    I finally got around to trying digital sketching this year, and I like it better than I thought I would. I'm still inking and coloring traditionally though, I don't see that changing. One of the things I like about digital is the speed of corrections and adjustments, but that's also why I think people should learn traditional first- making permanent mistakes, or at least ones that are hard to correct is such an important part of learning and building skill, that I think learning from the start on digital would stunt someone's progress. Scott, it was your video on using Clip Studio for doing perspective that convinced me to try digital :D

      Awesome Tyler! Glad to hear I was influential in getting you to try using Clip Studio Paint. I put it off learning it for along time but I’m so happy to be using it now. I agree with you that the drawing stage can be optimized by working digitally. Printing out and inking dementedly has it’s benefits when selling original art.

    Awesome sketch cover Scott!!
    I feel the itch to do some traditional drawing, I have been working exclusively my iPad for more than a year now and I am kind of worried it’s become a crutch for me. It could just be me 😂 I do see the benefit in both mediums! It’s all about continual growth

      Thanks Cameron, Maybe get a sketchbook and just doodle a bit, nothing too precious, but just to keep your traditional skills sharp.

    I prefer to be a mixture of both but now due to health reasons I am fully digital. I should have bought stock in Mead years ago considering how many Academie Sketch Pads (then Academie Sketch Diaries) I filled in my younger days. My first exposure to creating digital art was on my Koala Pad on my Apple IIe (16 colors!). Then I purchased an Amiga, which I used Comic Setter to create the cover page for my resumes, and ads for local businesses. Now I am using Clip Studio Paint (started out with Manga Studio EX 4) to work on my first real comic book. I still rely on the skills I learned (and from the mistakes I've made) over the years and apply them as best as I can digitally. This series has really helped me focus on becoming a better artist - for that I thank you.

      Thank you. This really takes me back. Though I didn’t use all the same software I do remember it well. I’ve heard a lot of people echo what you said about digital art helping with a verity of health issues. I should have me that as a plus for digital.

    For now I'm doing traditional comic making. But as soon as everything calms down I'm gonna find a way to put my Graphic novel on the computer for tweaking. Starting Chapter 8 by the way😉😍

    ...having been trained in traditional only - I'm able to replicate "digital" created effects traditionally in quick time! My favorite games from back in the day were hand drawn sprites/ icons and l always have a soft spot for traditional movie matte paintings ... SO, :)

    I've drawn traditionally for years up until 2015. I was always disappointed and very unhappy with my art. 😭
    I would always make mistakes and have to do the picture all over again.. I would always be buying new supplies and if the lighting in the room is poor, that makes in so much harder to see..
    I learned to color art on photoshop in 2015 - I'm currently working on Krita, which I love - Ever since I started learning digital art, I'm finally happy with my art. I can undo if I make a mistake.. I can make wonderfully flawless gradients.
    I also have a well-lit program that I can see clearly, no matter what the lighting in the room is like, and that is great for my eyes as it is less straining.. There is an endless amount of colors, which I never run out of like I would be doing in traditional with art supplies. ☺
    I have completely abandoned traditional art and I'll never go back. Digital art is my best friend. ☺😏

      @@ScottSerkland Yeah it is. ☺
      As for losing a file or computer crashing: I make back-ups of my picture files, and I have my Krita settings to where Krita automatically saves my file every 1 minute while I'm working.. That's much more convenient in case I forget to hit save... 👍

    Hey Scott! Would u Recommend me buying the iPad Pro or the Wacom Cintiq?

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  3 года назад +1

      That’s a good question. But a hard one to answer. Because it comes down to personal preference. I have both. I use the Cintiq more because I prefer to work larger and I’m more comfortable working in my studio. The iPad Pro is a great mobile option. Many artist work strictly on the iPad Pro. If I could only have one I would chose my Cintiq, but there are many Artists out there that would opt for the iPad Pro. It depends on how you work. Do you like to work from one place and work larger? Then you might choose the Cintiq. If you prefer a mobile option then the iPad Pro is great.

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  3 года назад

      I’m not sure. It’s doubtful. They tried to run a Kickstarter for a Miscrits card game and their wasn’t enough interest to fund even a small card game. So it’s unlikely that there would be enough interest in the game to invest the amount of time and money it would take to bring it back. There just aren’t enough people who care enough about Miscrits to support it.

      @@ScottSerkland Sad a lot of people i know really love the game and missed it so much and some tried to recreate it in order to bring it back, but that's sad a few people like me really want to bring it back and play it all over again and i think in that time when it come back "if" i would whale on the game so that it will last as long as many people love it. But thats sad to know. But may i ask is there any copy of the game or apk that is for a single player like you play it but no friends needed like the alpha game of it. I wish and hope someday they bring it back or maybe they want to sell the miscrits to a big company and maybe that company can remake it. Btw thanks sir
