I rewatched as it's been a few years but I believe you're seeing the main sheet block that's attached between our boom brake and the vang attachment point. The block for the vang only goes one way. Looking up at it thru skylight now. Hope that answers the question. If not, let me know. Cheers from Malta!

When we had to replace our house batteries in 2021 we were in Costa Rica and the supply chain was still impacted by COVID. We made the decision to go with Lifeline AGMs that have powered us across the Pacific, down from Scotland to where we sit anchored in Greece. We'll expect at least another five years out of them so they've been a fantastic investment. When we did the math on the cost of a conversion to Lithium (Gargoyle is a 2011) and added in the costs of getting the components to Costa Rica at that time, we could have invested the difference in a dividend stock and paid for each subsequent replacement with the proceeds. Will we replace next time with Lithium? Yes, if it makes financial sense at the time.

I've had 5 Lifeline 110's AGM's running since 2012. Very happy with them. Doubt I could afford them next time tho as price has gone through the roof 😖

It's the Plastimo Echotest. We've used it for years and I actually had to Google it's name as the label is worn off. Still works brilliantly and you'll see us using it in Scotland again last year. Well made gadget for sure.

But when you do, make sure you do it twice! 😉

Our Go SIM from Malta had some roaming EU data on it so it was good until we were able to get a TIM SIM. Bus out of Marina di Ragusa will drop you at the mall so you can get a SIM.

@@SailingGargoyle thanks for your answer! Btw, I'm planning to sail to Malta at the end of August, do you reckon that Manoel Island Marina is the right choice, considering that is not so close to town?

@aldobezzicheri6473 we found it to be convenient as there is a ferry a quick walk away as well as every imaginable shop and resteraunt steps away. We thought it the perfect balance as you can also walk around Manoel Island and it's so peaceful. And then the marina staff. They are incredible. We've never experienced service like that, anywhere. Helps make up for the somewhat dated facilities. Santi, the manager, will do anything to make your stay a success.

The Grotto is a must see dinner stop for the food and location. Honestly though, every place we went in Malta was amazing. Can't wait to return to further explore.
