- What's up guys Jeff from Sorta Healthy here! In today's video we'll be going over muscular anatomy for the lower body. In this video I aim to break down basic lower body muscle anatomy in a way that will be useful for personal trainers and massage therapists in particular.
Personal Trainers and massage therapists need to have a general understanding of the lower body muscles, but we don't need to be experts in all areas. Whether you're studying for a personal trainer certification exam, like your NASM, or ACE exam, or for an MBLEX exam, or maybe you're just looking for some muscle review , we've got you covered! Some of the muscle groups that we'll be focusing on in particular are:
The quadricep muscles
The hamstring muscles
The gluteus muscles
The TFL or Tensor Fasciae Latae
The Gastrocnemius and soleus
and many more!
We'll also be focusing in on different muscle actions such as flexion, extension, abduction, etc. We'll be breaking down these muscle motions because that will allow for a greater understanding of what muscles really do, and it will allow us to understand interactions between prime movers and antagonist muscles.
Thanks for the continued support everyone! It's very appreciated!

Your videos are helping me a lot in starting my business. Thank you very much! How do you integrate massage therapy with your personal training clients? I am a certified massage therapist and practiced for 10 years. Now starting personal training for 50+
Thanks for the support! I do about 3-5 mins of assisted stretching at the end of a session. I’d say I incorporate a small amount of massage techniques there. I also used to offer massage therapy as a separate service in my studio. We’re busy enough with training where we don’t do too much massage anymore though.
Very helpful 👌
Glad you think so!
Thank you
Of course!

Would you ever do a review on the CCP certification from OPEX??
Maybe! Honestly, I haven’t heard too much about that one.
Personally I prefer writing while following along, making my own study guide. Makes it sink in better.
That works well too!
great video, just one thing when you explain the hamstrings at minute 7.33 the biceps femoris is the one on the outside while the semitendinus is the middle one. Thumbs up for the video anyway 😬
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it!
Hey jeff, great video!
On your course tier list, I see a Massage Therapy course on the B tier, but I can’t seem to find the video review
Thanks! I did an old video where I reviewed a bunch of things at once. The massage therapy license was one of those things. Since then a bunch of things have moved on the tier list. This is the video: ruclips.net/video/irTgcINFKlI/видео.html

Lower body download is not working.
Thanks for the video!
Sorry for the late response! It seems to be working when I go to it.

I graduated in August 22 and still haven't gotten the green light take the mblex any advise on studying.
Anatomy and physiology is important but a lot of the other stuff (techniques, pathology, best practices) are more important.
I used the Pocket Prep app for the MBLEX and found that helpful for review
Thank you.
Glut max bigger than lattisimus dorsi?
It is!
really hates sitting it’s awful for you
I think the hammy group is off
How so?
I wish school would be more clear instead of confusing me
Thanks for jumping in. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s not clear?
@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation is the way schools teach they can’t give us a direct answer
please share best institute ISSA certificate in America please share address and location
I’m not sure I understand your question! The ISSA certification is done fully online. So no need for any addresses. As far as who accepts that certification, it’s tough to say. Some gyms are ok with it and others aren’t. You’d be best off contacting individual gyms at that point.
@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation thanks you sir
videos are good i use the to help with training, however, I don't care for the comments that you don't need to know things like insertion points. I guess anyone can be a substandard or low skill massage therapist, but if you want to do a good job in your massage practice you absolutely need to know origin and insertions. Please tailer the videos for quality practitioners as well as the average relaxer who does massage. Other than that, Extremely helpful and entertaining videos.
That’s fair! I think if you watch the three videos you’ll notice how I often say, “not necessary for trainers, but potentially useful for massage therapists” when it comes to insertions and origins.
Also, it’s not common to see many, if any insertion or origin questions on the MBLEX either. This video, in large part, is meant to be helpful in preparation for that and trainer exams. If we tried to include all of the insertions and origins in this video, I think it would have been information overload.
Again, I do agree that origins and insertions are useful to know for LMT’s though.
