What I appreciate about you most is that you tell people how much this costs. So many people make excuses for why they can't discuss pricing. Most people on RUclips are merely looking for a rough estimate of what something costs to plan for their own projects so this, sir, is truly appreciated!
@@kenskarpentry So you r cost is $115,000? Or thats the cost to the home owners? If the $115,000 is your cost how much would the home owners be paying? How much do you make on a job like that? Thanks
You can do costing pretty easy by calculating material and then checking stores. Contractors get a discount to make money but you get a rough estimate that way. This project got expensive because of the concrete slab.
The level of professionalism and good old fashioned experience and skill is what I enjoyed so much about this build . It’s quick, efficient and you guys seemed to get along with each other incredibly well during the project . I was mesmerised. Thank you for recording this journey . 👍🏴
Love how calm you work, I'm a carpenter in Massachusetts and I've worked for some intense contractors. It absolutely hinders the overall atmosphere when everyone is all stressed out. Anyways a huge fan of your channel I hope you're staying warm this winter!
T-111 and red stain, like the first house I ever worked on in 1971, with Russ Christian & George Schromm, 43 Sentinel Hill Rd, Attleboro, MA . I sure miss the work.
That is incredible building something this beautiful for $115K! Great job to all that helped construct this awesome structure and for sharing to allow others to enjoy!!!
I’ve been watching a lot of videos about new/ restored rebuilds and this is the first time I have come across your videos. I would just like to say I really enjoyed the build. You now have a new fan and will be checking out all your videos. Kind regards and thanks for sharing this work with us. Old retired Scottish man living in Germany 👍
Ken loved how you condensed the original videos. I saw the originals and loved them. I can't get over how you still get on that ladder at your age. You are fearless, and it was nice of you to help them with the windows. Also all the positive comments from you on the other contractor's workmanship. I would love to watch you do a foundation and have me help to learn. I probably get in your way. The good news I am not too far away from you. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. You are my favorite channel in construction. Blessings to you and your family...
My name is Bernd, I am a German. I like your video, the landscape, your house and the way you build it. Really, well done. This was a lot of work, but the outcome is great. Thank you for making the video and all the best in your new house from a fan of Germany 👍🌹🇺🇲👋
Beautiful job Ken! Pre-assembled pieces make for quick and accurate work. Also a huge fan of insulated concrete as it's one of those things that has to be done up front.
Great job Ken and crew. As a concrete guy, it's nice to have a good operator on that front loader so you can spend more time in the mud 😂 Thanks for sharing this build! Cheers from Florida 🌴
The design of those windows really frame that view. Really stunning! As others have mentioned before, it would be so great to see how the homeowners finish these projects out. Even if it was in a separate video where you did highlights of that particular build from previous videos and then had the owners send a few photos that you could add at the end as sort of a slideshow. They could actually work well as RUclips shorts. Thanks as always.
Fantastic video and fun to watch too. Beautiful structure and great job. All positive nothing negative. I was worried the end A-frame was going to topple over but all went great God Bless.
What did I see in this video? Fast, efficient and well-coordinated work. Cool video editing and excellent comments by the author. A house that appeared right before our eyes out of nowhere. It's great to watch videos like this.
very much enjoyed the way you work Ken, I've been watching for just a few minutes and I'm finding your tonality and the way you get through your day is very calm and supportive not only for your viewers but for your workers as well..I'm visualizing building a house of my own someday soon, really appreciate your insight on the process.
That is a brilliant video showing a house build from start to finish. I bet the spray foam has made the structure so much more solid, although I have heard it can become a bad problem if there are roof leaks and the rafters rot without anyone knowing about it. I envy the people who live in that house, hope there is fish in the lake, can fish from the porch!
I'm in Guatemala right now. I just finished a concurrent masters degree. I will be going back to the US in about one year. I would like to work for Habitat for Humanity when I go back. I went trough a pre-aprenticeship, carpentry, program. I love your program. My MA's are in emergency management and Criminology. I love your program. Thank you all !!!
I used to do this kind of work ---just trim now --some cabinets --going to frame etc for daughter /spring /summer--very exciting to watch --like your show /demeaner--thanks
I'm a long time Carpenter from California in the foothills, That looks like the old T 1-11 siding we used to hang back in the 80's. We have been using Hardy Plank now for the past 30-35 years or so. Beautiful job you guys I like your channel. Really nice touch with those batten boards I like the look! 👍
And the Doctor said ? The thing is I am finding that this review of the original work is really good and interesting. I do remember the views and in joying. Now I’m hooked on the reviews of the series you’re doing. I hope you can do this each year thanks again for your time and work.
Love your work... Only suggestion I would have is to use rebar chairs to hold the slab rebar up so that it doesn't just wind up at the bottom of the slab.
That was a nice build. Beautiful location and a functional cabin just ready to move in. There's a roofing company that cuts metal roofing material on-site to fit the transition to the porch area without a break from the upper roof to the lower roof.
Hi Ken this is your best build it’s top shelf ,I would love to live there Sweet million dollars views I’m lost for words very nice cheers ❤️❤️👍👍👍😀😎🍺🦘🇦🇺
Great job. Thorough explanation. Could you please explain how the walls came pre assembled . Is there a service that does this or you build the to print offsite
Just discovered you in your lake cabin build video. Loved it! Watched your video describing your history. Very moving. I wish we lived in NE Vermont so you could build us a home on a lake. Looking forward to watching your previous builds.

@@Fhillyslick1 id bet thats what he charged, how much he makes is his secret. Labor + materials, rental of equipment, lot of other costs.
115000 is just for the framing
You can do costing pretty easy by calculating material and then checking stores. Contractors get a discount to make money but you get a rough estimate that way. This project got expensive because of the concrete slab.
You sir, are the Bob Ross of residential construction ❤
Haha thanks
I was literally thinking the exact same thing. Very peaceful and fun to watch.
Yes, for sure. What a nice and polite guy, not like the construction workers I know..
Too bad there are no "happy mistakes" in construction

Reminds me of Bob vila. I love it. Less talk more work.

Would have loved to see the finished home.
What a beautiful place to have a house.

Beautiful. Just Beautiful. Love how you make that board and batten look from T1-11 siding. Those big windows give it that perfect lake cabin look 👌
Thanks
Ken, I marvel at the work it takes to layout and organize each and everyone of your builds. You are a very smart man.
Thanks

A Heater Buddy should be able to heat that whole thing easily. Anyone else agree?
