Lancair IV-P are stupid fast. But these planes also have some of the highest accidents and fatality rates. This is not the plane for a beginner or novice pilot. Must pay close attention to your numbers when flying these birds as they leave little to no room for errors. Follow the owner of this plane at ruclips.net/user/gaFlights

This airplane is a dream but the accident numbers should be a warning for GA pilots, flying at this speed on experimental plane you really need to be on your top game.

Mike, I need to thank you. I’m an Air Force veteran, I’ve loved aviation for years. Unfortunately like so many others, life and family needs prevented me from doing anything about it. I’ve been watching you and other RUclipsrs like Mike Patey and Trent Palmer wishing I could share the adventures. Your interview with Kit Darby finally made me stop dreaming and start taking steps to achieving my dreams. I enrolled in Liberty University’s bachelor of aviation program and I’m taking flight lessons through their affiliate partner Lanier Flight center. Thank you again.

@@superskullmaster I had the same thought, I don't know if there has been a worse time in history to start a career in aviation, however, I would think that it might be a good time for training. There must be a huge number of CFI's looking for work with all of the airline bankruptcies and layoffs.

Robert Clark Sales Director of Lancair International.
Great Video!, Yep Mojo nailed it. One of the literal "Time Machines" provided by Lancair International. The LIV-P and LIV-PT (trubine) are some of the most sought after aircraft in the market for those who A) respect the flight numbers .. (Airspeed, etc) and B) have the need to get from A to B in just about the shortest time!. Lancair Still supports the Lancair fleet to include the LIV-P (as well as all lancairs). However Lancair dose not produce this platform (LIV) in kit form.
Hats off MOJO for the attention to the Lancair aircraft and community. Next trip to Texas please come visit us MOJO!.. KUVA (Uvalde Texas)!

Production planes don't even begin to compare to advanced experimental planes. When you buy one already built, you usually buy for the cost of materials. The 2000 man hours is free. The craftsmanship is better then production because these planes are built by A-Type pilots who have exquisite attention to detail.

Guys just to give u a BETTER understanding of this aircraft. It can do 335mph, fly at FL290 easily AND set a world speed record of pole to pole plus breaking other speed records as it went along. I think the pilots name was Bill Harrelson. Also a range using the normal fuel tanks “u can install the larger ones if u wish” of 1250 with legal fuel reserves still available. That baggage compartment goes right back as well so u can get 4 ppls luggage in. Th Evolution is the newest version if u want to check it out.

That's a beautiful plane, Mike. Are you aware of Raptor Aircraft? The Raptor is a new kit plane that has just had its first flight into ground effect in the last week or so. It is a beautiful plane that - if Peter can keep the price anywhere near what he hopes - will outclass nearly every other single-engine airplane in overall performance and value on the market. If you're willing, contact Peter and see if he is ready to be interviewed yet. He is currently testing out of KVLD. Please take a look and see what you think of it.

The specs are too suspicious and they have a lot of issues right now. I will newer sit in the raptor

Aleksandr Plokhikh , which aircraft never had issues during development? Also, which is the most recent video of the Raptor have you watched?

J J, Peter was very close with the numbers for rotation. We will have to wait and see about the other performance numbers, but it is reasonable to expect that he is in the ballpark with the rest. As for price, even at double the price, is there another piston airplane that can come within 70% of its range and fuel economy?

@@sterlingtardie guys from raptor team can not even quantify the cooling capability and stall of fore-wing. Most of GA aircrafts have less than one third of Raptors issues during development stage. And Raptor have not even made its maiden flight. Minimal speed of Raptor is more than 90kts! Look on the performance of their Audi engine! 350 hp at 11gph it means that efficiency of this engine is more than 68%, which does not make any sense even for diesel engine! They made stupid calculation about area rule, which does not have any sense for this aircraft, they just try to attract our attention from the really crucial things like real engine efficiency. Raptor - is one big scam!

Really great over view. Unfortunately for me, I don't think I would fit. I'm 6'7". Head and leg room are always an issue...I like being tall for just everything in life except when it comes to fitting into some airplanes. But on the positive side, I can usually add fuel on a high wing pretty easy :)

    Airframe, not body frame
Speed brakes are also found on gliders.. so that doesn't say much about its cruise speed.. oh, was that IAS, TAS or GS for the 250 kts?

The IV-P has a VNE of just under 300 KTS, and at altitude, speeds are always given in TAS. In the flight levels, the IV-P should _easily_ do 250KTAS, as the smaller, non-turbo legacy can almost maintain that.
