  • Knot tying video tutorial. Learn how to a double alpine butterfly loop knot (alpine bunny ears). Easy step by step instructions in this guide.
Uses: Loops for more than one clip in point with a carabiner mid rope. Mid line loops for building mechanical advantage rigging systems. The extra loop essentially provides another "pulley".
Advantages: Secure double loops that can take multidirectional loads.

Thank you! This was the most helpful demo I’ve seen on this knot, and being left handed, it was easy for me to follow this.

At last an understandable version of a knot that could prove very useful, thank you

I've seen this done mirror image, which is difficult. This is much simpler with a better result. Well done.

The instructions are good and clear but there is no info on what this knot is good for. What would you use it for (vs another kind of knot)?

How much cordage do you use to practice your knots?

I'm curious what you'd use this for; when a regular single-loop alpine butterfly wouldn't be sufficient?

If you want more than one clip in point. Also for building rope mechanical advantage systems. It essentially adds another pulley. You can also use the double alpine butterfly to add a closed ring to the middle of a rope, which ill show in a later video.

For more pulldelay when hoisting a heavy weight. Orherwise you have to make twe single ones. I like this one. Maybe one loop a bit shorter than the other.

It is a nice not but.... it doesn't function the same as the single alpine butterfly, the loops can slide when weighed differently; one will become smaller and the other bigger. Yes, dressing and weighting equally does help with this, but the loops can still slide under unequal weight.
