Being alone can be very addictive. Once you’ve tasted peace, tranquility and self satisfaction and personal growth, you cannot go back. Don’t get me wrong company is nice with the right people. But I enjoy having my own space and my own presence 🥰 I’m never really alone cause God is with me, Jesus lives in me❤️ and friends and family are always a call away.

    • @Andrew-wy9qy

I'm certain there are others who share that sentiment.
      As I am now, I don't. Not that I don't want to.
When I sit alone doing nothing (not even listening to music), I am anything but content. I would say this is because I stimulate myself with screens much too often.

My dad past away when I was a kid very unexpectedly, (he had a stroke) I didn't get to say goodbye and I developed a deep depression for about 2 years. I didn't get help right away and that was my mistake. I couldn't even get out of bed. I was completely numb. But, depression is always a battle. I finally got a counselor after 1 year and I worked through it with my therapist for years. Being an only child affected my depression too.
Eventually, your happiness will grow again.💖
Sending love to all those who grieve during this time.

Whenever I'm busy enough making plans and working, I tend to forget that I'm single and other people exist, then I feel like I achieve this contentment. From the moment I relax, open gay apps, and start seeing other people, other bodies, many possibilities (an illusion, I know), I drown in frustration and start needing someone, specially because I have no patience to hookups and it's really hard to connect with people. Then I spend some time in a hole, thinking that I'm young but I don't enjoy life, I barely have sex, I rarely experienced any healthy relationships in the past and bet I won't madly fall in love with anyone. My point is, sometimes I think this contentment is a choice since considering my examples, in my free time I should waste my energy on something else rather than gay apps, which is the thing that puts me in this void. But also we all have this need to be loved and if I only concentrate my effords into working for myself and pleasing myself, I hardly think someone will naturally appear into my life.

Loneliness and boredom can be tricky to tackle. Loneliness is the gap between the company you want and the company you have, and it's possible to not have reasonable access to the company you want. For example, I suffer from loneliness based depression because I'm in my 30s and have never come close to being in a relationship, for many reasons. Then there is boredom, which is essentially the perceived absence of stimuli, which can exist in different degrees. There's the bad kind of boredom, which is when you want to do something positively stimulating, but you are either doing nothing or you are doing something you don't find stimulating. Then there's the content kind of boredom where there's nothing to do, but you're fine with it even though you'd probably prefer to do something fun. Also, I have that exact $100 bill towel and it's gotten zero use in the 5+ years I've had it because I never go to the beach, haha.

I agree so much with what you said about adult friendships feeling like being one another's sounding boards. Back in the day friendship seemed more focused on fun, sharing common interests, going on adventures, and just enjoying each other's company. Adult life is full of responsibilities and stress so I guess somewhere down the line you see your friends and it's like "omg this is the only break I get from my busy life so let me vent." My bad for writing an essay, but this just really resonated with me lol.
