Thanks for sharing!
usually stuff I made, but not food. art stuff
I would buy a dozen of each but thanks for sharing the recipe
I usually spend my time making paintings
Hi! I don’t know if you’ve said this already in your videos but where did you learn to cook? Aside from doing it with family, did you take classes? Your recipes seem to use a lot of technical rather than practical so I was curious! I hope you can talk about it in your next video🥹
I tried baking for my family, but I end up being the only one who eats it cus everyone avoids sugar and nobody in my family really eats much bread either. So I’ve tried other ways like making paintings or crocheting things.
So relatable! I made these very delisious chocolate chip cookies like 20 of them, and I ended up eating 15 of them haha
And the same with other things I bake, I‘m literally the only one who eats it, and I babe soo much because love baking:))
That’s why the most crucial step is checking in with their food preferences first, as she mentioned! It’s a waste if you don’t know things like allergies, whether or not they’re vegan or avoid things like sugar or caffeine, or even if they just don’t like certain flavors. You can totally still bake for people who avoid sugar, it just takes a little extra thought.
Tell me about it. I live in a house with 3 autistics, my cousin who has gone threw chemo and radiation her whole life because she was born with leukemia, and my picky dad. So when I cook something I always ask everyone if they like something and if they say no then I just cook it for myself.
I do however cook dinner every night but we eat pretty much the same things all the time because they're all so picky. I'm the only one in the house who eats pretty much anything and they call me weird because of it ahaha
Relatable af...
If you want you can check with them their food preferences and bake sugar free cookies etc but yk it's your work you are not obligated to cater to them, just bake smaller portions for yourself is fine
That loop was satisfying
yeah, it's been a while since ive seen a beautifully executed loop
i was looking for this comment!!
I have a hard time making friends.. So I started baking for my roommates and then I would have a conversation when I baked. Worked every time
That's sweet🤗
That’s a great idea and I’m glad that helps you! I have difficulty as well and baking is the one thing I’m confident in doing which helps.
@@miranda13c my grandma did a lot of baking when I was younger, so I guess I took after her!
That's such an awesome idea!
I did the same thing in college, a few years have passed and today is still the day my friends talk about my lasagna 😊 food brings people together
I knit or crochet stuff! I tend to go for functional items. Sometimes some just like having a basket of useful things like soap, laundry detergent and the like. Always a hit with extended family.
Our teacher gifts usually include Eggnog quick bread mini loaves with rum glaze. I also gift seasoned pretzels. Most teachers are excited to get one or the other (or both!).
My mom always said, "the way to a person's heart, is through their stomach." I'm a born and raised local girl from Kalihi which is a town on Oahu. We have so many hanai (adopted/taken in) families, and we were always broke. As far back as I can remember, my mom and I would bake platters of goodies because that's all we could afford. There were too many Aunties and Uncles and cousins to buy individual gifts for. So, feeding people became our thing, and continues to be, 30 years later. And mama was right- we got a lot of love and gratitude by feeding them :) definitely one of our love languages ❤️
Every time I read this kind of comment, I’m evermore grateful I did not grow up in Hawaii!
-socially anxious introvert
I also bake for my friends and family! This Christmas I baked lots of cookies as well; I can agree that making large quantities or many different types is a lot of work, but very fun! It’s worth it to see their smiles :)
I love doing it too! This was my first year doing it again after about a decade and it was really satisfying! I made over 30 dozen and 7 types.
@@marvelousbeautyspeaks Wow, I only made 3 types! That’s a lot of delicious cookies :O
Same, I always cook it bake for birthdays or holidays. Yesterday I made arepas for my dads birthday. His mom made them on special occasions so it was really fun. Bit hard tho
@@joannabanana2435I make around the same amount lol! This year I'm thinking of doing: red velvet macarons, snowflakes/star pillowy soft gingerbread cookies (inspired by Lebkuchen), dark chocolate dipped peanut butter shortbread cookies, white chocolate cranberry cream cheese shortbread cookies, brown butter chocolate chunk toasted walnut cookies, candied pecans, pistachio linzer cookies with cherry jam filling, black forest cake roll, Christmas crack (toffee and chocolate layered over crackers) and cinammon sugar/chocolate coated homemade marshmallow kisses!
I baked cookies too. My Snickerdoodles are the most requested, followed by coconut macaroons. This year I added cream cheese cookies, and they were a hit. The thing is, you don't have to spend a fortune on gifts for your friends and family. Gifts made by you from your heart are always the best ones.
That’s awesome! The cream cheese one sounds interesting, what kind of cookie is that like?
Ooh, as a foodie myself, food gifts really are the best! Though cooking isn’t always my strong suit (+ I never really have a reason to cook anything more difficult than a grilled cheese sandwich 🥲) so when I don’t know what to get for my friends, I opt for using my art skills instead by making little bootleg enamel pins out of cardboard, hot glue, and acrylic paint, and either a little drawing of them, or a recreation of our first selfie together in my art style :D (Imo, bc artists always get asked the question “can you draw me?” I see drawing your friends as one of the highest forms of respect in the artist community!)
I am my families designated card creator, and I really do love making them, even if it's for people I don't really know. Each one of them is personalised, and although it's time consuming, I quite like getting little trinkets for people if I know at least their base interests
Since I was a child ive saved every card received by family. Past so many years no one sends so i started sending personalized drawing cards and then they would call me and tell a little story about themselves i would cherish usually
Yay! Looks delicious! I’ve been baking presents for many years. Persimmon bread, butterscotch cookies, and bisconchitos. I buy my flour from France or Italy, so no excuses and no complaining allowed. Baking comes with love, remember that always ❤
Omg that multi tier cooling rack is something I never knew I needed until now 🤩
Me, too.
I do Christmas Crack (chocolate bark). It is SO quick and easy, and so delicious.
I love doing baked gifts like cookies, truffles, hot cocoa cubes, breads, and those mason jar cookie kits.
Those white choco macadamia ones look divine... I'd eat them all!!! Looks so good!
I made lasagnas this year and froze them in throw away containers for everyone. I put a little card on each one explaining the temperature and how long to cook them for. My aunt's and uncles loved it as did the friends I gave them to too. Food does make great gifts. People have so much junk already and lately food has gotten really expensive.
All the gift's i gave this year was our home made vine.. And it was such an amazing choice we made
Baking cookies and homemade breads are a great gift. You can even make homemade fudge. Those gifts will be eaten in no time.
In my desi family....the gifts just get re gifted to other people....🤣🤣🤣🤣
True 😆
My fam does that with gifts they don't like/have a use for. We've also been using the same sets of bday, gift, and holiday bags and filler tissues for like 30 years. Lol
@@AlottaBoulchitI don’t think my family has gotten new wrapping paper in over a decade
Make them custom, then you can slyly ask what happened to the handmade gift you spent so long on.
I make cookies for about 10 households every year.. tons of work.. but the appreciation showed after is very worth the effort 🥰
I would love to get one of those 🥹🫶
As a philippino(Filipino) I feel the love in your VERY DELICIOUS COOKIESSSSSS
PHILIPPINO is incorrect. FILIPINO it is..
@@eliolovesgaymovies1117 look man, my english to filipino knowledge ratio is 5:1, I mostly been on english so I forgor 💀some things alr
I usually make different kind tamales ( pork, chicken, beef, 3 cheese and jalapeño and sweet ones with pineapple and raisins). It is a lot of work but even people that make their own tamales enjoy them because I give them different that they don't make themselves.
I am Filipino:) pandesal was my childhood snack I eat every second 😅
That cooling rack looks so cool
In MY opinion, this DEFINITELY has to be the SMOOTHEST LOOP that I'VE EVER seen on RUclips 🤔😉👍🏽... This is the FIRST time that I didn't IMMEDIATELY realize when the video looped back around. I really don't know how y'all pulled it off, but whoever edited the video was on point with it 😉👍🏽... BTW, the cookies looked delicious AF. You've just inspired me to make some cookies as soon as I get outta this hospital like facility, that I've been in for the past 3 and a half years, due to an illness called GBS (Guillain Bure Syndrome) ... I don't remember getting sick, and I just got my mind back ALL THE WAY BACK, VERY RECENTLY. I know it sounds weird, but it's MY TRUTH, apparently and UNFORTUNATELY
Food costs a lot so this isn't too much cheaper than just buying a gift BUT it's way better because it comes from your heart and hard work.
This! The cost of these ingredients is significant and time is worth something too.
It’s costs way more to buy gifts for 30 people instead of baking cookies for them. Oh trust I have done the math because I have a big family. Lol $20 is enough to make dozens chocolate chips cookies while Most people spend over $20 per person for a gift. That’s a minimum of $300 right there. Price it for your area. You definitely won’t spend more baking than buying.
I bake too because of the same reason... Doesn't take up space and they're crowd pleasers. I'm also a crafter so in the past I've painted ornate winter/Christmas scenes and the last few years, I've etched snowflake designs into glass. i even learned to cut my own glass. This way it comes out for a little while and then goes away. For friends with new Borns, I even take a pic of their kids and glue it to an ornament for a baby's Christmas.
Damn those ube cookies look so tasty and they have such a satisfyingly vibrant color. Do you have a full recipe?
Edit: checked the description and found them. Never mind. Thank you for the recipe and inspiration!
Soap and bread are my go-to gifts. They always bring smiles.
I love giving homemade treats.
This year, I made Pick-Me-Ups, mint fudge, Chex party mix, Turtles and homemade strawberries. My mom made fruitcake and gingerbread cookies.
Instead of plastic I would recommend using paper bags. They are much better for the environment and look fancier too! 💕
I think we can all agree we'd rather have this than money ☺
Not my parent lol
No lol
WE ALL cannot….
@@misanthr0pic girl I was trying to be nice shut up
@@misanthr0pic like it's exaggerated, but for a small amount of money then I would rather take cookies
This is what I do at well but the one thing I also add is a mason jar with all the ingredients for the cookies I gave them inside. This way they can make the cookies on a rainy day
They look so good! Birthday gifts are usually the birthday cake itself from me, in my immediate family
That’s amazing but I would argue that baking a cake is more expensive than buying a gift.
@@Nadia-ox1kf That's a solid argument. It depends on the gift and the cake itself. They get their choice of cake. If it is a simple one, it will cost less or the same amount
i did 10 cookie boxes with 9 types of cookies each for my loved ones this holiday season. i had to buy dedicated wide and low tupperwares to store the cookies in the fridge until it was time to assemble the boxes as well as the boxes themselves and pretty paper to line them with, not to mention the price of butter and other expensive ingredients like chocolate and nuts. i baked for 4 days making 2-3 giant batches every day, baking before and after work and on lunch breaks - thankfully i work from home and we had a lull before the holidays and do i was able to take this time; spent an additional couple hours making separators for the boxes out of cardboard and spent an hour assembling the boxes in the late evening of day 4. not everyone i meant to give these to could manage to pick them up/meet up with me in the time frame before the cookies would go completely stale and/or off, so i gave several people two boxes so that they wouldn’t go to waste. it was an immense operation, i’m glad i did it, i loved doing it and glad i challenged myself like that and proved my baking skills to myself in this way, but it most definitely was NOT cheap or time efficient in the slightest. and unless you have a huge gathering everyone will be guaranteed to attend, it’s not a reliable or convenient gift since they’re perishable.
This is a great idea. I’m not artistic enough to paint or sew or knit/crochet people things but I can follow a recipe 😂
You made them look so beautiful in the packaging 😍
I loved food as a gift. but I'm now tube fed and totally NPO! still got some candy and stuff this year, which was a bit awkward lmao
I’ve made a habit to make gift baskets for those I love very year. Chai candles, some sort of chocolate bark (candied orange peel dark chocolate bark is the most popular), one or two cookie flavors, zucchini nut loaf, and one random finger desert that is a new recipe I try. I highly recommend doing this if you have enough time. It’s so calming and it makes my heart happy to hear how much everyone enjoyed the treats in the coming months. Also, it encourages others to begin gift-giving as well!
I made candied almonds, salted caramel pecans and mulled wine spice for "Christmas Market to go" bags for my extended family this Christmas season and that was really well received 🥰 So, yeah food Gifts totally works, unless you give people stuff that they absolutely do not like 😅
I have a recipe for seasoned sweet/salty nuts that usually everyone likes. Due to the cost of nuts, you kind of have to limit how many people you give them to, but they're always a hit.
My aunt taught me to use little round cardboard inserts (they come I different colors) in the bottom of your clear bags..help support your cookies and looks esthetically pleasing 😊🍪
I've baked cookies for gifts before and the family LOVED IT!
YES!!
MY FAVORITE COLOR PURPLE!!💜😆😍✨✨✨✨
I would say this is mOre better gift coz it is more personalize and truly you put effort and love in your gift. Aside from edible..AWESOME!
Gorgeousssssss cookies! It is no longer money saving to bake for gifts with the price of butter and eggs these days. We did dozens of each of 5 varieties and delivered them to loved ones. It was exhausting but fulfilling work ❤
I would actually prefer these vs other consumables that I don't need. And I highly appreciate it when someone made me something vs buying me something ❤
Nice transition. Purple cookies look pretty. 🍪
I paint, stitch, bake, cook etc.
People tend to appreciate that more and my caller definitely appreciates it
For Christmas this yr. I gave homemade Vanilla Extract and vanilla sugar made from the left over beans. It took me two yrs to make it but it was so worth it.
I have neither the cash nor the cooking skills...
Love this. I cherish my memories of baking Christmas cookies with my grandmother and sister. Then taking tins of cookies to her friends. I have been doing for yeats! Your cookies are amazing! Beautiful! TFS!
Wow those cookies look delicious 😋
I really hate surprises with passion, gift included.
Cos people tend to give you something that they think you need,
when as the matter of fact, its really what they want or what they need.
And no matter what happened i cannot throw or give something that was given to me. Even though i hate gift i still value them because people give that to me.
So id rather get pastries and bake goods as a gift. A gift made of love and effort and the thought that u remember me. Food is always good.
I usually jst draw them smth-
Love love love this! I baked cookies, mini cakes this year, as well as making mug toppers 🤗
They still look rich and precious 💕
Food is my love language. I gift people baked goods and most of the time theyre very happy about it. My sister had these pastries that were sold at Lidl and they were her favourite but they discontinued them and she was so sad about that, so i baked those same pastries at home on her birthday and she was so happy ❤
I often paint or draw people something as a gift, either something with their favorite color or their favorite scenery :)
Thank you for the recipes! I make cookies every year for Christmas! 😊 I’ve never been a fan of the whole gift thing, unless you need an excuse to buy someone something, then that happens to work out lol
One Christmas I got everyone an inexpensive bottle of wine and put it in a cute wine gift bag from the Dollar Tree. BAM! XMAS 🍷
I make cheesecake for gifts. Cheesecake bars topped with a chocolate ganache are appreciated.
Baked with love ❤!
I also like what you said about, once they’re eaten, they’re not taking up space in their house!
In my family when cash is short food and alcohol are great alternatives😂😂. During christmas I usually make candied pecans and give them out or make gumbo. EVERYBODY loves sweets and gumbo lmao. Or like for my mother every bday and christmas she gets a case of her fav beer a buncha of her favorite junks and a hug😂😅
Macadamia nut cookies are so good they’re literally my favorite
I’m a crafter and have endless amounts of wool and fabric so typically everyone gets handmade - waistcoats, socks, stockings, teddies, bow ties, shirts, mug rugs, quilts, gonks, if I can make it they get it, ooh cushions and occasionally blankets xx
This is Absolutely Adorable and Perfect !! 🍪 🛍️
I did Royal icing sugar cookies for my sons teachers! It honestly took forever but they loved them!
I always bake things/ make things for gift giving! My family, friends, and I prefer time over money spent. For Xmas I made everyone those hot cocoa bombs and and a mug cake kit with dollar tree mugs I painted.
It was fun and I also agree that after it’s eaten it doesn’t take up morenspace
I love to make (and feverfew) food gifts, and in fact, those are my FAVORITE kinds of gifts! I like to bake mini leaves of my mom's famous Apricot Pecan Bread, and it's always super popular; in fact, folks ask for it every year for Christmas. I also bake dog biscuits and kitty treats for my friends' pets, and for my house & pet sitting clients. They ALL love those!
Wow, not only the baking skills, but the packaging and the tag made it appear a store bought product 💝
I love homemade gifts. And cookies one of my top favorites
I bake cookies every Christmas and gift my friends and some neighbors. ☺️
I love giving recipes as gifts.
One of my favorite Christmas gifts was from a coworker who made me homemade treats! ❤
I used to do this in college and continued the tradition after I graduated. I think it is much more personal than something bought from a store.
also the last thing most people need is more Stuff™️ plus food gifts are thoughtful and caring.
I did this too and chocolate truffles, but I didn't wrap anything. I just put everything out and had people take what they wanted home with them in tupperware. Usually I get holiday tins for the cookies to give out and boxes for chocolates and let everyone fill a box with their choice, but it was too much work this year and I was overwhelmed lol
I love the look of those purple cookies!!
Those look so good. And people dont realize how much time works nd money even baking is too. I love to do this. I did Christmas dinner this year
I make jars of hot chocolate powder. I layer up cocoa, sugar, milk powder, chocolate chips, marshmallows, crushed candy canes so it looks pretty then just pop on a ribbon and a gift tag with the instructions for use. I make up 4-5 of these pretty cheaply and have them ready to grab for any last minute invites around the holiday time.
You could also make pumpkin spiced versions for autumn gifts.
I also bake cookies for friends as gifts! These look delicious though!! I wanna try them now! Great work!
MY FAVE KIND OF COOKIE! thank you for recipe yayaya!
I also do this. I bake cookies and cupcakes to give away to friends and neighbors every December (or January).
Food gifts are amazing
I do this too! This year was pecan baklava and homemade caramels :)
You are the best when it comes to especially coockies its like you controll it it flows into your blood or smth
I love you keep at it
The ube cookies looked so amazing... Thanks for sharing the recipe... Goona bake it for cny
The macnut cookies are literally my favorite
It will be the most precious and tasty gifts because it was handmade all by yourself. 😊
I do this every year for Christmas. Baking is a hobby of mine! I make three different kinds of cookies, as well as peppermint bark, Chex mix, and put them all in cute goodie bags for my family, friends, and coworkers. Not gonna lie, it costs a bit of money having to get the ingredients and also the supplies to assemble the goodie bags and tags. But it's worth it in the end when I get to see everyone enjoy my little creations❤️
Food and baking is always the best and most simple holiday gift. I mean who wouldn’t want some delish cookies?
I love homemade cookies, especially chocolate chip cookies, this would make a great gift for me
I know how to follow ALPHA bracelet patterns, so I can weave basically any pixel art with embroidery ribbon. It's fairly cheap so when I can't think of anything, I design them a little bracelet and weave it :)
Your cookies turned out great!
You may also want to list whether you're using artificial or natural food dye. Some people have allergies and sensitivities to that.
I actually used one of your recipes. For Christmas I wanted to get my friend something very expensive, 500 dollars worth, but I couldn't come up with the money quick enough so I used your Cookie recipe and made him a batch of Chocolate Chip and Pecan Cookies. I used your Chocolate Chip and Walnut recipe but replaced the walnuts with Pecans. And he enjoyed them very much.
We have no expectations to give or receive gifts. Gifts are just a bonus.
This is so nice . My mom makes fudge , cookies, muffins and some kind of ball .
Oatmeal peanutbutter chocolate chips and nuts . They are so good. I love that she does this .
I wanted to make gifts this year, but I ran out of time. I don't bake, but have been wanting to look into making candles. But I am thinking of getting a head start this year and making a variety of things and people can choose what they want.
