The question of why we don't see any alien life anywhere is theoretically answered by the existence of a Great Filter: a phenomenon that any life comes across at some point that eliminates all of them without fail.
A Great Filter would have to be something that is either a difficulty or trial that exists in the course of evolution for all life anywhere and is insurmountable, or that it's a piece of technology that every intelligent society discovers but is unable to handle without it killing them all off.
In which case, this Great Filter could either be something that we passed at some point very fortunately, OR....it's right around the corner for us.

Considering that most war is based on resource scarcity and that scarcity pretty much disappears once you conquer faster than light travel because the universe is so full of resources that sometimes it's literally just floating in space tied to no specific planet. If that's the case then there's a good chance that they're several generations past their last war so Kyle's theory of them being peaceful explorers that we could easily kill and steal from is pretty good. The only thing is that if that's true then it could be our test to treat them kindly and we might just be given the tech that we might have otherwise stolen from them.

A lot of people believe that wherever liquid water exists life also exists, one of the ways to prove this quickly is to send a mission to Europa and dig under the ice on that moon until your under the ice and in the water below to see if life exists there too. Saying life doesn't exist outside of earth is like taking a spoonful of the ocean and saying there is no fish in the sea because there isn't any in your spoon.

Liquid Methane is not Water...My belief is Life probably exists outside of Earth, but isn't likely to be more advanced than we are. We'd see signs of life if that were the case. We aren't looking at a current version of anything in the Universe outside of Earth, we are looking at hundreds of thousands to Millions of years ago. If there was life on their planets then, we'd see some signs of it. Taking evidence available, we may well be the most advanced civilization in the KNOWN Universe, which is a small portion of what is really out there. For all we know, we may become the "Alien Visitors" that some other beings make up a creation mythology to explain away.

My “ufo” story is when i was probably 11-12 i lived on a naval base in New Orleans and i was playing man hunt with my friends, it was pitch black and cloudy and a few of us were on like the schools track and right above us there were triangular lights flying over us, making no noise at all, trust me i grew up around fighter jets, helis, and even stealth bombers.. this shit was silent

One time we were at a friend's house that lived rural miles away from my house. Nothing but open fields untill my house and the city. Well one night his dad was losing his shit so we climbed out his bedroom window and decided to walk to my house at 12 at night. When we were really far from his house walking out there I noticed some lights out in the field from us and I said why is there street lights over there. My friend said that there aren't any street lights out here. Dumb question on my part but then all of a sudden they shot off into the sky and disappeared. We lost our shit. This was in 2013.

Like mathematically speaking the fact that we exist almost guarantees that another sentient lifeform exists somewhere out there. It just sucks that the same math that says that ends up screwing us with the chances of them existing on the complete opposite side of the universe being just as likely as being right "next door" so to speak. Live by the math die by the math lol

About craft crashing, it could be deliberate either so that we would find it and get a technical boost or more likely in exactly the same way we crash craft into Mars and such, never expecting to recover them but have them send data back. Just because there's alien stuff at area 51 doesn't mean it has to be a vehicle it's much more likely to be some kind of drone

Have they considered that possibly the aliens might see us as excellent shock troopers?
Bring us in as soldiers like the Covenant?

  • @Connection-Lost

Believing in "aliens" visiting us comes directly from 2 things and only these 2 things: Your ability to think critically about what technologies could exist has been poisoned by a non-stop barrage of sci-fi and theory crafting, and You have a complete inability to grasp the scales involved in interstellar travel. For all we know, the only way to get from star to star could be a generational ship that takes 70,000 years between stops. But you'd have too many planets to "check", so that's not a great method. All of this is moot though since aliens can't even "see" us due to light speed being so insanely slow at a galactic scale. Effectively, no one in the universe can even tell there is "intelligent" life here. Because the spectral light change from our effects on the atmosphere has not reached them.

Watching Independence Day as a kid, I actually thought the plot was quite smart. But then Patrice O'Neal thought me better; Why would the Uber-Mothership let in a small ship, and why did nobody say: "Hey isn't that the 1948's model?"
