    I've just got my copy of In Memoriam by Alice Winn. Can't wait to read this book. Sounds great. All the books you mentioned in this video sound amazing. Quartet is one I would definitely like to read as I love music. As a result of this video I've ordered a copy of The World and All That It Holds. I told my local independent book store yesterday I was only getting the book as you raved over it and I do trust your opinions. The owner of the bookshop said In Memoriam is fantastic and makes you cry.

    Just finished In Memorium, I devoured it in two days, it is stunning! This book will make you weep, laugh with joy, weep again and shake you to your core. I think it is my personal favourite for the Booker this year, I cannot imagine another book moving me so. You will love it!

      I couldn’t have said it better myself. It is a stunning book, beautifully written. A whirlwind of emotions. Dry wit to devastating sadness and loss held together with love in the truest sense. It is early but I think this will be my book of the year as, like you, I can’t imagine reading anything else which could touch me so.

    Loved Future Fish! Hilarious quirky surreal Irish comedy and great to have a fun novel with a gay lead - and great cover too!

    I've read two others by Angela Saini, Inferior and Superior, both were very detailed and scientific but also very readable, some jaw dropping moments and times where things really clicked into place! Will definitely be looking forward to The Patriarchs

    I know we shouldn't judge a book by its cover but the cover of Shankari Chandran's novel is stunning!

    Love hearing the shout-out for the independent bookseller. It's quite frustrating the amount of people who buy their books from highly unethical massive companies like Amazon. I buy a lot of mine from Biblio here in New Zealand, or from physical shops around the city. Book Depository is also great, though it's a larger company, it has free shipping to anywhere in the world and I can at least know that they treat their workers well and pay fairly

    I read Maps of our spectacular bodies the last year, I really enjoyed the book. The book is well-written. However, in my humble opinion the present time is more interesting than the past present. It's a heartbreaking tale

    • @EricKarlAnderson
      @EricKarlAnderson  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I agree that the scenes in the present felt more effective and moving. But the importance of this past took on more meaning later in the book in a way I found interesting.

    I'm currently reading The Caretakers by Amanda Bestor-Siegal. It's set in France after the 2016 terrorist attacks, and follows six different women in the au pair world. I'm about halfway through and loving it so far

    I have nearly finished All that’s left unsaid by Tracey Lien which is on the Stella longlist. It’s very good. Then on to a couple more before tacking the Women’s Prize longlist.

    Very exciting about your Bookshop spotlight! Hearing very good things about The Gospel According to the New World (even apart from the International Booker long listing). And very tantalizing about In Memoriam, which is a book I am very eager to read.
