That's correct. Manufacturers use pectin or vegetable gum as a natural adhesive. I'm told you can also use the same to repair a cigar that has loose wrapper leaves, though I've never attempted that myself. Thanks for watching the tour and we're glad you enjoyed it and took the time to comment.
They retail in the seventeen dollar range in the states where I live. That's out of my price range for a single smoke, so, for Placencia, I usually have a Reserva Original, which is a bit less expensive.
Thanks for that very interesting tour ! I wish i could go there ! I do love and enjoy a lot Plasencia 1898 and Reserva Orginal, which i'm lucky enough to find for a good price not far from my place in Switzerland.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and we're glad you enjoyed the tour. They're very hospitable there and they roll an amazing cigar. We're now down in Greece and I haven't seen an Plasencias here though I'll look in Athens when we arrive next week. As they say in Greece, Yamas! Kevin
We loved our tour of Plasencia but since we've now been here for 3 months we find we're running low on cigars. Time for a delivery! We have a contact at My Father's cigar, that may be our next.... any suggestions?
Glad you enjoyed it. I would recommend calling the factory directly to inquire. +505 2713 4074 Or contact our driver from the trip, Luis. Luis@pinolerotours.com I'm sure he can assist.
I've been out of Plasencia for a while now. Currently cruising down the coast of spain. I'll have to grab a box or two next time we're in Canada. Enjoy! Nothing beats a great cigar
@@SailingGargoyle If these are the Plasencia Reserva Original Cortez then they can actually be found in the USA for a box of 10 for $89 so thats a bad deal. Did you happen to get factory pricing on any other cigar boxes?
They'll likely be cheaper as the manufacturing zones require they be sold at retail price, I believe. It's been a few years. That said, they're a steal at either price. Just purchased a couple of Cohiba Siglos in Palma Mallorca and paid €70 a stick! But did really enjoy them.
That's an interesting question that I hadn't thought of. According to online research nicotine can be absorbed from the wrapper in the mouth without the cigar being lit so one would assume it could also be absorbed via the palms. So chewing on an unlit cigar is somewhere between smoking the cigars and chewing tobacco, perhaps?
@@SailingGargoyle possibly.... I never thought about it either until I watched this video and realized nobody is wearing gloves and that could be a large amount of nicotene absorbed in thier skin.
Great video, thanks! I'm currently in Mexico and planning a trip through Central America. How are the prices of cigars in Estelí compared to outside the city? Are they cheaper than abroad? Also, do you know if Nicaraguan cigars in Nicaragua are sold cheaper than elsewhere? Saludos desde Mexico!
Glad you enjoyed! Unfortunately the name brand cigars are produced in a tax free manufacturing zone. As such we were told they were sold at the factory at the full price. Still, has to the freshest cigars going! FYI, the Padron tour seemed impossible to get on though we did see a speciality guide that included such a tour. Finally you can buy inexpensive locally rolled cigars in Granada from Mombacho. They were worthy for the price as well. Enjoy!
I know they're able to be purchased easily in the US from what friends have said. They're also available from a number of online suppliers. Good luck, they're a very nice smoke.
We don't know but they seemed to be quite happy with very good rapport amongst the groups. We also noticed quite a few workers in wheelchairs at the various rolling stations which Iove to see as I have a brother with a disability and employment can be difficult.
Agreed and our apologies to the brands and our Spanish followers! But if you like that you should hear us trying to learn Portuguese here in Porto! Yikes!
Our apologies as we're aware now that our pronunciation was off. After seven months locked down in Nicaragua during COVID it has greatly improved. Note, we also spent three years listening to native speakers in Central America struggle and fail with Gargoyle. We would always say it and then accepted their version, knowing there was no disrespect meant by an honest attempt.
Yes, that tends to get us the greatest amount of feedback on RUclips, even three years later. Love their cigars nearly as much as your great comment. Thanks for watching and tksimg the time to comment. Ciao from Tunisia Kevin and Carla
Imagine smoking 8 cigars a day! Wow. Plasencia 149 is one of my favs
They make great cigars. Some of my personal favorites as well.
When she mentioned glue, it isn't traditional glue. It is a food grade adhesive made from vegetables . Thanks for the tour.

Plasencia reserva 1898 Salomones. Great cigar.
Excellent tip! I'll look for them.

Today, I've got the Plasencia 146 cosecha la musica, robusto. It was a great smoke.

Did he say $110 for the box? Is that the price in Cordoba? That's a very good price if so
It was pretty affordable but this was back in 2020 when everything was more affordable.

@@ticketscanada916 still not bad compared to what I have to pay in Canada.
Understand that! My home shop is City Cigar in Vancouver.
Doesn't the nicotene absorb into the employees hands from working with the leaves all day? Or isn't the nicotene released till it's lit?

Muchas gracias. Nos encantó esteli y Haley fue la mejor guía de todos los tiempos.
Como podré comprar cigars desde Estelí?
Donde vives? La mayoría de las marcas que encuentras que se fabrican en Nicaragua provienen de Estelí.

Pronounce Placensia not Palencia! 😉
Correct! Carla tends to channel her Italian heritage when speaking Spanish. No matter how they're pronounced though, they make a fabulous cigar.
Como el tabaco cubano nada olvídense de todos los inventos
También me gusta el cubano, pero encuentro que la calidad de los cigarros nicaragüenses es la mejor.
