I saw him play in the new year, millennium 2000 at the Boutique. He missed midnight as it was going too hard. Better beats and better pills back then 🤪
Dude hears music differently. He opens his Essential Selections with Walter Wanderley's Summer Samba. Who hears elevator music and thinks "this goes great with Armand Van Helden"? Pure artistry.
When he listens to Summer Samba, it is not "elevator music" to him. He knows it is Brazilian music in a diluted form for gringos to consume. He knows and loves Brazilian music.
When I bought this mix, I was in love with it, it stayed on constant rotation for sooo long. dusty old samples but all fused together with the bass and the stylish and expert technical production, it was perfect!
Epic mix. FBS changed my life with 'Rockafellar Skank' and I soon found my way into the rave scene, where I met kids who were down on his DJing ability. They obviously knew shit. This mix shows and proves!

Just listening to this for the first time in years. I was down the concorde (original) every night there was something on, the Boutique nights, Vibes Express, all of them. Absolute crazy days. I remember the last night there when the venue was smashed up as the night went on. Fatboy with a Stanley hammer smashing in the ceiling as he mixed. The best movement since rave and acid house began and never to be repeated. Halcyon days. Pretty sure me and my friends are in the queue on the cover, I remember the cameras as we queued.
I CANT wait to see him play this album ( 25th anniversary) at Manchester’s outdoor concert, Castlefield Bowl. !! 🥳🥳 Bring it on Norman. And I’m getting D and A screened in the morning. 😅 Perfect, happy daze
Big beat good really good! I love it! Miss it! Players Perth western Australia used to play nothing but and I enjoyed it. Don't forget it Norman! , am wishing I was listening to a big beat set alla norm right now. Would blow away the breaks kids of today! Loving the brighten feel on this mix also loving your lockdown mixtapes keep it flowing, respect:)
sick sick sick tunes. FBS is the man. so funny that he used to sound like a Chem Bros clone, cuz he certainly blossomed into a unique sound. he claimed he sounded like a chem bros clone, or at least his GF did and he didn't disagree.
This was my favourite album for a good 5 years in my teens . Just perfect from start to finish 👌

I’ve bought this on cassette and twice on CD. All 3 borrowed to people and never came back. Love it. Friday drive home from work.

So you was there when this set was played? it would have been my dream. Did you go often to The Boutique? The music was always similar to this album?
