I just sold my T7 and looking to aquire myself a GSA1250. Been binge watching your videos for the past few days. Great stuff. Changing the rear tyre looks like a dream job. I usually change my own tyres, on the rim too, and fiddling with the rear brake caliper is always a bit of a headache when it comes to fitting everything back together again. Nice to see you basically just pop it back on and do the screws again.
i just did my first tire swap, coming from a tiger 1200 Rally explorer. The GS is so damn easy to work on I get done and I'm like "did i miss some steps here?"
@@useless274 Thats confidence inspiring. I did get a 1250 GS Adventure 2022, but the tires are brand spanking new so I'm just going to have to wait. :D
Thanks for you video. I took a bit longer than you - rewinding a few times make sure I didn’t miss anything- but you saved me £100, cheers 🍻 I also found you style helpful, informative without being patronising.
Great little tutorial. Thanks! I did get about 15,000 miles out of my Road 5’s but never really liked them. I got the left pulling issue as well and also had a weird harmonic resonance in 4th gear at lower revs. I’ve since gone with Anakee adventures and both issues are completely gone. Strange how tires can influence the riding experience so much.
Yes, I did the Brecon Beacons in Wales, last month, with the wife on the back and the bike was all lover the place at slow speed......possibly my crap riding though!
The 890R is an amazing bike. But sadly I just don't ride it enough and when I do....the 19 year old in me comes out and yeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa.....bye bye license 🙈
Nice how to video, thanks , seems very similar to the process on my R1200RS, which is good, no new methods to learn! Will be good to get an update on your opinion of these tyres after some decent mileage, they are certainly one I will consider when my Anarkees are worn down.
Great video as always. Will look at them tyres, was going for 6s. Can u show me the easiest way of putting that GS on its centre stand, you make it look so easy..😅
Interested to know how you get on with those tyres compared to the Michelin 6s…. I always take the rear spray guard off as well…. Gives a bit more room to play around.
Good vid, interested to know how you got the paddock stand to work with the gs would be a good advantage for my tight garage. Ps cracking dog 🐶 and don’t listen to people saying loads of meat left on the rear, I’ve done 100’s thousand of miles on all gs’s and squared off tyres are their nemesis, no idea why but handling goes to pot, unlike other bikes 😮
One more Great video, thanks a lot for that! I have a question, I have the same bike with the original shit Bridgestone, what do you think about the Michelin Road 6 and the Next 2? What is the best in your opinion?
Hi Paul. Just a quick question. Is the front paddock stand you use in your video the "Oxford Big Black Bike Front Paddock Stand" . Thanks in advance....1254 Paul
Is there no spacer for the right (non-abs-sensor) side? I just did my first swap and forgot to check for spacers. When I went to put them back in I had only one spacer. All my other bikes have had spacers on both sides. When the wheels off, I just put the calipers back on the forks with a couple turns on their bolts (obviously pop em back out when putting the wheel back on). No need for zip ties, I can't lose my bolts or forget how the abs bracket goes back on. For the 'brake squeeze' avoidance I put a hippo hand over the left handgrip until you're done. I have other friends who slide a shim into the caliper to keep spaced too.
Check that it's not in the wheel? Here's a link to spares for the front wheel for reference . www.bike-parts-bmw.com/bmw-motorcycle/R%201250/2017/R_1250_GS_19_-0J91_0J93_/Wheels-and-tyres/Spoke-wheel-front/9/36_1769/36/601210J91
Swapped the road 6's, although they were really good, but they veered to the left. No such thing with the new recently fitted metzeler Tourance next 2's , which are very impressive.
He can't help but to screw with things I am sure his dealer knows he is an easy mark. That rear no way needed replaced yet. That's what they probably told him. I am sure he begged them please I need to take something apart pretty please :)

Sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. Haha. I love to watch "professionals" teaching others. Man... you don't need to remove front brake callipers. Ohhh, well. 😉 Also, your real tyre has a lot of meat😂
Man you need glasses then , "professionals". When I'm not walking into doors and not at work ,then I just enjoy doing the RUclips thing. I am sure there are a few who have tried to take the front wheel off without removing the calibers and damaged their wheels. It's only a couple of minutes anyway. Oh well back to mechanics school for me then 😂 Appreciate you taking time to post 👍
@gsd32i I never heard of someone who damaged the wheels, removing them without removing callipers. Seriously, try next time. Apart from saving £40 you will save an extra few minutes😉
Just changed the wheels on my 24 GSA today with this video, cheers

Simple really, use correct footwear, not flip flops😂 and drive the foot into the stand as you pull the bike backwards.

@@gsd32i thanks. I think it's all in there. Definitely should have checked this out as soon as I'd pulled the wheels off...
How are the new tyres my 6s are coming to the end of life so need to change to some of the same or different?
TBH the R6 is a great tyre and if you are happy with it I would stick with that. thrashed mine and they didn't let go once.👍
How many miles did you get out of the 6s? Not many huh?
Front looked fine but rear squared off. 4500 miles.
I've 6s on my gs no complaints really ! Mines started to square off with 3k on it but still turns in nicely ❤
Did you really use a Tx 45 on your rear wheel bolts 😮 & not a Tx50 !
I definitely used the one that fitted correctly 👍
too much work for 40 quid, but great tutorial for those that like to get their hands dirty 😉
Thanks , plus you can give everything a proper clean too . Ride safe 👍
Fell for the RUclips hype and had road 6’s fitted to my 1250. Not been impressed with them from day one unfortunately
