    really sad to see people being so negative it's so uncomfortable. This is the new Dior! more feminine, ethereal, light why can't people accept that?? Galliano brought theatrical, glamour, extravagance! Raf brought modernity, experimental and a more architectural approach to the house. now it's time for Maria Grazia to show what she's bringing to the house! why can't people just accept that ? do people even notice one of the pieces resembled the iconic bar jacket in this show with her amazing twist ?? what the hell is wrong with you people! >:(

    • @oksanavig152
      @oksanavig152 7 лет назад +13

      I got your point. But, you should know that nobody will accept her creations if she can't bring something new to Dior. Here, it's like a new collection she just designed for Valentino. Madam Chiuri needs to know people don't want to have a continuation of Valentino.

    • @orangewedges
      @orangewedges 7 лет назад +4

      But she didn't bring anything to the house except Valentino. There was nothing innovative or creative and that's what people are finding issue with. She basically reworked her Valentino designs. This isn't the new Dior because there's nothing new about it.

    Sorry but it seems like the great days of Dior are gone. I see medieval clothes with Native American (?) inspired feather hats. Dior is not only an usual brand, it's with Chanel the luxury brand per excellence. And as you can see, only world-class designers are able to handle their very strong legacy. Sadly this was not enough. I hugely respect Maria for having the faith to do this, but if someone had shown me a piece of this collection, I wouldn't have got that it's actually Dior (possibly apart from the "reinvented" bar dress, but I have to say, it sadly lost its magic.). But the thing is that it's not the job of Maria to interprete Dior, but to create Dior to be interpreted. Yves, John and Raf did this, but as she said: she wants to even interprete the collections of Galliano and Raf in hers. Well that's not her job. Dior isn't this. LVMH, please do this favour to this world, and hire someone like Giambattista Valli, Julien Fournié or someone who can do Dior, as it should have the right to be done.

    OMG this is breathtaking. It's so romantic, like these girls are walking out from the Grimm fairy tales books. It is less Valentino than the first collection. I really like the new direction of Maria, the way she look at the archive and inject her new vision for the house. I find it funny how many Galliano fan always bitching about every designers that come to Dior. Galliano fan may hate it but i love it. I LOVE IT. Regardless, Madame Chiuri you are doing a great job.

    This is a very big step away from what Ralph was doing or John Gallinano, but my god if you want to talk about elegance and sophistication its in this collection. I absolutely adore this collection! The clothes are beautiful and the set is phenomenal. This is what Dior is about, honouring women and their beauty not distorting their beauty. One critique and I think its very important...White models? More women of different nationalities please Maria.

  • @dolanyao790

    The show is problematic and here are the reasons :
    1, look too much like her work in Valentino. You might say it's her signature asthetic but com'on, at least you should change the color scheme or the shape.
    2, the head piece and the set are WAY more interesting than the dress.
    3, Quantity =/= Quality
    4,Couture is the land of dream and creativity and Raf /Galliano did it by bringing fresh ideas into the house. Nonetheless, she didn't, it looks like a set a barbie doll dresses(pretty and pink) that you can purchase in bulk.
    5, Craftsmanship does not stand out in this show(Dior is famous for). one of the chiffon dress and Metallic lamé dress looks like a design school freshman homework/ afterthought.
    6, compare with raf and galliano, you can see her "reinvented" bar jacket are off-proportion. The upper body looks very heavy and I dont think women wants to look like that.
    Dear LVMH, you need a new designer for Dior.

    all who understand the Dior style, and all who do not like this collection, want to explain, this is 70 years of the brand and anything new in this collection would be inappropriate. we celebrate our birthdays, we commemorate childhood, not the future. So it's an ideal collection of the last 10 or many years of Dior. I want to thank Maria Grazia Chiuri that she did it. she did it great!

    The collection is very "Chiuri", who consistently brought her vision of femininity to Valentino and is now bringing it to Dior. Similar to how Galliano brought his world and vision to Dior and now has brought it to MM, same with Demna and Balenciaga. The collection is very much her own vision and is refreshing to not have Dior costume-y, but very airy, pretty an wearable.

    I think these dresses are really beautiful, I truly have been waiting for this: the true Dior, elegant, sophisticated, femenine, just fit for a real lady who knows how to properly dress, not like all these past years where everything was horrible and it looked like haute couture just didn't know where to land and just started making weird clothes and calling them haute couture. Great job Dior.

    My only constructive cristism would be that Maria needs to explore more sculptural qualities of monsieur Christian Dior to capture the allure of the Dior woman. Otherwise I welcome the feminine romance. Delpozo understands the sculptural qualities needed to capture the original Dior.

    • @BB-xm8jc
      @BB-xm8jc 7 лет назад +3

    • @jivagocampos8867
      @jivagocampos8867 7 лет назад +1

      Delpozo wants to follow BALENCIAGA ways, but he has no skills to do this. Balenciaga was unique, it was technique, quality, it was a time, it can bring it back. They're trying to bring back the past. That's stupid. That's not for our time. His clothes aren't well done. BTW, She's doing what he did: dress for fairy tales!

    • @allangradus1917
      @allangradus1917 7 лет назад +5

      Balenciaga is about creating a silhouette which surrounds/cocoons the body. Dior was about emphasising the waist and womans feminity. Both were architectural and sculptural designers.

    I would say this is very Valentino. But She's a romantic style designer, Christian Dior name was up in the fashion era called Neo-Romance. Maybe some looks are weird, but it's still works. Better than her first rtw for Dior.

  • @Teddybearboy
    @Teddybearboy 7 лет назад +30

    I'm getting bored of designers using elaborate sets to wow me; with a backdrop as magical as this I was expecting sprites right out of a Henry Fuseli dream, what we got were mildly petulant little girls playing dress-up in their wealthy grandma's teagowns and some Partyland fun-hats. This just makes me pine for early noughties Galliano for Dior, where the catwalk was one straight line with fluorescent tubes, but each exit was more mind-bogglingly and physics-defyingly stunning than the preceding one.

      Haha, that makes one follower. hurrah! I'm afraid fashion bloggers now survive by toeing the line so they can get into shows. I just love fashion for its technique and craft rather than for its connection to celebrity or what's in or expensive, and these days that's just no way to run a fashion blog.

    • @pagethreemodel
      @pagethreemodel 7 лет назад +1

      Dandylion Oh but if you were to consider it, you wouldn't have to go to the shows to write any critical pieces on the collections. You could just watch them on here. Anyway a fashion critic in an era where people are so afraid to give honest opinions about a collection in fear of pissing off the fashion folk, would be a fresh breath of air.

    Theme:
    A midsummer's night disaster.
    Key pieces:
    Disproportionate attempts at recreating new look bar jackets, Valentino everything, random placements of cut open sleeves and hoods, a bright green gown that has nothing to do with the rest of the collection, random metallic gowns for fun, nonsensical headpieces for added confusion, models that look as if they'd much rather be somewhere else.

      "models that look as if they'd much rather be somewhere else."
      I have always wondered about that "boring/not being here"-look that fashion models MANY times have (=are ordered to have) - while it might be fitting in SOME situations and clothes I often find that look being "displaced". Up to that in this show... spring and summer are seasons when most people are EXTRA HAPPY! I also wonder if ones senses would be more "positive" (so to speak) if the model smiles in the right situation/"atmosphere" - meaning that one might appreciate the clothes a tad bit more if the model makes them "presentable via a smile". I am actually leaning to that it can make a significant difference and in this case it is MORE than obvious for Me.
      Sorry for perhaps confusing words and grammar slip ups... I am from Sweden and not really familiar with "the fashion lingo" in English!

    Demasiados comentarios negativos. La colección es para los fanáticos o para los clientes exclusivos? No entiendo. El ceo ya lo dijo, Dior no volverá a hacer lo mismo. Y María Grazia esta haciendo un trabajo espectacular.

    I see it as Maria Grazia has gone into the the house of Dior and has said "oh i don't need to see the archive, i know what looks great for a woman and i know what women want" and has done dress after dress after dress, Bernard Arnault has gone to her this is Dior, so she added in the new take on the black and white bar jacket look. It's to similar to Valentino for my liking, yes they are great dresses, but come on... this is Dior we're talking about here.

    John Galliano and Raf Simons are the history in Dior already. I am going to see what is going on of the new designer and new blood in Dior.

    Finally the Dior fantasy is back! I understand some people might say its still very reminiscent of her work at Valentino, give her some time to adjust and create her own signature new look. Whatever it is, this is WAY better than the tea-length bullshit we've been seeing before this... sorry, not sorry Raf Simons

    magical... although you'll see some touch of Valentino in the show, still Chiuri made it Dior... this is the new Dior guys and in my opinion, its FANTASTIC... a new era for Dior...

    i think she tried to capture that Galliano magic but it falls flat. There isn't anything wrong with the clothes themselves, but they don't match the whimsy of the set. Some headdresses & masks do not compensate for the utter snoozefest. And the lack of diversity in the cast just brings it down another notch. Halfway into the show before we start to see a few models of color. And they call Galliano the racist.

    At first it seemed boring, but then when more of the clothes came, I suddenly realized that everything made sense. It definitely exudes the simple elegance of Dior, in a more modern way. It's not the loud and "give me attention" type of clothes that fashion week shows usually have. There's pragmatism in the design of clothes.

    I love the fascinators! That's all. P. S. Dior, seems like lots of us want the whimsical drama-glam back to the house, If you can't swallow your pride and hire Galliano back, please hire Thom Browne. Thank you.

    I'm all for her view and what she stands for, but there's something about Dior that's timeless. This looks trendy. 10 years down the line I'm not going to remember this collection. These clothes look cheap and last minute. It's unfortunate due to the high skill level of the ateliers that work for them. The 2011 spring couture collection really embodies the legacy that is Dior. It gives many nods to the history of Dior in terms of the bar jacket and the classic motifs Christian Dior created. I don't see a lot of that in this collection.

    As long as people buy from Zara cloths that are copies of haute couture and pret-a-porter( Dior included) no designer would invent anything that resembles quality and fashion. So Zara's power of copying could drain out and costumers be more aware of what luxury is and feel like.

    Thankfully we had some dresses from Schiaparelli and Valentino to fill our eyes a little. I did not see much of Dior, what was there was "disguised".
