Growing up in the ‘50’s & ‘60’s, my mother had that very mold hanging up with 5 others of a set of different shapes. She made & taught me to appreciate gelatin salads, though she called them “aspics.” They were always delicious & always made supper interesting, which is quite a homemaker achievement while parenting 3 kids under age 10. I’ve inherited the lobster & all 5 “sisters” & nothing makes me happier than offering a delicious “aspic” @ covered dish meals, especially since they’re now new discoveries for my younger friends. Old-fashioned becomes new-fashioned once again! And that wonderful BH & G Salad Cookbook has been on my cookbook shelves since it was handed down to me in 1970. I love it!

You remind me of my grandmother, in the way you dress, and your home. That was her exact style. She wore clothes from that era her entire life. She was a small, slender lady, like you. Her kitchen, built in 1951, had all of the newest 50's appliances. Her oven was up high, in the wall, and her electric stovetop was on an island. Very new, and trendy for the time. She used them until she passed in the early 2000's. Still in near new condition. She took meticulous care of everything. ❤ Just thought I would share.

We used the lobster 🦞 all the time for all kinds of different salads, as well as the other molds. What a blast from the past this video has been! You've inspired me to pull them out and use them again. I'd forgotten about them. Such fun memories of growing up with my six siblings! Thank you! ❤

Haha! The faces I really can't move on haha. Oh god, yah I wouldn't prefer Pecans in that, such a solid off texture in a largely transparent gelatinous main background texture. Same with icecream, which just melts in your mouth leaving awkward pecans or what have you to crunch on as all the icecream dissipates. Lovely dress!

I’m a writer with a book setting in the early 1960s. My mother hung a set of copper molds on the wall but I have forgotten if there was a rule about what could be put into which shape. At that time, was there a rule that savory molds went into the fish container while the dessert and fruit salads were put into the rings and other non-fish shapes? Thanks for your help!
