UBOAT is a new Submarine Simulator that just Surfaced out of early access. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.
Always makes me chuckle when english speakers pronounce Wilhelmshaven.
To help out: In German the s and h do not combine and (in this case) the v is pronounced like F.
So it's Wilhelm's Haven, or in a more modern spelling: Wilhelm's Hafen (literally Wilhelm's Port). And that's also the phonetic spelling, I guess.

Phonetically you would spell it as one word though. So it would become Wilhelmshafen again. Just the s being pronounced like in Sauce

Once you run out of arguments with captains on neutral ships, go check the cargo so you can report back to BDU that you have completed a cargo inspection, for extra points.

Please turn on the stabilisation for the UZO again. Pretty please... it makes me queasy watching when you are trying to identify targets etc... and to be fair, the amount of movement is unrealistic. The operator would be able to compensate much better than that manually.
I'd like to add to this comment. While an unstabilized view may be more immersive when playing, it is quite different and very rough when watching a video. I would also argue that an operator, on deck, would naturally have a more stable view, compared to someone watching a video. Love the videos overall, please keep them coming!

Manual optic stabilisation is one of those things that reeeeeally doesn't translate well to video games because digital inputs lack any sort of finesse by design. It's one of those rare instances where you actually DO want a joystick.
You can turn it on? Why would you turn it off in the first place? Immersion? You want immersion, join the navy.
I'm working on a mod that does that, i.e. manual stabilization on the press of a button. Once it's out, he just needs use it. 😅

Red light is for night time and blue lights for diving. And you can assign somone to the diving station so your uboot doesnt breach the surface
I try to avoiding the blue light as it is unrealistic, even if it looks cool. I use it typically when being hunted.
@@Wolfpack345There is a "Realistic Light Modes" mod that replaces the garish red and blue lights with more era-appropriate lighting.
You can enable it mid-save no problem, and it cleanly uninstall should you not like it.
@@Wolfpack345 It does provide less oxygen consumption when diving that said and less crew noise (-6 dB iirc).
I really like these sub uploads better than any… just commenting to help the algorithm!
It's a bit immersion-breaking that alarm is automatically sounded when you spot an allied vessel (before you even determine its nationality).
Alarm = allied.
No alarm = neutral.
Hoping that gets addressed in a patch at some point.
There is a mod for that. It doesn't guarantee that lone merchant ships are neutral though, some fly fake flags and carry contraband.

I've generally come to like drawing map lines between areas typically traveled. (E.g. in the North Sea, pretty much everything travels to Bergen) It makes tracking ships a lot easier.

I've seen you can dismantle certain pieces of the boat for spare parts. I haven't done it but my first choice would be the electric compressor.
You were right to not shoting that Argentinian freighter, given that Argentina remained neutral to Germany, keeping an active comerce between both countries, for the most part of WW2, only entering to the allied side when it was clear that the war on Europe was about to end.
Most probably that was not an Argentinian vessel but sailing under false flag. The captain didn't speak Spanish and it was by no means heading towards Vigo.
I would have searched the cargo hold and then sunk the ship.

I was skulking around in a British Port of Edinburgh and I saw a Argentinian Flagged vessel. Im under the impression that if its docked in a Enemy port its fair game is it not?

Well done, but I wonder if an attack on the surface to begin would have been risked. U-133s attack had distracted the escorts and a surface attack with the decks awash may not have been detected by the merchants. In addition a third ship may have been attacked by the stern tube at close range also. Once one dives, the boat is much slower and is detectable by Asdic. Early in the war radar was not available on many escorts. It looks like you may escape all the same with some luck and skill. Nice job on the estimations for the TDC.

Interesting. I wonder if there will be a point where you and another uboat can actually work together and take out the escort ships before moving on to the convoy.
With a smaller convoy with maybe one or two escorts it might be doable to sink the warships which should leave the rest of the convoy as easy prey.
maybe the other uboat gave you the added advantage for the attack, either way awesome stuff wolfpack.

If there were only two escorts, why didn't you sink those first and then attack all the freighter with you deck gun or reload and shot eals?

Setting up shifts to make sure officers aren’t tired, you’re maximizing fuel economy, and you can set up a dive schedule is nice for quality of life.
4x6 hr shifts for leader+engineer and 3 on on 3 off for radioman and diving while on duty
5 on - 3 off with overlaps works good with Leaders. And especially for when there's a Radio & Tech officer.
He needs more officer first. I go with this: one radio/hydrophone/radar operator (more is useless, especially dedicated medics), three chiefs, three mechanics.
One mechanic is a weapon specialist. The other two take turns for the engine perfectly, and when in combat, the third helps with loading and maintaining torpedos, often the one on the engines also helps to maintain the rear tube when managing speed is not important and maintaining is. Always carrying a rebreather and 5 spare parts.
Full batteries + oxygen with before attack (9 hours and 6 minutes exactly, unless there are passengers/spies/survivors it reduces it) with blue lights and silent running. An entire stack of cartridges in the vent, just in case even though I never have to use it.
Same with chief officers: two watchmen and one boatswain, although being on watch during the endgame is less useful because the Tunis RWR, because diving plan during the day to avoid intense air patrols with the snorkel on. With some hybrid tasks between them to keep navigation done as frequently as possible for more fuel economy.
Once the torpedos are maintained: the weapon specialist is on the commanding station for the damage bonus. The other mechanic officer supervises the dive planes (manual mode, it's a lot quieter), the last one on the engines.
Navigator on command station with three sailors for max efficiency in all the tasks speed and noise reduction, one on TDC and you the captain on the attack periscope/UZO.
When it's time to evade warships, two chiefs (three sailors assigned to each of them, six total) on commanding post for maximum noise reduction and task efficiency, mechanic on engines, other one prepared to assume commanding too in case I can foresee damage (he reduces internal damage by a percentage). The dive planes are still supervised by the other mechanic and hydrophone operator stays on his seat all the time unless injured crew. Always has 5 medkits on him because he can heal without it, but the perk makes it so he does it twice as fast with which can make the difference between a disabled crewman for the entirety of the patrol or get back to work fast.

How are u getting ur mods to work?, when they are outdated ?. I have all the same mods and they will not work for my game.
The "outdated" indicator in the launcher is largely meaningless, it just means the author doesn't list the particular version number of the game in the mods meta data. That has no impact on the actual compatibility.

Doesn't matter how much older Silent Hunter III is, Uboat can't reach its level.
SH3 vanilla is worse than Uboat by quite a margin. With GWX OneAlex then yes, it does things better and some worse.

They ARE being nice to each other. Those torpedoes are just little love-taps and the depth charges are party poppers! When ships sink it's really just them pretending to be submarines! See? All lovely and right with the world..awww!

This game is so cool but boat physics are not good they don’t compare to sh3. The sub looks like a uboat looks like it has no weight to it
The water and rigid body physics in this game are ... well, basic.
There have been attempts at physics overhauls in the modding community, but that broke as many things as it fixed. Let's hope the devs will adress this soon, I know they are capable.
