    I own three rolexes all purchased from the same dealer. He now texts me when the new models come out because he knows I collect them. This video is so on point and exactly how it works. There are no shortcuts to building relationships.

    You got it completely right. I’d also add that there is no chronological waiting list for customers with no purchase history. Knowing the rules of the Rolex game will save a lot of bitterness. I would also add that one has to decide if they are a collector or just looking for that one piece, which can determine whether you build a purchase history vs going grey market.

    Good evening Anthony,
    I concur. I believe that loyalty is important in all relationships. One should find a good jeweler, and demonstrate their loyalty.

    Totally agree with you and can speak for myself because this worked for me. I've lurchase a bunch of non Rolex watches, referred customers, attended AD events, purchased jewellery, share articles with them and visit from time to time and last year they got me a Batman and Sub. That relationship took years to build. I want a Pepsi, however, so does everyone and because they've already got me the others, I'll have to wait for awhile. Also, i would suggest not calling and asking for every hot model... pick the ones you really like and be patient. Cheers

    Very well said bud! I’m grateful someone like you on RUclips tells the truth (on how hard-to-get pieces are sold) and wish I can watch your video earlier. I had the chance to purchase around hundred of thousands on different watches (Rolex, VC, JLC, Omega, PP...) and the AD contact me right away after they received the steel Daytona and Black Sub. Thank you! Subscribed.

    Thanks for explaining in great detail. The first time I wanted to buy a Rolex, I walked into a Rolex store and they had pretty much nothing. I asked the guy why doesn't he have the Submariner, and he said that they are back ordered for several years. And I got frustrated with his answer because I didn't understand why.

    I think this is true to an extent, but not set in stone. Back in early 2018, I called a random AD located about 2 hours from me and let them know I was interested in a 116610LN Submariner. They politely took my info over the phone, and within 2.5 weeks, they called me saying they got one in and asked if I wanted it. Of course I said yes and drove the 2 hours to pick it up that night. Yes I was extremely fortunate, but I was also persistent in my pursuit. When one AD laughs at you, or slams the door in your face, move on to the next. If you don’t give up, you can make anything happen 👍🏼

    It can also help to email your AD from your corporate/work email address to give them some kind of info about yourself, the company that you work for and I also mentioned it was for my private collection and not in a hurry. I believe a fancy job title might help as well, giving them some indication on your importance (and possible budget to spend there). Also some AD's search for new clients that are living a bit further to their store, in my case I was able to get the AP Royal Oak 15500ST Black dial with only one month of waiting and the assistent store director told me they want to build a broader client base outside their province.
    I fortunate enough and able to buy a Yacht-Master 40, Submariner 114060 (from stock, no waiting) and AP Royal Oak 15500ST for MSRP. Currently on a 6-months waiting list for the BLNR batgirl (order confirmation and 10% down payment has been made).
    Most important is to also enjoy the watch collection journey itself.

    People need to stop buying Rolex and stop the insanity. The company has obnoxious business practices for watch designs that are old and boring. I really believe people convince themselves that Rolexes are interesting because of the brand reputation. They change a bezel color and people are willing to pay 50% over retail??? Jackassery when you stop and think about it.

  • @aaronmunro5818
    @aaronmunro5818 3 года назад

    Buying Rolexes at retail is nice, of course, but you can get them immediately on the secondary market. You pay more, but you can also sell them for more. In other words, you most likely won’t lose money if you end up selling, and in some cases you can actually make money.

    If you want one you can either pay a premium, buy a few other lesser desired models form an AD to build up a relationship, or buy a AAA fake. The odds of picking one up at RRP are slim to none. You may convince yourself to buy an Omega or some other make, but it ain’t gonna hold its value like Rolex

    I've purchased all of them. My dealer called me on the no date the same week it was released and I got the call on the Kermit the following week. I've already done a review on it, side by side with my Hulk. Now I've purchased every single new Submariner, except for the solid yellow gold black dial and the white gold Submariner...although I did purchase the white gold Smurf just before it was discontinued. I also just purchased a white gold Daytona and a white gold Pepsi, with the midnight blue dial. I pretty much own them all now and have nothing left to do but move to another brand! I basically build relationships and show my passion.

    I don’t think the territory thing is a strict rule, I have a relationship with an AD in a smaller city a three hour drive from my city (the ADs in my city suck / too many VIP customers with too much cash). They just called with a steel sports I wanted and went on list for a year and half ago (an Air King) - I drove and picked up. To “thank them”, I picked up a speedmaster my son wanted for his birthday. They have me on list now for a Pepsi or Batgirl, I think it will come through in a year or two or three (no rush). Smart advice that if you have other watches or jewelry you like, try to get them at a discount from your Rolex AD, it all helps towards the goal. Don’t buy junk you don’t want though.

  • @hansstevanus

    Once my brother purchased the Oyster Perpetual in a Rolex AD in my town so I jokingly asked the salesperson what should I do for him to offer me a Submariner or a GMT Master.
    Perhaps because of my brother's purchase, he admitted that the store policy is that rare sports models will only be offered to VIP customers who have purchased at least around USD 40k from the store, meaning that neither I nor my brother would be able to get one even if they have it in stock.

    I’ve started a relationship with a Rolex boutique where the place is a privately owned business that exclusively sells Rolex. I’ve made a contact there, and have stopped in 3 times in the past 10 months. My contact has since mailed me a personal note thanking me for my interest and texted me she got in a solid gold GMT recently. I decided to swing for the fences and asked for a Pepsi. They did let me know they have collector clientele that have spent over $100k with them. I wonder if there is an expectation for me to buy a watch that they offer up, like that solid gold GMT in order to get what I want?

    Walked into a random AD about 3 weeks ago, asked for a 116508 Paul Newman and the 41mm OP with the Tiffany blue dial. Sat there for a while and had a nice conversation, the man said he will call me when they have the watches available. Two weeks later I get the call, purchased both watches and even got a 5% discount. Not going to be ‘that guy’ and ask for any ceramic stainless steel sport models but I would imagine if you came in looking and ready to buy 3/4 not so popular gold models at full retail, you MAY be offered a new sub, for example.

    Just found your channel. Great vids! Rolex started doing the same thing as Bourbon. Willfully surprising their supply to create a sense of fomo.
    Like bourbon, it has created a highly profitable secondary market. It his pushed several of my watch friends into other brands and buying Rolex reps, likely to never return. It’s a shame, but is what it is.

  • @andricopoulos70
    @andricopoulos70 4 года назад

    Unfortunately unless Rolex clamps down on the grey market and flippers these watches will become impossible to buy from an AD. The reason why I say this is the good customers who are not interested in a specific watch buy it anyway to flip at a profit. This only increases demand while supply stays stagnent. Although I am on a waiting list I have started buying other brands because life is too short to wait for years for a watch that may never become available.

    • @watchwithme91
      @watchwithme91  4 года назад

      Most ADs are always on the lookout for who’s buying the watch, it’s extremely important it goes to someone who’s going to wear and enjoy it and not flip the watch. You’d be surprised how on top of it Rolex is. It can come back and bite the AD if it gets flipped.

    Try to buy a DayDate or a gold sub at full retail and tell him right off the bat if you can have a daytona together with that, if the answer is no, walk out and do not insist buying overpriced jewelry for years, it's going to cost you more than the premium on the grey market.

    • @watchwithme91
      @watchwithme91  4 года назад

      Thanks for your comment but you’re wrong. Also, I would never suggest buying jewelry you don’t want, if you need it go to the AD of your choice and buy. ADs will vary as well. Some might have clients who purchase 500k plus a year and some 50k plus. That’s why a statement like if I buy a gold Rolex give me a watch that sells for 200% of retail won’t necessarily work.

      @@watchwithme91 it's absolutely true. Two years ago an AD in Toronto told me I had to buy a two tone Datejust worth 30K in order to buy a Hulk. At the time the Hulk was listed for 20K CAD. on the second market. The Grey Market sales associate said 18K cash I can have the Hulk. The math is pretty simple to figure out. This year I inquire about a Pepsi. I even offered to buy a 36mm yellow gold Day Date with diamond bezel and markers at 57K CAD and they still wouldn't sell me the Pepsi. I could have spend 10K above retail on the Grey Market for the Pepsi and save 57K on the Day Date that my wife didn't really want.
