While this piece of software doesn’t work for Donkey Kong Country Returns, it is entirely possible to patch your ROM with a Gecko code to remap shake to a shoulder button on a Wii Classic Controller! It’s the way I played the game and it was fantastic. It’s no GameCube controller, but the Classic Controller Pro is still a very good controller in my opinion so I didn’t mind the difference.

What I'm really hopeful to see is really good VR Wii emulation in the future. Not to long ago a PSP emulator fork released that allowed you to play PSP games like a native VR title, it's incredibly cool and a very amazing way to experience certain psp titles.
While VR PSP is really cool, the Wii would be a bigger step up since Wii games would translate perfectly into VR. Motion Controls can be emulated and translated so well into REAL Motion Controls, now you can personally box Matt in the face in Wii Sports!
VR Wii Emulator development has been very rocky, and surprisingly it hasn't been necessary because it was challenging to develop. The original developer from back in the 2010s was developing in a way that others in the emulation community was against, so they eventually ceased development.
Fast forward many depressing years with lack of progress and after finishing the PSP VR Emulator I previously discussed the developer decided to take a shot at Wii VR emulation. Things were going mostly smoothly, however unfortunately now that Nintendo went after Yizu (switch) and Cirta (3DS) emulation developers they got paranoid and wanted to stay on the down low for the time being, which for them meant ceasing development for the time being. Another developer that was assisting with development has decided to carry on the development, however are developing it behind the scenes for the time being without updates to the public, so we don't know how well development is progressing.
Originally it was being developed for Oculus Quest, however the new developer that has taken over has decided to switch to developing for PC for the time being since that is were their knowledge is. After completion of the PC version, the PSP VR emulator says he'll be happy to return from his break to add Oculus Quest Support. I'm hopeful things are progressing smoothly, it's unfortunate that we aren't getting updates but I understand wanting to stay on the down low now and avoid Nintendo's eyes.

There is only one Wii game for which I wish there was a way to at least allow you to toggle off tilt motion controls. That’s Alien Syndrome. A pretty decent game which I almost loved but it was ruined by forcing an “all times” motion control that would spin the camera. It meant that it was often very hard to just sit and play it without accidentally spinning the camera while using the controls, normally. They should have put a toggle button, but they decided not to.
This feature would almost be heavenly for that game, but alas there are certain times you want to spin the camera, so this does still pose a problem. Though, the auto camera, in it, isn’t that bad either.

Donkey Kong country returns on wii you can replace shaking the wii remote with the B button using the ocarina cheat system, i use usbloader gx which has ocarina cheat system support, you can either load the original disc and download the cheat codes, or load from a wbfs usb or sd card

If GCtoWiimote could be implemented to USB Loader GX with tilt controls, then playing Sonic and The Secret Rings with the GameCube controller with all of the disabled blurry filters and with mClassic upscaling would be the perfect fix for that game, even tho the controls are pretty good on a Wiimote IMO

For Metroid why not put the aiming button waggle on the Z button or a trigger so you aren't taking your hands off the joystick when going into aiming

Such a shame DKC returns wasnt cooperating, its the first thing i thought of, im curious though, could this program work with the controllers from the nes/snes mini consoles? They use the nunchuck connector and they work for emulators on wii and the sideways wii mote is basically a nes controller, man imagine play DKC returns with a snes controller, perfection

    Hi John.
From one NGC controller 💜 lover to another, did you know you can remap buttons on a NGC controller on the Switch using the build in re-map function?
Using the 8BitDo Wii Classic and NCG Bluetooth adapter, it tricks the Switch into thinking it is an official Switch Pro Controller you have connected and therefore lets you re-map all the buttons! And yes I played the heck out of Bayonetta, Tropical Freeze, Oddysey and Crash N-sane trilogy. 💜💜💜

Oh when it comes to nunchuck shakes, they're actually two different inputs - shake is one and directional acceleration is another.
Also an unpopular opinion probably but Wii and DS games adapted to more traditional controls with a bit of gyro or motion movements would make for some of the best games in history.
Metroid Other M would easily be an 8/10

    • @ultraspinalki11

Personally, I feel Other M's gameplay has more issues than the forced Wii controls. But that simple change is still an improvement regardless.
