- BBC News 24 rebrands into BBC News
On Monday 21st April 2008, BBC News changed its name
and branding. The channel also moved from studio N8 to N6.
This video shows the midnight headlines in the old studio with Martine Croxall,
0830 junction from Breakfast to the News Channel,
first ever studio guest David Cameron (future PM) making
an awkward remark about the look of the new studio,
and the 0845 Headlines.

I think he said “Spartan”
He did! Thank you.
spartan (adjective)
- showing or characterised by *austerity* or a lack of comfort or luxury.
"the accommodation was fairly spartan"
Austerity eh? I’m saying nothing 🤐
Of course the '24' TOTH headline graphic bumpers were only ever shown at midnight on 21 April 2008. News 24 used to use a generic wipe between the headlines. Was the gallery staff saying goodbye to the 24 name.
RIP Bill Turnbull, who makes an appearance here at 2:10
Ah yes. The Breakfast dream team of Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams.
🙏🙏🙏

I wish BBC NEWS CHANNEL could rename BBC NEWS 24 in April 2023 after 15 year hiatus.
