Plenty of small breeds don't bark or "yap". I had two Coton de Tulear and rarely heard the older one bark. The younger one barked in excitement, for example when we got home. I guess it's easy to stick to stereotypes tho. But you can't really generalize all small dogs into one group.

It's an observation I've seen irl or from the media that small dogs are yippers (probably as a self defence mechanism since they are so tiny). Not to say some bigger dogs aren't (huskies!) but if a breed has tendencies to be talkers, they do. If I had my own home or lived in the country side, I wouldn't worry as much. I have had 5 Biewers, starting in 2009. They are gentle. Very little barking. They are calm. They are welcoming and enjoy people. You do need to maintain daily grooming at home and good dental hygiene. They are a wonderful breed. I have 2 in my home now. One is almost 16 years old and the other is 10. True Biewers have parents who have been DNA tested to ensure they are pure breed. Steer clear of anyone who advertises “Biewer Yorkie” or “Parti Yorkie”. They are not Biewers and are the product of breeders who are invested more in the dollar sign than the dog.
We were very happy with the credentials of our Breeder but we had the DNA done for medical predisposition that breeder could not foresee. It was no sure that she came back 100%Biewer and is AKC and CKC registered. You are so right about the deceptive practices of some breeders!!

If they like to hug the wall and you have a harder time having a comfortable reach, I would suggest a sort of harder foam block that can block the back part of the table so they can still “hug the wall” but still be close to the front for easier reach. For the rage cage for simple solutions, I would suggest silicone coverings to go over the holes but with openings like a straw hole for easy hand access, some snap latches that can easily be attached on the top and/or bottom of the doors to hold them closed better, and for it being clear, there is always window decals or making a border with peel and stick wallpaper or something to indicate there is a window/wall there. Just some thoughts. Love the videos!!! ❤

@@FranciscaAVior Cavies just have _so_ many health issues unless you're really really picky about what lines you're selecting. my friend got hers from a UK breeder and personally flew over the pond to get him. he's so far avoided the seizures and knee and hip issues, and his heart is healthy. he was from a non sanctioned litter but the parents were greenlit to breed (just not so soon!). they are cute dogs.

Your pronunciation of "Biewer Terrier" is correct according to Wikipedia. The breed apparently started out as a dog descended from two Yorkshire Terriers with recessive piebald genes. Duchess is absolutely adorable! I grew up with a Yorkie, and I managed to train him to circle the perimeter of our property at two different houses (we moved). He was a sweetie.
We have one and a word of advice: play with her paws, ears and mouth every time you do anything with her. It helps with their tendency to bite and our vet loves us for it - they carry her around and melt every time.

That silvery fur around her back legs is GORGEOUS! What a beauty! I have a shih tzu whose coat is very similar to her coat. It’s very cottony and fine, and you’re right. It does mat VERY easily. But again, as you stated, they come out pretty easily. I brush my boy pretty much daily just to prevent any matting. His sister on the other hand, has a silky, show-quality coat. Shih tzu can have two types of coat. One is somewhat wavy and cottony. The other is silky, straight and much easier to maintain.
The breed was with ARBA for years while the Breed Club pursued AKC recognition. My hats off to the early breed foundation in the USA. Wonderful breeders.
The Biewer Terrier kind of reminds me of the Havanese. I don't think I've ever seen one in person, but there are a lot of Havanese around where I live in South Australia.
If their personalities are anything like a Yorkie’s, it could mean they rule your house like a tiny dictator & allow you to live in their domain. They could also be talking about the high energy & prey drive ppl don’t expect from small dogs. It’s all fun & games until you play fetch for an hour straight OR they gift you with the bunny they just killed in your backyard. Just possibilities tho. For all we know, the person might be talking about upkeep for brushing & grooming their long coats. 🤷♀️
Dutchess looks a lot like a little mix that one of my former neighbors had. She was half Shi Tsu and half mystery mix named Peanut. Dutchess is A WHOOLE LOT calmer, though!

Also, the Breed Association has a rescue arm if you are interest. I have a rescue Biewer now who is 10, and one from a good breeder that I got as a puppy and will be 16 on her next birthday. Velcro dogs.

Adorable dog! You do an admirable job grooming. Your nail trimming is exceptional. After my wife(of 37 years) passed, I took her chihuahua in for check-ups, vaccines, nail-trimming, and his screams from their cutting-into his quick was always sad. You are truly a great groomer. 👍🐕🐈❤

(My wife's father was a veterinarian, old school. She had show horses, cats, dogs, and even a de-scented skunk.) Vanessa's videos are really cathartic for me to watch. I have a Yorky. We trained him not too bark. We had Rottweilers before. Any dog can be trained with the right training. It's usually the owner that needs training.

They get this "well if I'm not getting paid" Also I do give them treats if they alert me to a stranger on the porch or something because that's exactly when I do want them to bark 😅.

If reaching over the table is hard on you, for little dogs, could you put a spacer to narrow the table, a cardboard box for example? If it's up against the wall, there would be less space for the dog to retreat.
oh wow, she was such a good girl the whole time! i think a dog like this might even cure my dad's dislike of little dogs, who he calls yippy dogs bc he hates how high pitched and noisy they are, she was so quiet the whole time even when she was uncomfortable
Sometimes it seems like small dogs with long hair are ashamed of all that hair, that it gets dirty and matted. They don't understand all that hair. It is always a blessing when humans help them out!
I'm so grateful my two cairn terriers and their easy to maintain coats. I hand strip them, and they're so good for grooming. They allow virtually anything.

First dog I've seen that shrinks that much when it gets wet. Most of her volume seems to be fluff.

Im getting my own little Biewer in November!! Im so excited for my little Aurora to come home. Dutches was such a sweet girl for her groom.

If his nails are black, it can be harder to clip because you can't see the nail quick

oh wow, she was such a good girl the whole time! i think a dog like this might even cure my dad's dislike of little dogs, who he calls yippy dogs bc he hates how high pitched and noisy they are, she was so quiet the whole time even when she was uncomfortable
