Hi from South Australia Tracy! 😃 Well you've done it again!! A very easy Tote Bag, with lining too! Great job!! SEW fabulous!! Thank you for all your hard work, taking 10 hours to get it all finished and uploaded to RUclips. Great job!! I will certainly be sharing your channel with the Craft Group ladies who are still going to the Group that I started at my Church. I used to teach Beginner's Quilting there, but my health unfortunately made me have to stop running it, and teaching. I loved teaching other people how to start quilting. Seeing their joy when they finished a project was so great. Thank you again for being a fun, great teacher!! I love watching your tutorials. Love from the land of Oz. Sue xx

What a great tutorial. I especially liked the squaring up part, I've never been able to get my material square. I can't sew but your clear instructions have given me the encouragement to try this. Thank you from England 😊

Hi I've only just discovered your beautiful white QAYG quilt along videos. I've loved every second of it and I want to make my own. You make me confident I can quilt each block on my own. You have shown us how to sash them together with the lovely floral contrast and it looks fabulous. My question is, have you a video of it completed? Is so, where can I find it please. I can't not mention your stunning rose quilt too. Love, love, love it.

I love your tote bag. I guessed 10 hours!!! Better luck than management? Yep but I know it's not just a job you slap together. Thanks for all your hard work. Oh, by the way, I made your puff quilt...well, a mini one, to tie onto my daughters large stool for her beloved dog. She sits on it in front of the window looking out while my daughter works from home. Her dog loves it.
Great video. Love your instructions. I didn’t guess how long to put up the video as I have absolutely no idea what all is involved in making these videos, but I sure enjoy watching yours! Keep up the great tutorials!

Thanks for another great video! This would make a great gift bag. I’ve made your other “magic” projects. I think my next bag will be a bigger bag and I’ll box the corners. 😊
So cool going to get out a fat quarter square it up( thanks for the how to and that it is necessary) and make one or more for project (knitting) bags or even gift bags!!! Thank You so much ~ 10 hours ahhhh~ I did share! 😀🧵🪡📍
*_Delma...you are so sweet to actually share this video....thank you so much.....it means a lot to me💛 These magic tote bags make perfect knitting bags✅thank you for great idea💓_*
Just made one. It is very similar to the pillowcase burrito method. I had to be careful with my markings with the handles, but it all worked out really great. Many thanks for the great tutorials! I subscribed for more goodness!
Tracy: I have made several bags and was just looking at how to place the straps on correctly before sewing. Do you have a tutorial that shows the correct placement of handles so that they are “not twisted.” Thanks a million! Pat
I could tell right away that the making of must have taken a lot of time because it’s such a great video with really good edits! …so I guessed right on your question how long this making of took you to make. (I’ve watched all the commercials as a thank you Tracy😅) Btw, I love the quilt in the back!
I would have a lining fabric and a bigger then a FQ to get a bigger bag and just make that french seam the whole side and underseam. Using about 1/2 yard of fabric for front and the same for lining(because I like different lining then my top fabric and you can actually turn it inside out depending on mood and if you have double amount of straps you can sew it to a circle then fold it over and under the raw edge you get the same look when doing so and when turned you sew the lining strap and the top strap together so instead of 4 straps you get 2 inforsed ones.) as this looks like a small tote in the end. With the contrasting fabric it would be 1yard(90-95 cm²)+ 1/4to 1/2 of a yard( at least 20-30X100cm).
I put my marks on the outside of my straps because it works better for me. Other than that, I don't think I'd do anything else differently from you. Kinda reminds me of making a shirt with a yoke. 🙂 This can be boxed to make it have a bottom, like your other one that wasn't lined, right?
Started making this, got to the part with handles and realized you gave the wrong measurement. You said the handles are supposed to be 12" each but that makes them so short they don't reach over the top band. Think you meant 24". Otherwise this has been really easy and I love the concept. Maybe you could put the size measurements for everything in the note?
@PCOH051610 24" each otherwise they are just tiny hand straps instead of a regular carry length. Try laying out the strap on the bag piece before you cut it to size to see how long you want the handle to be when it's done. 24" for each one looked good to me but you might like a shorter or longer length
This is such a clever design. I made one, and I love it! You say we need two 12-inch nylon straps, but I think you meant two 24-inch straps. The top strip of fabric is 4 inches when folded over, so when we sew both sides of the strap to it, that is 4 inches on each end, and they are 6 inches apart.
Someone else mentioned that too🤷🏻♀️ Mine is a tiny tote.....so I think that is where the confusion is....mine are shorter than norm I think. Sorry if it messed things up for you.💛
@@TheSewingChannel I used exactly the measurements you gave: 22x8, 22x17.5 and two 12" straps. Using those measurements for the top and bottom pieces, a 12" strap is not long enough. The first 4" and the last 4" of the strap are sewn onto the trim piece. That leaves just 4" in the middle of the strap remaining but you measured 3" left and right from the center, and that equals 6" between. The strap wouldn't even reach flat much less allow extra for a handle to grip.
*_Thank you Geralyn...yes it is a lot of work to make the "instructional tutorials" ....good thing I love to teach LOL😂 Thank you so much for watching!💓_*

Instead of centering the straps on the mark, move the mark in to the center of each side by 1/2" so the inside of each one will be 2 1/2" from the center. (5" apart)
I have done this twice and got the handles off centre both times. I found the marking for the handles the most confusing thing.i understand what you’re aiming for but am so confused by exactly what you did.i think there are edits and it goes from folded fabric to opened out very quickly. Please help me understand.thank you.
Once it's folded 1 time and then you bring folded edge over...leave 1/2" of the raw edge out compared to folded part. Mark middle and draw line leaving that half inch out...then measure it out from there...sounds more confusing than it is ...sorry.
I’m gonna guess 5 1/2-6 1/2 hours for filming and editing. Filming plus lighting is easy. Editing is the reason why I don’t do the Sunday School lessons online anymore. 😆 For a 10 minute video for the kids, I filmed for about an hour and edited for 3. Editors need to be paid more. If you do it yourself, pay yourself and give yourself a bonus.🏆
Sorry it wasn't clear for you Pat....the seam down the side is a french seam. The seam along the bottom is 1 stitch line closing it all up. (the bottom seams before closing does not have raw seams prior to stitching the last bottom seam)✅Hope that helps
This looked complicated until i watched it a couple times! Then it made sense!!🎉
I use blue tape to hold down the straps to make sure I don't tangle them up in sewing. Works or me. Thanks

Hello! Thank you... what are the finished dimensions?
Oh my word...that was a while ago...I think the answer is in the video...sorry I don't know right away🤷🏻♀️
Love this! One quick question: you said the straps should be 12" each, but your straps look much longer than that. Am I missing something?
They are 12” each✅ I made mine smaller than normal. You may want to lengthen yours✅
So the seam at the base is raw edged?
*_When the bag is all done there are no raw edges. When making it...the 2 raw edges are on top of base✅_*
I counted 3 seams. Across band, side seam (turn).down side (French seam) & across bottom.
Leaving raw seam on bottom.
Perhaps Sergebthat bottom seam?
Wait, those straps are longer than 12”?
No...they are 12" long/ 1" wide each✅ . I usually make mine longer...this is a smallerish size tote.
Are you sure the straps are only 12 inches each?
These ones had short handle on them...check to see what's best for your tote before you cut✅
@@TheSewingChannel that makes sense. Thank you
