    ..... Dude, I can’t believe this video is 7yrs old now!!... Jeezuz... Time has flown by!!!... Even more unbelievably is that I still do not own a Mark23 yet, because I’m still trying to keep up with all the other HKs that you flaunt on this channel 😎... Every new video you show another HK on, becomes the new hotness that I covent and that makes it hard to keep in stride.. I hate you😬... Pretty soon I’m going to be living in a van down by the river and it will be all your fault.... My dog only eats once a week now because of the ammo crunch now, but yet my wife hasn’t lost any weight and her ass is still wide as a rubber dummy target despite tightening the belt around here in order to make room for more HK in my life... This might come across as shallow, selfish, and all that but at the end of the day it’s all about filling as many gun safes as possible while life still flows through my trigger finger....

      Not the booty!!!!!! That's the biggest tragedy. Gotta have a booty to grab on to! Ammo prices are insane. I have seen my LGS drop prices back lower on the guns themselves, but ammo is seriously bad still. I'm not happy about it, and it's keeping me in stock ammo mode, vs have a stash, and 50/50 split new ammo for range/bad day stock. It's a sad state of affairs, but I'm sitting better than some of my friends. Some are sitting better than I am. But I'm happy I got all the HK's I did, when I did. Especially the rifles. It hurt me deeply spending that money then, but I wouldn't be able to afford one now at the prices they're charging now. Thanks for the comment man, it lifted my spirits.

      Got three of them now. Anybody got a "Desert Tan" colored one with the frame cast in "Desert Tan" color..? They only imported 500 so they're somewhat rare.

      @@johnyoungs7453 ... I have only seen a colored frame Mark23 on video.. I’m not sure, but I think FDE is the only colored frame they make for it, besides the original black frame obviously, and I have heard rumblings of asking prices close to 3k for BNIB private sale... That’s rifle money territory, but I don’t think I could walk away from it if I was in a good position to get one... I convince myself by saying it’s only a few hundred more bucks than a plain Jane and one, and I can always make more money to cover the extra expense... And like you said, they only produced like 500 that made it here to the States.. The only real problem is that ya’ need to have two of them 😬.... It will never end 👍😬😎🇺🇸

      @@Peenurpool I've got three of them. One to carry, one in my safe as a "backup", and one more, well, I guess because I love these bloody guns...!! They all have GG&G pic rails attached, along with Surefire X-400U weapon lights with green targeting lasers attached. Before my "blue" state of "Washingtax" (Gov. INSLEE, that prick...!!) went spastic stupid & forced a "10-round magazine ban" on us (hopefully, recent Supreme Court decisions will cancel that bullshit..!!), I bought a bunch of HK Parts Store 17-round HK Mk 23 .45ACP magazines ($120/a pop...!!) for all three guns. Current mags (then) were grandfathered in.

I’m just like you and want to buy another only to put it into a frame and display it. I too am an HK fanboy but for good reason. They make the best small arms in the industry. Above Glock, Beretta and Colt. If they made a shotgun I’d buy it, but for now my Benelli M4 will do. Great video!

      I carry mine concealed in a leather fanny pack holster with NO problems whatsoever - and - a 17-round mag WITH a spare 17-round mag, to boot..! Yes, it's a big package. But at the same time, it REALLY does "inspire" a good deal of confidence in the gun - you pull this out, along with an attached Surefire X400/U (with a green laser) weapon light, and you feel like Sir Lancelot just having drawn your sword, ready to defend your woman's virtue...! It feels "rock solid" in your hand, and you can carry it "cocked & locked", Ala' 1911...! Worth the price, in my humble opinion...!

      I've handled one, and I've fired the FNP 45 suppressed with the rds. I can see the draw to it, it's a solid gun. Not for me personally, but I see why people like them. I like how the HK feels, and I will say the MARK 23 is a monster. IT's super accurate and gets work done. 3 rounds less, and slightly longer, but still is an amazing choice. I'd fire the FNP 45 again if given the opportunity, and I've only got 51 rounds through the rental one here. I think if I shot one more, I'd grow to like it just fine. Some small features I'm not a fan of, but nothing I can't work around.

    Any suggestions for getting a Mark 23 cut for an RMR? Mark at L&M Precision said he's retiring on his website and isn't taking anymore orders. Which is a shame because there was a photo credit of his work where the RMR co-witnessed the irons. And I've taken firearms to "gunsmifs" that did terrible work. It would be nice to actually have someone who knew what they were doing.

    Question navyman8903…..First off I'm not very knowledgeable in firearms BUT i've always wanted to buy this gun as my 1st gun to own. Regardless of all that other stuff you've already mentioned that others say. (QUESTION) When you say that the gun "wears off" its own finish…is that bad? Would I have to purchase an additional barrel down the road like 10 years from now? I've always thought the wear was just breaking it in kinda like "fine wine".

    • @navyman8903
      @navyman8903  10 лет назад

      The barrel will our last the gun. They are made from cannon grade steel. As for the MARK being your first gun purchase, it's a big bear to try to tame for a first hand gun. If you want to start out with a full size war gun as your first pistol, it isn't necessarily a bad thing, I would look for a CCW option soon after though. The MARK 23 can not get a higher recommendation from me. Just don't know if I would start with it. I think an all around Pistol would be a first good purchase, with the MARK 23 after. But if you are looking to get the big purchase out of the way, then that isn't a bad Idea either. But what I will say is, the MARK 23 is a solid weapon, and will last generations.

      The recoil looks more aggressive at times, and you can't stop putting effort into the gun, but the actual impulse is very relaxed. I love it. The USP and the HK45 recoil very soft for me, I'd say it would be splitting hairs overall. Very close between the 3. The HK45c is probably the snappiest out of the group, but that is due to its size. That'd be tough man.....If I had to sell down, I'd get rid of my 9mm's lol. I can't choose between the 45's. I have a serious love affair with my HK45T in Tan (review will be up tomorrow) and the MARK. I still love my USP 45's and will never sell them. I also love the balance of the Size/capacity. If I had to arm people with a sidearm, it'd be the USP 45. Best size, trigger options, and capacity. The HK45 fits me like a glove, and the MARK is a house. I'd be that guy with the 1 rifle and a bag full of pistols. It's a hard choice. I will say, you can't go wrong with a Modern 45acp HK.

    He looks like an experianced shooter, but he is not. Or at least it doesn't show. He is scared of the recoil and it shows at 1:21 where you can see him pulling the trigger and pushing the weapon down to compensate for the recoil. This can be seen by chance because there was a delay between pressing the trigger and the gun going off. I did this too when i started shooting a long time ago, luckely not anymore thanks to a great teacher. I also see that he holds the weapon way too tightly. Holding it with so much tense your accuracy will be reduced. My tip is when you shoot, hold the gun just enough that it doesn't drop out or your hand and pull the trigger so slowly that the fire of the weapon takes you by surprise. Of course this doesn't work with rapid fire.

    Red Beard, where art thou? It seems that there is someone capable of shooting the MK23. Full disclosure... he is a fanboy; but he's a fanboy that can shoot! I guess it takes a Navy man, to navigate "the Nimitz class MK23"?
