The BTS girl reminds me of a friend I had in high school. She was so obsessed with Duran Duran (yes...I'm old) that she was convinced that they were taking her to prom. She got dressed up & spent all of prom night sitting by her door, waiting for them to show up. We tried to convince her to come with us but she was convinced "her boys" were coming to pick her up. Hope she got therapy.

That photo of the party that no one attended cut me to the quick.
I was badly bullied in high school. I had absolutely no friends until Grade 12, when I found a small group of outcasts like myself. The first 3 years were a nightmare, I dreaded walking into the school every morning. My anxiety was so bad that some days I would throw up before leaving for school. Unfortunately, this was waaaay back in the 70's, before anyone took bullying seriously, including my parents.
When I was in Grade 11, my parents had the brilliant idea to have me host an end-of-the-school-year party. I tried everything to put them off, hoping they would give up on the idea or forget about it. But they insisted and persisted, and just wouldn't let it go. I had literal panic attacks while asking people to come to the party. As I said, I had no friends and plenty of bullies, so I basically asked the 2 people who sat in front of and behind me in each class.
The day of the party came, my parents had gone all out on the food, and, of course, no one showed up. Now, I was humiliated in front of my whole family. My parents and my 3 younger sisters were all there to see that not a single person liked me enough to come to the party. And to make things worse, my father would tease me about it for years after. Because he was an asshole like that.
Knowing what I felt like on that day, whenever I see a post like this one, or a child's birthday that no one showed up to, it just makes me cry. I have 3 grown children. They went to every birthday party they were ever invited to when they were kids. Even if they were invited by someone who wasn't a close friend, or didn't really want to go, I told them my story. I explained that maybe that child didn't have any really close friends, but still wanted a party. I told them that it was probably someone who wanted to be friends but may have just been very shy about making new friends. I asked them how they would feel if they had a birthday party and no one came. I told them that it costs nothing to be kind. I had a few parents thank me over the years because only my children and (maybe) one other child showed up at their party, but those couple guests meant everything to their child. Being a parent, I couldn't imagine having to look at my child sitting at an empty birthday table, and I was never going to let another parent watch their child go through that either.

Ehh ... I'm 6'4" and I find it off-putting when people demand their dates be at least/at most a certain height. People have no control over how tall/short they are.
They do, however, have control over how much they weigh, which is usually the thing that women get incredibly angry at men for having requirements for. There are people who are medically incapable of controlling their weight, but those are an incredibly rare minority. And I say that as someone who is quite fat without a medical reason.

    • @hyrum3759

Hahaha definitely agree, it's the same with most people who whine. Gay and straight alike. They might have this unrealistic ideal that they aren't even willing to put the effort in for. "I want a super fit girl that can take care of herself.... but I never work out and hate working but she'll like me for my personality... Who knows everyone likes different things you just might find it." but you are less likely to find something like that. She had a really good point, "it wasn't his height that was the issue it was his attitude and negativity that was probably making people take steps back because she was genuinely interested and he didn't even address her concern when she mentioned that she got judgments from people too.

Truth. People tend to project their own insecurities onto others. So if they always inspect themselves under a magnifying glass and hate themselves for certain flaws, they apply that logic to people around them as well. It's why pity parties are so off-putting to begin with. Cause mentally grounded people usually don't want that vibe in a relationship.

Few things make me so incredibly sad as seeing a set party table someone has prepared, hoping/wanting/believing people they invited will come and then... they don't. It's just heartbreaking to me, no matter if it happens to a child or an adult, because it such a vicious way of learning that the friends you thought you had, weren't your friends at all.
I just can't with "parties that never happened because no one showed up" pics, because unless there had been some really unfortunate mistake that was literally no ones fault and the invited guests had every intention to come but got the wrong date or something, it's just so fucking devestating.

I think it’s intentionally vicious, and probably a concerted effort.
I would decide that everyone did it intentionally.
At which point, I would have no more to do with them. If there were coworkers involved, I would limit myself to courteous at work communication, and no more. I’d certainly not accept apologies. I’d shrug, say “don’t worry about it” and walk away.
In these situations, hard as it is, maintain courtesy and respect. Period. No more.

Only then I noticed that he had a tiny white spot which wasn’t even noticeable at all. (And any way, I wouldn’t have minded obviously). I thought that non-fan was far to nice. BTS are an artificial group of puppets that hop around to computer-produced 2-chord music. Imho that is not music. And hyping a "music"-group with members that are only chosen for very specific looks and that had to undergo plastic sugery to look even more "perfect" to be accepted into the overproduced-group is horrible. There are so many really good artists in the music business, that are actually musicians that can write their own songs and play real instruments... and such a bubble-gum-pink joke has an army????? This is the reason I left the ARMY fandom almost three years ago.
I've been a KPop fan for about 15 years now, and, while I mean absolutely no offense to all ARMY, and am by no means lumping them all into the same category (Although I'm pretty sure that some ARMY will read this and *STILL* take personal offense to what I say and assume it's a personal jab at them or BTS), out of all the fandoms that I've been part of, ARMY was hands down the most toxic and annoying.
Some of them, their entire world revolves solely around BTS, and they build their entire identity around being an ARMY, and lash out at anyone who doesn't want to be a fan, cursing at people and accusing them of being jealous. And before BTS made it big, they would relentlessly hound people to check out their music, even when people weren't KPop fans. And if other KPop artists came out with a new song/album or music video, ARMY would flood the comments section, telling people to check out BTS instead. If people declined, or just wasn't into their music or KPop at all, they'd cuss them out and insult them.
I know all of this for a fact because I was a fan for almost five years. And when I was in the fandom and I tried to tell ARMY to chill, to stop hounding people, etc, I'd get cussed out, was told that I was jealous and called a fake fan for "Not promoting/standing up for our boys "
Personally, I love BTS music. But my world never revolved around them, and I couldn't stand how toxic and obsessive some people in the fandom are.

For the girl that wanted an answer to her question.
The reason why I don't like K-pop are the following reasons:
    1. The culture surroubding K-pop is that you should try to look like a teenager even though most of the "stars" are approachong 30. The number of people doing plastic surgery are the #1 in the world in Korea, horrible business making money on people's insecurities and these so called "K-pop stars" are supporting this. It's a business that will subtly change what is looked upon as attractive, so that the next thing you want surgery for is different than the decade before, very smart scamming business.
    2. Due to them having plastic surgery all 7 of the MEN approacing thirty in one of the most popular K-pop bands, lool the exact same, like creepy asian dolls, you know, that kind that haunts most peoples dreams.
    3. There is always going to be some new trend brainwashing young people into thinking it's the greatest thing ever, because it's flashy and it's looks like the perfect world from the outIde, all sparkly and rainbows and candy land. But it's not, it's all fake. The one hope I have is that you are 11-16 years old when you are involved in the trend and then grow up. Another example of this trend is the Justin B phase, sadly still lingering for no apperent or justifiable reason.
    4. People most of the time just have different oppinions and tastes, it's only because you obnoxiously insisted on an answet that I would bother giving you one, just take the first answer if you can't handle the long and real one. Thank you.

When I didn’t reply he said well I guess you didn’t like that and some other woe is me crap. He was a big teddy bear and was a single dad, I thought he was totally adorable but he drove with away with his insecurities. Guys don’t do this shit!
