Got mine looking nearly as good as yours with a dose of soda blasting. I then used a wire wheel attached to my drill to polish. I used the wire wheel, wire brushes, and wd-40. I'm sending them for powder coating next week. Thanks for your inspirational videos.
Just ordered my powder coating kit the other day and I should have it all by the weekend. Your videos are really helping me understand the process and making me anxious about all of the possibilities. Keep up the good work.
p.s. I started powder coating because of the video you made back in the day when you did your hubs/spokes and i've been watching ever since. it's cool to see a #tbt with the powder coating. stoked to see all that you've accomplished since then - keep it up, man.
I think you should add some basic shielding (stainless net or something) on top of those heating elements in your amazing oven to make the temperature more even on a surface of the whole part. Now the bottom (and maybe the top too, nut sure about the insides) of the baked part is getting much more heat before the whole unit warms up to the same temp.
looks awesome. in my opinion cam, anodizing is easier to care for. less likely to scratch, no chipping to worry about etc. don't think you would need to worry about masking either. they do look sick though. good job
Powder coat more parts! this thing is going to be sick!! Maybe powder the Triple clamps, and the rear shock linkage?? Having the rear shock linkage matching the spring might really set it off nice. Just a thought. I know the timing is bad for rear shock linkage because you rebuilt it in a recent video with new bearings, grease etc.
Nicely done, Cameron. Very impressed with your patience and sense of detail with the masking process for example. I’m sure you’ll soon be having fun caking these hubs in mud!
Hola excelente todo lo que haces me ayudan mucho ver tus videos tomo todo en práctica a un Que me da difícil saber los productos q usas. Saludos desde Colombia.
I think the frame would look nice without powder coat, just like the 125 frame, super clean. Unless you pull off something dope, which you usually end up doing.
That first coat looked awesome. I was amazed that paint could look like chrome. Have you thought about doing powder coating in conjunction with your parts business?
Kevin Trahant ? I got a 1991 cr500r that the frame, hubs, triple clamps, and few other parts got powder coated with a silver flake base coat and transluscent/lollipop red powdered over it so it sparkles in the sun. hubs laced to excel a60 rims. I never got around to rebuilding the bike up thow it is sitting in boxes wrapped up all the parts. ims pro pegs, core moto red and black with red banjo bolt brake lines front and back, motostuff front over sized rotor with galfer rear rotor. the engine has been powdercoated black like the factory year and it has been built ported and polished with the squish band on head also done by Eric gorr.
Good evening Cameron. Would this kind of painting be better than the anion? Here in Brazil does not have this type of painting, it was very good, can you pass me how does this kind of painting work? What is the paint used and where can I find it?
Powdercoating and anodizing have two different applications. One is not better than the other. Eastwood.com has powder coating supplies, not sure if they ship to Brazil however.
What if i dont have sand blast or any kind pf machine can i just use sand paper and my country was not that popular at powder coating and cerakote can i just use like paint that use compressor

Looks just like the lollipop candy red that I got my cr500r frame hubs and parts done in
That's amazing. I've enjoyed all of your informative videos, but this one takes the cake. Great job.

Great work! Thank you for your videos!
You should powder coat the tripleclamps with the same red
What use chrome powder? Nice look
Steps on how to powder coat in chrome like how long before the red is applied after coming out the oven
Amazing. It's the only word for your job!
Was there a how to do to speak on power coating don’t by him, I’d love to see one just because
Did you grind ribs down on hubs for a smooth look
Them hubs look sweet man. Great work, ima have to send you mines so they can look as good as yours lol
Would an infared thermometer help to know when to spray the powder?
So do the spoke holes not matter with getting covered?
I like the chrome could you just use that and not the red if you wanted to?
Yep you can use chrome only.
Looks badass. How does that powder coating hold up over time? Way better than paint I'm sure. Let us kno when you reup on stickers. Thanks.
Thanks! Powdercoating will last for years on most applications. Should have stickers in stock this week again.
You should powder coat the swing arm black, rims black and maybe the triple tree oooooo and the bottom of the forks senses they are apart
just to let you know you can coat it right out the oven at 200c. this is how we do it at work as its faster and you can see it flow out as you do it.
