've been thinking of alternative music notations for years, eg: by adding colors (yeah, and many have played with that before too) and different shapes to the classic all-black, standard shapes we've been officially using for hundreds of years. But even as a 3D enthusiast I've never gone so far as to imagine a score, still all-black, still the same old symbols but with the progressing steps in time visualized in a 3D animation. Your example makes following the timing, which I find the hardest part in a score, so incredibly easy. Amazing!
This is EXACTLY how I visualize music and even words when people are talking! Now I actually have a visual to show and explain to people....with a good song as a bonus
My brain was barely able to keep up with the amazingness of the HDR being used at 60fps, this is one of the crispiest and nicest looking videos in RUclips, yet, it's so simple.
I have never been so disappointed in a video for being so short in my life. This was so satisfying to watch I wish there was a super extended cut. Good work!
The first video on RUclips I see personally with official 2160p60 HDR 4K. Now I can calibrate my HDR monitor and TV settings like a Pro! Can't wait for the tutorial, too.
I tried reimagining the staff notation system to be a better user experience, I had given up after several concept designs and even an attempt to make a music writing game, thank you for sparking my interest in it again, I am going to do it. I am going to make staff more accessible, don't know how far the system i come up with will go, but whatever, at least it will help me.
@@NabPunk you might want to have a look at the documentary "Notation must die" from Tentacrul, that discusses about different music notation systems and popular alternatives and what are their limits
I love it! I normally struggle to "follow" one "strand of notes" in music but this makes it so much easier, I can even differentiate without the image now!
Yussssssssssssssssss. That was so great. It really helps emphasize the evolving nature of how the parts are interacting. Plus scratches and it h you didn’t even know you had.
That's really cool! Now I really want to see an entire composition with this visualization method. Of course, at a 9:20 hour to 1 minute ratio, you may need to find a server farm.
This approach, expanded to other tracks and paces, will ABSOLUTELY help me start to grok music notation. Short of that (or a guitar-hero style transliteration into a non-sheet-music form), I just can't make sense of the nonsense that centuries of bards put together (if only an engineer had stepped in around 1480...). Keep it up! This is awesome!
Polyfjord, I have been blown away by this visualization.... and I don't get impressed easily. This is beyond amazing and incredibly accurate of what music looks like when playing piano and any other instrument for that matter. However, this is something that you should definitely do as a separate channel and just do musical pieces. Classical, Video Games, 80's & 90's, and more. I would watch this on my OLED TV all day long non-stop. Please, do more of these. Then when you have enough, to 1hr mixed music, 2 or 3 hr mixed edited videos. I mean, the possibilities are endless. I hope your work gets to be seen and shared throughout the world. I will Subscribe, Like, and Share every single music video you do. Take care! Can't wait to hear from you!!!
Love it -- can't wait for your tutorial! I taught myself to animate my own avant-garde experimental music scores (using Finale, Blender and Python scripts), but would love to figure out a quicker way to automate the process! Thanks so much for sharing your video!
beautiful!! nice work its so nice to see hear and full of style and good taste love it ,thank you so much for share and congratulations on your work . grettings Juan Manuel from argentina
One hell of a strong bridge that is!
Excellent wordplay my friend. Thank you!
@@Polyfjord can this make in blander render in unreal engine ? for better render time
This makes me think of the imaginary parkour ninja that runs alongside the car when you're a kid staring out the window on a long trip.
@@HitodamaKyrie Wait, so I'm not the only person who did that as a kid?!
NOT JUST ME‽
I literally said the EXACT same thing while watching the video, down to the letter 😂
I did that too! @_@ that's crazy!
Yeah thats common
This is incredible. I can’t wait until your finished with the tutorial.
It's "you're", not "your", god damn it. Illiteracy.
There’s going to be a tutorial? 😱

Reminds me a little of some of the “pyramid synth” in Destiny 2. Always loved that sound.

This is so amazingly cool. My brain likes the visual/audio synchronization a lot.
Now we need a full orchestra music sheet animation! seriously, with a different color for each orchestra section it would look AMAZING
I wanna see this SO BAD now!
One of the most creative and satisfying 3D projects I have seen this year! Keep up the good work Polyfjord
@@simeon_vkv i agree. Best visualization for amateurs too. I love piano but its very difficult to play.

Look up Sacred Harp. It's a book of religious songs that used different shapes on the notes to help inexperienced singers know what the notes are.

Any ETA on the tutorial?
A tutorial on how to make this 3D animation?
Dude.. i just love your style! Your ideas are amazing!
This is amazing. I like the small details like the tetris bricks in the background. ❤
they are not small details
Very nice to see how much dancing has to be done as a piano player it’s nice to see the notes coming to life as their played, great work 🎉
He is a confirmed genius but he is also handsome as hell. What a guy.
Could watch a 2 hour classical set like this with no problem!!! Amazing!
Beautiful! And creative. And great glow effect over paper😊
I only saw the thumbnail but didn’t read the title. I was pleasantly surprised when Tetris started playing!
The HDR looks incredible on this. The small regions of intense light really hit you in the retinas without being overwhelming.
This is kind of music video I would be glad to pay for!

The tetris blocks in the background are a nice touch 👌
This has got to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen. Music visualized. Once you see it you can’t go back. Bravo.
Wonderful! Such a nice way to better understand music sheets as well. I'd love to see more of these!
We definitely need more of this. Between the relaxing animation and the nostalgic music, it's a total win!

That so AWESOME!
And it feels like a way to learn music easier, visualizing the patterns like that…
I liked it 😲 idk what you were figuring out, but this was so cool!
It's so beautiful :o ! It has delicacy, the result is stunning, keep on creating visualization of this kind, you're on to something !!!
Unbelievable. This is the definition of "Perfection". Extraordinary. Well done.
This is why I follow your work, always a new and original idea executed so well!
That's so beautiful. Man, I wanted to see the whole song. Lovely rendering on the paper and the notes too.
😵💫9 hours rendering!?! Thought something like this would render in realtime in 2024.

That gave me deeper understanding of musical notation in relation to the piece.
Would love to see the full theme done like this! Tetris was my favorite game growing up!
