I had tons of Little People when I was a kid. I had the airport, the castle, the main street, Sesame Street, the Sesame Street playground, and a few random odds and ends. I never had the farm or the family house, but I wanted them all. I have a small collection of them that I've gotten as an adult, but I haven't gone off the deep end with them the way I did when I was little. Once I made the switch to Barbie in the mid 70s, the Little People were left in the dust.
I had a very similar experience. I secretly played with my sister's Barbies. But, I loved my little people sets! Mine have gone away as well. If I had the room that would be the next thing I would collect. And I would get the castle!

Omg! Our across the street neighbor, who ran a daycare had OODLES of these Little People items! I loved playing with the ranch style house and the castle!
RF De Stefano Yes! A veritable treasure trove of Little People, Star Wars etc.... Matter of fact, alot of my childhood toys and dolls ended up there....
I remember when toys were made much better and sturdier than they are today. I remember those Fisher Price sets. I had the cottage. Another thing I remember from my childhood was the metal doll house that had plastic furniture.
I love the Fisher-Price people I always pick them up at the flea market in the Goodwills I went to a Goodwill Outlet and somebody turned in five sets I got all the animals all the people and I got the Fisher-Price Castle it was truly amazing with the dragon
