Craftsman, m79 and flare pistol: the hinges and locks that would hold the gun locked in place are worn and are blown off by sheer force. G3, FAL and MP5: the barrels are the trouble spot obviously, the screws that hold them to the trigger section can’t stand the forces. AKs: the forces have worn out the entire section above the firing chamber as well as the magwell. MGL: the stock has worn to the point the bolt holding it on can’t withstand its own recoil Homeland, silenced and spas: the pumps act as a built in magazine, when the chamber fails it transmits the force through this section hence blowing off the pump. Usas: like the automatics the barrels screws are worn out. M1903: the bolt has been worn down to the point it just blows off backwards. SVD and AS50: once again barrel anchor points are worn causing it to blow off. Pkm and M249: the belt tensioner hinge is worn out. Dart rifle: just a bad c02 blowout somewhere in the gun Flamethrower: it would seem the straps holding it together just gave out. RPG: in this case the entire trigger assembly comes off by recoil. Carl: it’s breach guard hinge is busted when touched. Crossbow: the arms are so bad when the trigger is pulled they can’t transmit the force to launch the arrow in the normal way causing them to break. Mortar: it would seem the force just broke the mortars legs.

Man this game was so advanced for the time. I remember playing it for the first time back in 2008 and the graphics were stunning. I loved the weapon degradation. I wish they would bring this back in the new Far Cry!

I really like how the guns are started from shiny and new to rusted and sometimes jams (meaning they are not taken care properly). The fact that the developers actually really put time and effort to this game. Really nice how they just detail every small little thing in this game.

Onixrobot not unless the mortar system was on trigger fire, and I believe the the round didn’t fire out, so if the firing pin was on drop fire and didn’t fire off the round, then yes the round would’ve been buzzing. However it takes a lot of pressure to crush the fuze which detonated the round. Not the safest but he probably would’ve been aight.

That timer is still ticking even if the grenade doesn’t actually _launch._ When a grenade launcher misfires but still strikes the grenade, it basically just becomes an incredibly risky hand grenade

Wellllllll... Technically the explosion is from the gunpowder increasing internal pressure inside past the weapons failure point and not the grenade itself. So its possible the grenade projectile is intact still. Tho i dont think the devs really know this or care.
I love how when the 1903 blows up, a full clip just falls from the thing rather than up to 4 just flying around. Makes some sense though from a development perspective. On bolt actions in games often times the clip or even loose bullets are hidden inside the model so they dont have to respawn every time the reload anim plays.

I love how when the 1903 blows up, a full clip just falls from the thing rather than up to 4 just flying around.
Makes some sense though from a development perspective. On bolt actions in games often times the clip or even loose bullets are hidden inside the model so they dont have to respawn every time the reload anim plays.
