. The incorporation of normal people who simply have a passion for music building up and persevering in the face of disappointment is so heartwarming. I found myself crying alot from some scenes I lowkey related to. def agree with like an 8.5 outa 10 for this one, maybe 9 since the visuals and characters are fun to watch.
Honestly the bus scene at the beginning with the crew rehearsing and then the rest of the bus joining in on the fun reminds me of some of my favorite memories Involving music. I guess I'll share a few of of since they mean alot: One time back in band camp we sang bohemian rhapsody on the bus alllll the way back. The entire thing. It wasn't very good and I still have the video of it on youtube, lol, but at the time is was kind of magical hearing the whole bus start to catch on and sing. These two are both from the same event. I marched 3 miles in a light parade with my band, we were all covered in lights my mom bought for the band to use, and I just remember focusing one step after the other as I listened to the same song over and over. I can't even remember what song it was but LORDDD it was so exciting. next memory was right before the last one :) the parade was for a competition, so there were Lot of other bands with us competing as well. Right before we set off and had to line up for our turn, our tenor drums got into a band fight with the band next to us tenor drums, and the guy from the other school took off his uniform jacket, got his friends together to hold him up, and proceeded to play UPSIDE DOWN. The uproar was insane and I'll never forget it. This other one is more of a favorite. My close family all know how to play instruments, most of my extended family not really. But sometimes we get all our instruments out, like drums, horns, etc and we jam out. My favorite time was when when my brother took out his accordion, which once belonged to our great grandfather, and played a song he wrote. He plays it alot, but this time around it was my grandmothers first time hearing it, and she cried while he was playing. One more memory was at my grandparents 50th anniversary. We held a huge, wedding esque party, so there was this couples dance for them, just like their wedding, and my mom and my brother played a duet. My brother on the flute and my mom on the violin. That ones one of the older ones so it's not as clear but it makes my heart feel warm
Glad I found your video. Sing 2 was such an improvement over the first one. And maybe it's because I recently lost my dad, but that scene at the end with Clay hit me like a feels truck.
I have never watched sing 2, but I excepted everything you said, except for Johnny’s dad that was an actual twist, now I’m thinking “maybe I should see it”
Nice to watch this after seeing 24 Frames of Nick absolutely tear it apart lmao Definitely a great movie (I gave it a 9/10 coming fresh from the first viewing), and I hope it gets the attention it deserves
i really did not expect for jimmy to turn againts moon, and the songs were very great and the characters developed more here, this sequel was definitely better than sing as it was actually very fun to watched compared to sing. This had an $85 million dolar budget and made back around $241 million so its goin well and that means many people have seen this great musical illumination movie
same agreed i find it funny how nick tears this apart for some reason first saying this movie is good and then saying later these movies are trash first and second . I also think sing 1 and sing 2 are massively underrated .
The one inconsistency that bugged me was that I feel like if Bono was depressed and hardly willing to perform, I doubt he would be inspired to sing when he hears his most popular song... personally, I would be annoyed...
I was actually surprised that I didn't hate this movie! I had extremely low expectations going into it but it was actually an ok movie, like I don't know if I would watch it again but I don't regret seeing it. I rate it a 7/10
5:23 my little brother pointed that out to me and I was very clueless about it until he said it 😂 Honestly, more decent than the first movie, especially the performance cause it was just a FRICKING BOP
5:23 the song is called Soy Yo, which means I’m Me in Spanish and grub hub using that song in that way is offensive but Sing 2 used it perfectly, it’s on just dance 2020 and it’s by Bomba Estéreo
this movie’s visuals were so fricking real i honestly doubted if it was animated. if someone told me that was live action i would believe them in a heart beat.
I haven't seen it yet, i want to, but for me, who is a metal fan, specifically Sabaton, my favourite kind of music doesn't get a whole lot of love by movies and pop culture, i kind of understand why, but still, i do remember enjoying the songs in first one, and i really want to see this one.
just watched the movie was pretty solid, we were expecting to laugh at how bad it was but left with a "eh that wasnt so bad" congrats illumination you win this round
4:13 I SWEAR TO GOD I SAW THAT SAME GOD DAMN COMMERCIAL 85,000 WHEN WATCHING CARTOON NETWORK. Like no exaggeration, EVERY OTHER COMMERCIAL WAS THIS ONE.
You know what surprised me most with this movie? For the entirety of its run time, there isn't ONE fart or butt joke. This is character development right here.
"We got this guy Mr Crystal who is literally just a furry version of Simon Cowell" That cracked me up so hard that I spat cola on the screen and I dont even like cola
I see the trailer for this movie like a hundred times a day at work, so I was planning to watch it out of spite, because the music form the trailer was living in my head rent free and I hated it. Then closer to release I found out they did a cover of one of my favourite songs, 'Could Have Been Me' by The Struts, and I was like surprised that they not only acknowledged my favourite band, but also didn't go with their one big song 'Body Talks'. Anyway, they gave my favourite song to the furry bait wolf girl, and I hate how much they nailed it. I know I'm biased, but the song fits so perfectly with that point in the story, especially for Porsha. And the bit where Crystal wolf man throws open the door in time with the drum beat into the second verse is so perfect. They did my favourite song so much justice. I hate the first Sing movie, and I hate that I enjoyed Sing 2 this much.
Okay Don't Hate Me But I've Been Living Here In Earth For 13 Years And I-I.. I've Been Obsessed With Illumination For 4 Years Now I Started Loving It Because of Me And My Best Friends Sleep-over 5 Years Ago When We Were 8 years Old And We Watched Despicable Me And Just Thought, "Wow This Is A Fun Movie"
I got the chance to watch it in theaters with my boyfriend and his sisters, and my goodness, it was great! The visuals were gorgeous, the characters tackling different problems in a new setting made sense, not to mention said setting feeling like an elevation from Moon Theater. The new characters were fantastic! I loved Portia (Mr. Crystal’s daughter) and Nooshy the most. Their contributions really helped pull the production together! Although I loved the involvement Nana had in the movie, I couldn’t help but wonder where Eddie was. I’d like to think he got his act together more and moved out! 8.5 out of 10 for me!
I love Sing 2!!!!! Because to me, it had SO many Cats Don’t Dance REFERENCES!!!!! It completely reminds me of Cats Don’t Dance! The movie was amazing! Honestly, if I had could work with our mane studios, I would write a sequel for Cats Don’t Dance! And other sequels, but also most importantly I would bring back 2D animation.
To me its a 7.5 out of 10 because there is SO MUCH GOOD IN THIS MOVIE!!! The Music was great, every side character was at best great and at worst tolerable, and the comedy was surprisingly good. I watched the first one quite a few times, and I hate to say this but the worst parts of this movie revolve around the protagonist, Buster Moon. The amount of plot recycling used from the first film was shocking to me. Especially knowing that most of it stems off of Moon's plotline of "Not being satisfied with owning a theatre that gets sold out with every show they perform so they go ahead and go to some Vegas type city to propose a musical to some rich dude. All while lying about everything," I never liked Moon. The worst part about the movie is how little he gets punished for lying (the movies resolution almost justifies it just like the first one) Johansson
Just saw this movie and honestly yea! I was suprised that this was better then the first. I made another group laugh by making a "oh they added nfts into this movie" joke
I honestly feel like this movie is not much more than a "next step", like, everything that they learned last movie is tested on a bigger stage, even literaly (sorry 'bout that). I did kinda liked it ngl
“I saw Sing 2, on opening night. In theatre full of CHILDREN!” My poor man. Hope you emotionally recover from this. I am going to say something my friend says too often, but it works in here. Ich hasse Kinder.
The second movie leans a LOT more into the cartooniness than the first one, so you get a good bit more Looney Tunes style hi-jinx. You also get interesting size dynamics when you mix two unique animal types. (Something you can’t REALLY do with humans that often. Even in animation) Also (Without giving anything away) there’s a scene where a character gets ANNIHILATED by another and even gets traumatized by it. However the absurdity of it was heightened because it was two goofy looking animals instead of actual humans.
if my brother sits through this movie without running his mouth or being annoying. It definitely is a good ass movie! I definitely loved this more than the first one. And, I loved the first. I do miss the mouse because not only did he sing my favorites, id appreciate seeing him get a well-deserved lesson. But, id love to get Sing 3 on tour or something like that! I'd totally watch it.
A month late to it but my friends and I just finished watching both Sings in a row. And I gotta say, compared to everything else Illumination has made, sans DM1, the Sings imo feel like an absolute breath of fresh air. Both are 8/10s imo, though I actually thought 2 was slightly better. But I honestly love them. The characters are endearing, they feel like they actually go through arcs, visually I think both Sings are Illuminations best looking films and Sing 2 especially looks absolutely stunning, easily one of the best looking animated films I've seen in a while. It was good, and here are my opinions of both. Imo I think Sing 1 got a bad rap because A) it was released in the same year as Zootopia and B) Illumination had started their bad rep waaay before then. So people branded it as "just another Illumination film". Which really sucks because it actually felt like it had heart and passion in it, like it actually wanted to tell something compared to its other Illumination peers beforehand. You know what watching an Illumination film feels like? A chore. Watching them feels like a chore. But Sing 1 didn't feel like that. The characters went through arcs, like Rosita staying true to her family but also staying true to her dream, or Ash using the show as a legitimate means to cope with her break up and show her ex that she CAN do what he said she couldn't. Imo every character felt endearing and nice to see interact, the songs were great, the final concert is so friggin hype. I could go on. Legit the only bad things I could personally say about it is that one, and thankfully only, unfunny fart joke and the lier revealed trope. And even then, it didn't feel that bad considering the cast really didn't care about the money at that point because they were all their for their own purposes. If anything, the money was just an excuse to follow their dreams. Sing is a great movie and I don't care what anyone says. It was way better than it really had any right to be and people didn't want to recognize it because they were going in with a tainted mindset. But it's one of Illumination's best and still is. I always look forward to a fun rewatch of itm. And when we get to Sing 2, they have NEW struggles to go through, but this time it's more related to showbiz and the sometimes really shitty workings of it. And yeah, I got pretty wary when Buster lied... Again. But you know what, it was swept aside relatively quickly so it's fine, I guess. And other than that... I again oretty much have only positive to say. The movie looks *stunning* omg fr what an amazing looking animated movie. And the Clay storyline? I was not expecting THAT from Illumination. THAT is what I want to see from them. More character story lines. Using the character that went through something similar but not at all simular, Ash, to help Clay out of that rut? That was great. The jokes were funny, the characters were still endearing but didn't feel played out, the new characters were good, Porsha and her arc especially. Just... Great movie. Just like Sing 1, it felt genuine. It felt like it wasted to tell and show something. I'm so happy it was a sequel done right, something Illumination has never done correctly before now. The Sing movies are the prime examples imo that Illumination CAN make good movies if they just tried. Like I said before, watching their movies feel like a chore. But the Sings? They don't. They're fun and actually feel heartfelt. Not like they were made for a quick buck, despite the licenced music mostly saying otherwise. And honestly, Sing 2 gives me hope, a small sliver, that Illumination is maybe finally learning and willing to be bold, do at least one thing different, and feel heartfelt in the process. I mean, with Minions 2 coming and no info on the Mario Movie yet, still consider me sceptical, maybe Sing is just a constant great fluke they somehow always pull off. But maybe, just maybe, this could finally be Illumination's turning point. And yeah, that's my long, LONG piece. The Sings are great, both are 8/10s. If you read this far, thank you for not letting all my typing be for nothing. Have a great day ❤
I completely agree with your statement, very great enjoyable sequel to a good first movie with the second movie having everything but better and improved stuffs in the film

Good review
Agreed:)
“Firstly Mario will be voiced by Chris Pratt, he’s so cool, Mario will be talking a lot in the movie”
Quote from the Mario movie voice cast revile
This film proves that illumination actually has potential in them to make something fresh, they just waste it too much on those irritating balls of cancer called “the MINIONS”
@@dong.corleone I like to think think the minions money adds a buffer for better movies.
@@Mysticgamer Yeah true to that, let us hope Illuminations Mario movie will be like what Into The Spider Verse was for Sony Animation
I honestly cried a little when clay is to scared to sing but then his wife is like right there and it was honestly a heartfelt scene

Not only that but I loved hearing Bono re-record that song
It was surprisingly cute. I was also shocked when Crystal was trying to kill Buster. Twice! I was not expecting that at all!

I thought it was *Clint* Calloway
There was a fart joke at the start tho
I absolutely loved it, even more then the first one. The songs were great, the characters are awesome, and it’s honestly a very human film at times. It has its moments for kids, but the way it handles some of its themes are very mature. Highly recommend.
definetly!
i also completely agree with you .
I also agree. Some of the themes are more mature.
I just love Halsey's performance of Porsha. The song 'Could have been Me' is amazing, and Halsey's performance is what makes it so emotional.

After watching this movie, I have become a fan of Clay Calloway.

This is exactly the first movie we should have got back in 2016
I mean I would expect it to be better animation wise, if it didn’t then that would be kinda sad
same and well duh it's obvious that after 5 years the animation is gonna get wayyyy better than 5 years ago .
this movie blew me away with how ABSOLUTELY amazing the animated production was. i was happy that Crystal didn't get some redemption arc and was arrested bc i was rooting for his downfall the moment he actually threw Buster off that platform. this exceeded my expectations by 5 stages. brilliant film.
same . but at the same time i was wondering and still am what would've happened if moon stayed on the stage at the end and he would be partners with jimmy crystal and wouldn't run away like that and would accept his offer .
Thank u so much! :D im glad u like em
I actually liked Sing 2. It surprised me!
It’s nothing amazing, but it was miles better than Sing 1.
I give it a 8/10.
Yeah I agree way better than sing 1

You gotta watch the first one that tells more about the backstories
Idk if if changed from the original movie, but he gorilla also plays Elton John in rocket man. So if your looking to hear more of his singing you should check out the soundtrack for it!
What do you mean by characters and the plot, I feel like that’s a very vague description lol

I honestly prefer Sing over Zootopia. It has a simplicity that makes it enjoyable. Not every story needs to be a commentary about society.

I know the space set design isn't real but it was STUNNING nonetheless (and the fact Crystal was ready to throw away all those costumes and 5 layer set on a dime is a crime-) I do wish they repeated what Nana said at the beginning of the movie to be the moral of the story but other than that its a solid 8/10 for me
Also they made rollerblading flamingoes dance to DNCE and the night cleaners got to tap dance at the end this movie is great

What I love about Sing 2 is watching the process of making a show. The stage setting up, the rehearsals, and more. I just loved it for some reason
Idk what to rate it..... maybe 7? Oh and HI!

I give this movie a 9.5. I gave the first one a 4 and it would have been worse if it wasnt for Johnny and im still standing.
Im glad im not the only one who thinks that Johnny hard-carried sing 1

I wouldn’t be disappointed if Illumination kept this level of quality going forward, cuz this has definitely exceeded my expectations

i also don't get why there were kids to the right of me a few seats like 6-7 seats from me and staring a little was it because i enjoyed movie too much or because who watches a kids movie and genuily thinks it's good and likes it at 18 years old with his dad next to him who knows :) lol . You like reading comments? Well here is a comment for you to read:
In my opinion (yes, my wonderful opinion).
Hmm.
I haven’t watched the minions in a while, so I don’t know what to say about this. However, I respect your opinion

I went to the early screenings of the film. I remember babies crying in the theater. Despite that I enjoyed... way more than the first one (I think the first movie is a 7/10 and the second one a 8.5/10).
Dude when Calloway's wife appeared next to him before he preformed I flooded the theater with tears
I guess I'll share a few of of since they mean alot:
One time back in band camp we sang bohemian rhapsody on the bus alllll the way back.
It’s nice to finally see a RUclipsr that actually sees the beauty this movie. A lot of other RUclipsrs underestimate it.
Omg I'm so happy I'm not the only one to LOVE this woman ! I loved it ! Also, I loved that Mike died at the end of the first movie. Tysm.
Glad I found your video. Sing 2 was such an improvement over the first one. And maybe it's because I recently lost my dad, but that scene at the end with Clay hit me like a feels truck.
I have never watched sing 2, but I excepted everything you said, except for Johnny’s dad that was an actual twist, now I’m thinking “maybe I should see it”
Nice to watch this after seeing 24 Frames of Nick absolutely tear it apart lmao
Definitely a great movie (I gave it a 9/10 coming fresh from the first viewing), and I hope it gets the attention it deserves
i really did not expect for jimmy to turn againts moon, and the songs were very great and the characters developed more here, this sequel was definitely better than sing as it was actually very fun to watched compared to sing.
This had an $85 million dolar budget and made back around $241 million so its goin well
and that means many people have seen this great musical illumination movie
@@albay543 agreed same
same agreed i find it funny how nick tears this apart for some reason first saying this movie is good and then saying later these movies are trash first and second . I also think sing 1 and sing 2 are massively underrated .
Fun fact: Suki Lane's first name is a curse word in Russian and in literature it means 'female dogs'
The one inconsistency that bugged me was that I feel like if Bono was depressed and hardly willing to perform, I doubt he would be inspired to sing when he hears his most popular song... personally, I would be annoyed...
lmaoo true
I was actually surprised that I didn't hate this movie! I had extremely low expectations going into it but it was actually an ok movie, like I don't know if I would watch it again but I don't regret seeing it. I rate it a 7/10
Same lol
5:23 my little brother pointed that out to me and I was very clueless about it until he said it 😂
Honestly, more decent than the first movie, especially the performance cause it was just a FRICKING BOP
Let's go another video! Honestly i really want to watch sing 2 now just because, well i mean c'mon. Also how are you doin May?
im doing great :D hbu?
I’m doing awesome! :D
Me too
it was like someone forgot to tell the people at illumination that they didn't have to try to turn a profit so they worked their tails off
I remember when I was young, I saw Sing and EVERY SINGLE TIME Buster Moon came on screen I would yell "MR. MOON!" in a british accent-
I recently went to watch Sing 2 in the theatre, and when Jimmy Crystal threw buster off the lift, this kid just yelled “IS HE GONNA BE OK!?!!”
I haven't seen it yet, i want to, but for me, who is a metal fan, specifically Sabaton, my favourite kind of music doesn't get a whole lot of love by movies and pop culture, i kind of understand why, but still, i do remember enjoying the songs in first one, and i really want to see this one.
Watch it. You will be surprised.
Slight spoiler: I'm a metal fan and my favourite song was in there.
just watched the movie was pretty solid, we were expecting to laugh at how bad it was but left with a "eh that wasnt so bad" congrats illumination you win this round
And it’s still funny at times
The casting of Bono for Calloway is amazing since they are basically the same, you didnt mention it but i really like it
"We got this guy Mr Crystal who is literally just a furry version of Simon Cowell" That cracked me up so hard that I spat cola on the screen and I dont even like cola
I am sorry but when I see the retired singer I always remember "music killed my grandma" from trolls
I want 2D animation back too.
The nods to PRINCE at the beginning & U2 at the end automatically raised my opinion of the movie. It was stupid-guilty-fun! for me.
0:54 wait WHAT!?! SIX YEARS!?!?!?!? _dies of old age_
All while lying about everything,"
I never liked Moon. The worst part about the movie is how little he gets punished for lying (the movies resolution almost justifies it just like the first one)
Johansson
is no one gonna mention that mike the mouse (aka petah groffon) didn’t even appeared in this intire movie at all
He got eaten by the bears in part 1
@@miguelizo1 thank god he wasn’t in this sequel, he was easily the worst part of the first one for me
Either the bears got him or the cops got him for fraud, Either way good riddance.
Already a massive improvement to the story lol
I loved his voice, but I'm glad he's not in here, too much characters
Just saw this movie and honestly yea! I was suprised that this was better then the first. I made another group laugh by making a "oh they added nfts into this movie" joke
I honestly feel like this movie is not much more than a "next step", like, everything that they learned last movie is tested on a bigger stage, even literaly (sorry 'bout that). I did kinda liked it ngl
I thought it was a bit better than the first film, too.
Yeah
6:56 that thing scares the shit outta me. It looks a little creepy and the fact it’s head it doing a 360 is just nightmare fuel
A gorilla and elephant could probably beat a wolf in a fight instead of just running from him
“I saw Sing 2, on opening night. In theatre full of CHILDREN!”
My poor man. Hope you emotionally recover from this. I am going to say something my friend says too often, but it works in here. Ich hasse Kinder.
I haven't seen the movie but if you have I've one question: does this movie justify it being surrounding around anthropomorphic animals?
The second movie leans a LOT more into the cartooniness than the first one, so you get a good bit more Looney Tunes style hi-jinx. You also get interesting size dynamics when you mix two unique animal types. (Something you can’t REALLY do with humans that often. Even in animation)
Also (Without giving anything away) there’s a scene where a character gets ANNIHILATED by another and even gets traumatized by it. However the absurdity of it was heightened because it was two goofy looking animals instead of actual humans.
I’ll be honest jimmy crystal is without a doubt the darkest and best villain out of all the illumination movies.
if my brother sits through this movie without running his mouth or being annoying.
The Croods is an exceptional, DreamWorks is really good at making sequel....Shrek the 3rd is the only time they dropped the ball for a franchise.
The New Dreamwork’s Sequels Like Spirit Untamed are not good at all.
Have a great day ❤
I didn't read it all but 8/10 is a valid rate and yeah I agree the movie is good and they just need to try more harder
I completely agree with your statement, very great enjoyable sequel to a good first movie with the second movie having everything but better and improved stuffs in the film
@@albay543 yes
What is wrong with you
@@VictoryReviews no what is wrong with you ? You know not everyone has to like sing and that's okay .
