      @kitterbug Месяц назад +1

      Nope, but also yes. No assuming you meant any triforce game after GP2, because there are none. The future Arcade GP games are on different hardware. Yes if you meant the Wii and Wii U being directly built off their predecessors, and natively compatible. Fun loosely related factoid, the GameCube's CPU "Gekko" is based on the "PowerPC 750CXe", which was used on some Mac computers. You can indeed run older PowerPC MacOS versions on the PowerPC Nintendo consoles!

    The main reason these games can't presently run on the GameCube is because Nintendont has patches for the Triforce games by Crediar and Fix94 to get them running within Nintendon't compatibility layer (Early attempts were focused on modifying the Wii's built in MIOS and BC IOS libraries used for backwards compatibility, but that was shelved due to hardware restrictions in BC mode via DIOS-MIOS and was decided to build a new one from scratch which resulted in Devolution and Nintendont) In order to get them working on GameCube they need to be ported to SwissGC which no one has done so far. From a hardware perspective the Triforce is identical to the Gamecube bar the 2 AM-Boards and the IPL (Initial Program Loader)
    Dolphin has had on-off emulation of the Triforce hardware, again by Crediar. The issue there is the Triforce is split into distinct variations: Namco and Sega and each of them have different AM-Boards. Namco boards used in Mario Kart Arcade GP 1/2 use a 512MB NAND (The same internal data size as the Wii) in cartridge form, where as Sega games use repurposed NAOMI GD-ROM drives with up to 1.1GB data capacity, the same media the Dreamcast also used. And with little documentation on both variants and their custom security routines. It's made supporting them difficult.

      I think it has more to do with Nintendo only releasing one Mario Kart game per console and positioning it to be an "evergreen" title. They don't want to compete with themselves. As noted, AX is completely included on the GX disc (though not accessible in true arcade form), so they likely considered that good enough there. I do think the MArio Karts would be great NSO releases for Switch, but you know nintendo isn't going to go to any trouble over them. 😆

    9:22 Virtua Striker 4 truncating / typo-ing the message “Card not available temporarily” to “Card not available temporally” implies that the card reader detects a card, but it is currently lost in the time space continuum. Cool of Bandai Namco to account for that quantum displacement.

    another reason i think that more games should get arcade versions (and there should be more arcade games in general) is that they can provide an experience completely unparalleled to a regular console or even a pc. one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite games is a rhythm game called beatmania iidx. it’s a series of dj-themed arcade rhythm games that use 7 buttons and a turntable (or 14 buttons and two turntables, if you decide to play like that.) the actual beatmania iidx arcade machine fully leans into that theme of djing, having a platform that shakes to the bass, tons of lights all synced up to the game, a 4.2 speaker sound system, and even analog eq sliders (physical on older cabs, on a separate touchscreen on newer cabs). playing iidx at home, even emulating it with a home controller, will never be the same experience as playing on an actual cabinet. the wave of lights and sounds putting you into a trance of music that you, yourself, are playing back, is unmatched by any other rhythm game ive played.
    …and yet, in the us, you can only find it at round1 arcades due to a special deal konami has with them. and there are way less of those than other arcade chains, my nearest iidx cab is hours away, if i want to play iidx on an official cabinet i have to set aside my entire day to make the drive there. and good luck finding one if you’re in europe - there are only 14 in the continent, and NONE OF THEM are on konami’s official online servers. the only alternative they’ve provided for this is a home version that requires a $15 a month subscription and even STILL has $50 dlc packs. things like this are why i want the arcade to make a comeback.

    Yes, but how do you emulate the link up play? We’ve already got the Naomi to emulate the link up with flycast, why not triforce with Mario kart acgp?

    Dolphin can also play them and up-scale them. Just too bad that GP DX (the last of the series?) doesn't run on TriForce and is PC-based.

    Has anyone tried this with the widescreen option chosen? Does it look ok or too stretched?

    Counter hot take: More modern arcade games should be ported to consoles. That way they're better preserved.

    Imagine if these were just, you know, ported to Switch… just mash the games together and release it as Mario Kart Arcade GP Complete. Hey Nintendo and Namco Bandai get on this

    Modern arcade games are very much still a thing, though they're mostly just stuck in Japan and East/Southeast Asia...

    Very interesting video, but I have a couple of questions... If you use a Wii U what sort of controllers can you use with these games? Because even though the Gamecube Wii U USB adapter exists, I haven't seen a lot of things taking advantage of that, and then there's a lot of accessory controllers for the Wii remotes, but not sure if you can use the Wii remotes for these games. Also how does the multiplayer work for these games? Because if memory serves me well, each player would need to have their own machine when they existed in the arcades, so does that mean that playing these games on consoles will limit you to the single player experience only, or is there some kind of way to get these games connected to another console for multiplayer? I have more questions but these are the ones that I'm most intrigued about...

    I don't know why the hell Nintendo haven't officially released this yet on Switch or any of their previous consoles. This game is fantastic at the arcade but I'm gonna have to get this for the Wii or Wii U.
