    Love the panel view, thanks for that! Always great getting to fly along in the 4P. Those in-air shots of the LX-7 were really amazing.
    Now when are you getting your LX-7? ;)

    Apart from that trashy Cessna 210 style undercarriage system, its otherwise not a bad plane. Pity Lancair didn't stick with more conventional Wing mounted main gear inward retracting design, less likely to have issues. I noted How on this video, the fuselage mounted C210 style gear legs have to retract one at a time so as not to collide with one another, and still the tires collided with their close out doors. Just seems dodgy , and appears untidy.

    • @gaFlights
      @gaFlights  Год назад +1

      I completely agree on the Lancair IV-P sketchy landing gear system. All of their other models have much simpler systems. And.... To do a gear swing test the aircraft has to be about 13" off the ground because the gear swings down before it goes up. While 13" may not seem like a lot it really is when you are jacking up this type of plane. The Lancair Evolution and all other models have a much simpler gear system.

      Thanks for watching. My Lancair 4P stalls at 85 KIAS, The LX-7 Stalls at 63 KIAS. That is considerably slower.

    Thanks for sharing. I’m coming from an A36 bonanza and looking into a iv-p or possibly a used LX7. Not having much luck finding one I’m comfortable with. If you know of any off market I’d love a referral. Thanks and keep the videos coming.

      Sure I’ll pass along some options as they come along. The LX-7 Featured in this video sold a few months ago. Insurance is one of the expensive complexities for either a IV-P or an LX-7.

    Nice. New purchase in the community? I didn't think the LX-7s were pressurized but I guess they are. Door mechanism just looks skinny but if done right in carbon fiber it might not need much to carry 1/3 atmosphere pressure. 3.3ton per m2 pressure to hold in. So maybe 1 ton for the door. CF can be stiff. I'm guessing that must cost 600k or more.

    • @gaFlights
      @gaFlights  Год назад +1

      Yes it is pressurized and to about 5 psi. The LX-7 Piston is in the $900k range.

      @@gaFlights could well be. but there is a turbine LX7 for sale now for 950 I think. with only a few hundred hours on it iirc. not sure how savage servicing a turbine can be. I'm not a fan of turboprops when jets are simpler and cooler. A Lancair 5P with lighter construction and 2 small jets built for speed could be mighty cool. The LX-7 seems a little heavier than yours and top speed seems a little lower. Abit more than a ton. I figure a pressurized 4 seater with 2 light jets could weigh less than half. Which matters a lot to fuel consumption and speed. And runway length. And cost because weight begets weight and waste. Dropping a grand piano in weight is no small difference. 700km/h and transatlantic capability from a grass strip and LSA economy would be mighty cool. I'd also like to see them water tight which should be easy when pressurized such that if necessary it could water land and just float indefinitely rather than pull a titanic in the frigid atlantic. It makes a difference. Leonardo di caprio would still be alive :)

    have a nice day. What is the maximum speed of the plane? I want to make this plane. What will be the total cost to me? How many hp is the plane? Thank you.

    • @johnb2271
      @johnb2271 Год назад

      I flight plan it at 240 knots which I can get if altitude is up in the teens. (The higher the better.) Ceiling is FL250. Fuel flow at cruise is about 14 GPH. It holds 180 gallons so will go about 2,500 miles on a tank, but that is way too long a time for me to sit still. Runs on a Continental TSIO 550-E engine. 350 HP. Mine is being picked up next week at Spruce Creek and flown to Oregon to be sold. I am selling because the insurance cost for an old pilot (over 70) is extremely expensive. (To say it kindly.) The used market for these is HOT because they make only 4 new ones of these per year. Of those 3/4 are turbo prop. Used ones in good shape sell for the cost of new. You cannot make the plane yourself like you could a 4P. They take a Lancair 4P, cut the wings and tail off, truck it to the factory in Oregon, strip everything out of the fuselage and build it entirely new. I was at the factory in August for the annual condition inspection. Very impressive.

      Good day first. Cruising speed is 250 knots. The range is 2500 km. What is the 2022 model price of this plane? What is the maximum speed of a 2-seater plane? 2 or 4 people. 300-400 miles. 1500 km range. Do you have a 2022 model plane? Can I buy a plane with these specifications for 600.000 USD? please provide information. thanks.

    • @johnb2271

      It is my lx7 in video. I have had it exactly 1 year. Really love it. Fast. pressurized, full-aircraft parachute. Only one thing NOT to like, is the insurance cost. It has the Lancair insurance stigma - even though the LX7 is completely re-engineered.

      @@mduthie1 We just took a month long trip around the US on the way to Oregon for the annual condition inspection. Stopped every few hours and spent the night with friends/relatives. Took a week to get to Oregon. Spent almost 2 weeks there, and then spent another 10 days on the way back, spending time in SoCal and Texas. Most of the South or Eastbound flights were above FL 180. Westbound I kept it in the teens for better ground speed. Other than that we just fly some place for lunch. LOL
