Ok! I tried it and my spokes are a little too long- (3-4mm). 19" excel rim, aftermarket hub. Tusk spokes and nipples. Already bottomed out spokes with tips poking out before I fully tightened them. The spokes are the same length as the originals. It must be the hub is not spec'd correctly. Any fixes for that???
Thanks for the VIds Cameron!.. I have a salvaged 2001 Honda Shadow; two new tires (front one myself) , rejetted the carb, did the timing, replaced all the bad rubber and broken parts, new fork springs, Put a batwing on it... got some viking saddle bags. polished her up...Throw a hammock in the the saddle bags and ready to go. next up is an intake, exhaust and new wheels and whitewalls.! (edit: new radiator installed.)
For future advice, little blocks of wood under the rim just to prop it up some off the table will help with the having to push the spoke toward the hub and pulling on it. Having the wood under the left/right side of rim will allow things to loosen up a bit
Where was this video 8 years ago when I was re-lacing my 2003 KX250 rear wheel after I blew a hub!? You explain it so well. Back then I could only find an article on it. No vids. Well done sir!
I like the clean simple looking video. Makes it really nice to watch visually and nothing crazy going on that detaches the viewer from what you are trying to show them. Nice Job!
I just found one of your videos recently and subscribed immediately. You are very precise in your work and explanations without wasting time giving useless info. You're doing a GREAT JOB! I do have one question . . . . . is it possible to number your videos so they can be watched in order without searching for the one you "think" is next? Thanks for Your Time
The turned out great! If anyone with a husky needs wheels I have Dubya set, D.I.D STX with Kite hubs $900. They came off of an 18 tc250 but they’ll fit other models.
You should pick up a cheap dial indicator at harbor freight and set it up instead of the pointer rod. You can get your wheels dialed in really close and it's easier to see exactly where they're off and how much.
Should you check offset before trueing to be sure you set the indicator bar? in theory, you could be offset to one side but the rim is straight. How do you check it for center?
Cameron can you please send me link to you scotch brite wheels and the spoke wrench. I just bought a 2016 ktm sx125 and now I took it down to the frame . I'm redoing the wheels and powder coating the black frame to orange. Like those hubs .
Have you ever had any issues with the spokes not fitting through the hubs after powder coating? My spokes have to be threaded through the holes in the hub and they’re not even powdered yet.
Aren't you worried about the powder coat underneath the spoke heads? I would think overtime the powder coating would break down in your spokes would be loosened.
Hey Cameron, want to powdercoat my hubs, just wondering if I get a torque spoke wrench instead of just a spoke wrench, would the wheel be good if they were all torqued to the same spec?
I'll pass on the drinking game! I like to sip my whiskey. Preferably after all the bike maintenance is done. How does the weight of the TUSK compare to the stock stuff? I think that is the biggest difference between say a dubya or excel set up. It costs more to make it tough a light, but reduced un-sprung weight is a good thing. I doubt that a casual rider/enduro hack racer would notice a whole lot. Budget wise I just can couldn't make a 1500 dollar set of wheels work out. About to buy a new to us bike for my wife that has a crack in the front rim. Will likely do like you and toss some TUSK or Moose hoops on there. Actually a local shop has a great price on some black ones hanging in the showroom.
Thanks but i have a question.... I have a Yamaha yz 125 2001 is the same for the rear wheel? I dont remeber what is the right configuration (small and long spokes)
It's just like any bolt, usually they take around 15 ft lbs. If it's a new plug keep in mind the crush washer will collapse and it'll feel like the threads are stripping but keep going until it snugs up.
Cameron, great video! Im about to build my first set, and this video gives me hope. Is there somewhere I can find my factory recommend rim to hub measurements?
Let's play a drinking game. Take a drink every time I say "Rocky Mountain" or "nipple". How many drinks did you take?
A shit load 😂
Cameron Niemela I’m too drunk to tell😂
19 drinks! But I’m sure I missed some, I’ll have to make those up if I did 😉
Congratz, first video on YT I've seen get over 6 hours with 0 dislikes!
Larger items (tires, fenders, skid plates...) are excluded from international shipping.
SO stoked on how the bike is going to turn out. I would be scared to ride it knowing how clean it will be.
I'll be building all my own wheels from now on. Thank you for this!
Great Video. I've watched a dozen wheel lace/true videos in preparation for doing my first. Yours is one of the clearest and easy to follow. Thx, T

Satisfying video,I've done about a million bicycle wheels over the past 18years and would like to do motorcycle now,its in a very satisfying job

Thanks, Cam! Super easy tips and instructions to build wheels.
Man!!! They look really really awesome, best rims I've ever seen

You explain it so well. Back then I could only find an article on it. No vids.
Well done sir!
Nice job lacing and truing. Those wheels are too nice to get dirty. Hang them on the wall like art. RMATV is a solid company and I use them often.
I watched this when it first came out and now that I have my own cr125 that’s apart now I’m going to lace mine up
Can’t wait to see finish product!
Would love to see a parts list so we know how much this build is costing you
Awesome video man I was just about to powder coat my rims and hubs and thankfully you made this video , learned so much !
I like the clean simple looking video. Makes it really nice to watch visually and nothing crazy going on that detaches the viewer from what you are trying to show them. Nice Job!
The wheels look really awesome ! Great job !
I had this in mind the other day but had no clue on how to start thank you for the video.
GREAT video bro
I know one day I will adventure myself into this
LOVE Those wheels man killer job! Black and red go well together!

Thanks Scott! Welcome to the channel. I'll keep that in mind.
You should've painted the spokes black. But they still look amazing! Excellent job Cameron!
Why is this video so satisfying
dirt bike porn
Christopher Villarreal 😂😂😂
ABV Bmx the beautiful nipples
can't wait to see the finished CR man! you should powder coat the triple clamps in the same red
Thank you for making this video. This is a really good channel. Fantastic work.
Great job Cameron well worth all your efforts, it does pay to have the right tools and environment for the job.. great videos bud !!
I love that place!!! Never lets me down and always has everything I need and more
Great idea for a video will be some tips of how to wash motocross gear specially the boots , since you are so keen in clean stuff
Still the best spoke lacing video published!
Now that the awesome wheels are completed, I want to see what and how you mount the tire and tubes without damaging the bands.....!?!

You make really good videos mate. Very informative. Well presented. Top marks!!
You are my hero and I love the in-depth how to’s your so professional. Great job!!
This video is absolutely outstanding.
I love anti seize!!!
Any one with a wheeled machine should use it, especially on there swing arm bolt lol
This was an awesome video. Very educational for beginners.
Great tutorial - very helpful especially with the truing
You deserve way more subscribers 👍🏻
Do you have to go back and re torque them after a couple rides like bicycle wheels? How about some locktite? Seems like a good idea
The turned out great! If anyone with a husky needs wheels I have Dubya set, D.I.D STX with Kite hubs $900. They came off of an 18 tc250 but they’ll fit other models.
What an absolute guru , looks like you love what you do 👌
Great stuff Cameron! Thanks for the video. Cheers, Doug
Amazing looking wheels!🔥 Really nice video🤟
You have some nice quality videos man t ! just found out this channel and subbed. By the way, do You have video tearing down yz85 engine ?
Welcome to the channel! I do have a video on a KX85 engine, which is very similar. ruclips.net/video/I7NXlZYvMik/видео.html
Thank you for showing your mistake and how to fix it. I always forget a step then spend twice as long correcting said mistake.
Just picked up an 03 that thing is so monster is so scary lol!
I watched a video a few years ago where the guy used a sharpie. Lighter fluid takes it off
Loving the wheels cam! Anodised red is sweet 👌🏼
cr500 build next :) then you will have a cr125, cr250,cr500
DARCYFILMS 15 team Honda🤙
DARCYFILMS 15 then a cr60, 80, 85
Dude awesome idea
That takes patients! nice video!
Nice job! Wish I was as mechanically inclined as you. You should open your own shop on top off Revive.
Great video again, and a fan of RM as well :-)

Phillip Bell I worked in bike shops for 15yrs. It ain't gunna happen...
What is the rim to hub distance for the rear wheel? Trying to work on my wheels from my cr250. Can’t find it in the manual.
Did you ever find out the measurement? I can't figure it out.
I like the wheel set looks great 🤤!!!!
So dope bro. Glad your back
Should you check offset before trueing to be sure you set the indicator bar? in theory, you could be offset to one side but the rim is straight. How do you check it for center?
Sick looking rims and hubs man 😜😜
Have you lace bulldog spokes before ?????
Wow those look amazing
Your the man! Im seriously following your rebuild step by step on my 2003 cr125. COULDENT be more helpfull
also got one! this build got me like ok time to go broke again! lol
Haha same here with my 250
can a person paint or coat a stock will that would be decently durable?
Well done, Cameron.
Chapmoto is my go too
Does it matter if your put your rims number facing the other way? Will it affects the bike?
Getting that r.m.a.t.v plug in !! Going commercial bro jk good to see the benefits coming in ! Cheers!
Thanks for making this awesome video.
Loving the videos lately
Cameron can you please send me link to you scotch brite wheels and the spoke wrench. I just bought a 2016 ktm sx125 and now I took it down to the frame . I'm redoing the wheels and powder coating the black frame to orange. Like those hubs .
Nice work thanks for the educational vid
Have you ever had any issues with the spokes not fitting through the hubs after powder coating? My spokes have to be threaded through the holes in the hub and they’re not even powdered yet.
Dammmm dude your wheels are killing it🤘
Very nice job 👍🏻
Aren't you worried about the powder coat underneath the spoke heads? I would think overtime the powder coating would break down in your spokes would be loosened.
Hey nice video as always. Where did you get the hub offset measurement from?
The service manual provided that spec.
I was searching for that exact question and answer. Thanks guys.
What's your opinion about having 2.15 diameter rims on a 125 compared to the stock 1.85?
Hey Cameron, want to powdercoat my hubs, just wondering if I get a torque spoke wrench instead of just a spoke wrench, would the wheel be good if they were all torqued to the same spec?

Best video! Thx a lot ;) Continue the good work
Is this the same process on the warp 9 supermoto wheels ?
I want to un lace's them and powder coat everything
Rocket Mountain is awesome. Great sponsor.
Gonna look so sickk bro
Awesome explanation
Thanks but i have a question.... I have a Yamaha yz 125 2001 is the same for the rear wheel? I dont remeber what is the right configuration (small and long spokes)
how do you know if have a cross three pattern? Like on a CRF150F?
Awesome rims!
Is there a reason the front and rear wheels are laced differently?
I use only motosport or rmatvmc, depends who has better prices
You've put a lot of work, I am glad someone is actually supporting you with parts. Are you going to keep this CR for your self or gonna sell it?
I'll definitely be hanging onto this bike. Maybe even hanging it on the wall lol
Much patience you have
Hey cam whats a proper way to install a spark plug? Do i just turn until it sits and then use a 🔧. Then turn from 12 o'clock to 2 position?
It's just like any bolt, usually they take around 15 ft lbs. If it's a new plug keep in mind the crush washer will collapse and it'll feel like the threads are stripping but keep going until it snugs up.
The best kind of anodizing is the kind where you can wipe of the wear and tear 😂
So it's tru first then torque?
1991 kx 125 In one siz 21 19 rim For two Anything else drit bike in siz 21 19 spock Does it fit?
How long did balancing the wheel/ the whole proces take?
Those turned out "Pryme"!!
Man I wish I had the patience to do that.
Cameron, great video! Im about to build my first set, and this video gives me hope. Is there somewhere I can find my factory recommend rim to hub measurements?
Looking awesome 😎 🤘
