Thanks for the demo Nick. I broke my first Caritool shortly after I put it on my saddle and have not bought another one since. I've used some others but finally invested in some DMM Vault wiregates and love 'em. They are very "user friendly", fit great on my TreeMotion and they absolutely do not break. Thanks again for the video. Be safe! Randy
Caritool is great for catching stray branches...haha. I use king biners and file off the wire hook. Works great...not for life support when file...obviously
If I remember correctly, in the 90's 2 accidents happened because the rigging line was caught by a carabine that was meant for holding tools. After that, someone smart invented the plastic ones. So that it would break and not kill. I feel sorry that we lost this knowledge and sell metal ones again.
@@briankennedy1313 The most important safety features is common sense. And knowing the risk's. Not outlaw a lot of stuff. I just don't think most climbers are aware of the risk's using metal ones.
I own the rock exotica transporter and I think it's the Cadillac for holding my saw. What I will say is it does break! It has a week point in the aluminum that if shock loaded or pulled hard enough it will bend open. So I dont see what your talking about. I can't speak for the dmm ones though
Really they are only going to be used for saw hooks, so most will take the gate off for quick on and off , I don’t get the newer gen dmm and rock stuff for this purpose as it will slow you down and is awkward ... easy enough to do on a caritool and it’s safe.. seen at least two metal gates get snagged whilst rigging and drag climbers off there work points, which could of been fatal. .

Great video from an educated person from a truly customer oriented company, Thanks Nick!
Thanks again Nick for your endless amount of knowledge and insight about these products and their uses.
My pleasure!
Buckingham also makes a simple and effective saw hook. Or $10 at home depot will get you enough aluminum to make several custom options.

Go for it!
Any chance you'll carry the Petzl Caritool Evo for harnesses that don't have tool slots?
We're going to look into that for sure! I hadn't seen that, but it looks sweet. - Carson
Nice videos. Get some lights, it was hard to see at some points.

@@josvdhoogen thanks, because I did not consider that danger ....
NOT A TUNNEL. ITS A MOLLE WEBBING. GREAT VIDEO
That’s untrue. Not all webbing is MOLLE. MOLLE has milspec specifications regarding webbing but by definition it’s 1”.
