Concrete tips... Dont put concrete under posts as it will be like a cup and hold water. Instead put gravel in botom of hole, place post, add a bit of dirt to stop concrete from reaching bottom, then add concrete. It will allow drainage, prevent rapid rotting. Tip 2... Add 2 16p nails in each side of post to act as rebar conecting post to concrete. I learned that from years of fence and deck building as a young man. You're welcome. Happy building 😃👍
After building an Uncle Justin chickshaw mini-me, you greatly discount your carpentry skills Jason! Your family all works so well together. You, Lorraine and Penelope always inspire. Thank you.
Total kicking chicken coop. You did an excellent job of explaining and demonstrating the build me and my grandson are going to try one soon. Keep up the good work and God bless you all
I built this using your plans. Hens moved in last night. I found the most difficult part was getting the foundation square. I would add the roost and nesting boxes last, because it was difficult to work over and around them. Good job.
I am a steel broker, and my only suggestion on this ADORABLE hen house is a good coat of Rustoleum on your roof. A nice reflective white. It will last and look, better longer. Those round windows are very cute.
Love the coop! The round windows & the door for the nesting boxes look like a face. You could also paint the nesting box door to look like a planter box & turn the windows into big sunflowers. You could paint other smaller flowers around them in the “planter box”. It is really nice & looked like a pretty easy build. You are a great builder. Keep up the great work & videos. Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸👍❤️🌻🥰🙏🙏🙏
Great work, Jason, Lorraine, n Lady P. Y,all have grown in so many ways. It says a lot about y,all when your community asks for your help. Wonderful humans with a kind soul. Well done.
I laid out 1/4" hardware cloth extended beyond the coop to overall the bottom of the entire chicken yard, up the sides and over the top because - Predators will find a way. It costs more but worth it. It was one of the few things I purchased for my chicken coop and yard. I am like you, I used what I had. I found a roll of linoleum taken out of a home remodel for the flooring & up the sides a little for ease of cleaning. Because it is Las Vegas, NV desert heat and not so cold winters, I only will use walls when needed. I did invest in a double nest roll away nest which I didn't put in the center divider. My girls prefer to use the same nest, sometimes at the same time so I wanted it to be large. The fencing around the whole chicken yard is 8ft tall...again...Predators. Love your round windows. Having the sloped roof makes for much easier rain & snow run off. I just love your coop. The finishing touches make it very nice.
The side that has the nesting box door and the two round windows, I would paint eyelashes on the two round windows and pink lips on the nesting box door. I would not be able to restrain myself, lol. I like how you built a taller coup. Very nice, and you always do such a good job of explaining. peace and love, y'all ♡♡♡
Jason you could have used the 4x4 post as corner post if they was long enough and attach the walls to them up to the roof line so no need to shorten the corner post.
Congrats on your 100,000 subs!! So kind of you to help Meg & Ben of Hollar Homestead by helping lay their flooring 💝 Amazing how you came up with the “extras” on the little chicken coop...fancy coop condo.
love love ❤ I will deff be using some of your ideas ! I've learnt that oval and bigger is better for roost, for chooks toes, say 2x2 with beveled edges.. also chickens love triangles to peep and walk thru, like into nesting boxes and doorways, and that over head cover by exit is very comforting for them. 😊 beautiful work bro.
First of all Congratulations on 100K subs😍 Jason your such a craftsman🥰 Ty you and your beautiful wife Loraine for helping the Hollars Homestead I don't no where you get your energy we love you guys🥰💐🌷
I love, Love , LOVE your Chicken coop. Especially the round windows and the rectangle mouth of the nest area :-) Such a nice coop for your hens. Way to go! Looked like a quick 15 minute build ... Ha.
Jason thank you so very much for always showing us your builds. We have recently move back up to our farm property in N Western NC near the Blue Ridge Pkwy and are making preparations to start homesteading.
Hi..... Jason I love that chicken coop you build it awesome, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐖🌱🎥👍👍👍
I’ve watched a lot of coop videos cause I want to only make one and not want to redo things I don’t like. Your video was definitely one of the best I’ve seen. Got lots of great ideas!
Finally, the perfect chicken coop. Your plan is awesome. You address any issues with building a coop and it's pleasing to the eye. I love that you made it a family project. Your daughter is adorable and enjoys helping her Mom and Dad. 😊😊 Best wishes.
Love that closing line: “And check out this video because RUclips thinks you’ll enjoy it” 😁😆😂 too tired to make something up, just tell us the truth. Jason you’re the best 👍🏽
First off let me say thank you to you and Lorraine for helping the Hollars....great how your community comes together for one another. Love your chicken coop, you did a great job on it. And tell Penelope she did a great job as your help and painter also. It is so nice she wants to get in there and help you as well as working in the garden to help Lorraine. Y'all have a Blessed day.
About to build a coop too. Having watched this will help me with some techniques. I want one I can walk in though, so it will be a bit bigger. Thanks for a useful video!
Love his kind of chicken coop. Planning to build one almost identical. I just want one wall to be an entire door so I can clean the chicken coop very easily.
Man, you've really become a master builder 👷♂️ love that coop. You'll have to update how your chickens like it. I bet that will be a great skill to have to earn extra income! Love that you guys went and helped out the Hollars. That's why I want to move to NC. Amazing homestead community!❤
We got a lot of awesome ideas from your videos. Our customers will surely love your channel. We will share this with them to get knowledgeable things about farming, particularly managing your poultry. Thanks for creating this channel!
If you get some cheap linoleum, you can use that for the floor, and you can actually use a kid's mop to mop out that floor. If you go to a flooring store, sometimes they sell remnants for little cost. Or you can buy a 6' x 9' roll at Lowe's.

Excuse me. Where do you add the nails? At the base?
Love it

Its a brilliant coop. I love it! Extremely well thought out & cleverly built. You're very clever Jason. That is my dream coop.

I love how this turned out. Great job!
Outstanding, I've learned new tricks from your video 👍
I would definitely paint the top white since you don't have any shade on it. Those coops turn into ovens in a hurry!
Yeah it says 100,000!!!! Congratulations!!
Hi..... Jason I love that chicken coop you build it awesome, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐖🌱🎥👍👍👍
You always make me feel like I can build , too. Another super build!!
I made one similar this spring. Used T1-11 on exterior, attached a run with hardware cloth (can't freerange). Was a fun project
I’ve watched a lot of coop videos cause I want to only make one and not want to redo things I don’t like. Your video was definitely one of the best I’ve seen. Got lots of great ideas!

Excellent 👍 wonderful !!!! Perfect video... Thanks
One of the best videos you have done. Very interesting.
I love the chicken coop.
That is a really nice looking couple! And the design looks very smart and usable. 😊❤️🙏
Roost Bar Tip. Attach your roost bars using a hinge. This way you can swing them up to the ceiling to allow for a much easier clean out of the coop.
First off let me say thank you to you and Lorraine for helping the Hollars....great how your community comes together for one another. Love your chicken coop, you did a great job on it.

I don't even have chickens and I loved the video and process of this!
I like it, overengineered a bit but you could park a tank on it so thats cool. XD
I liked this narrated style of video from you.
