The reason for the 2nd attack run feeling a bit off (pipper coming up so late) was, that you selected "MK-82 H" on the RIO ballistics selection (which is high drag bombs). Turning it to "MK-82 L" would have solved that problem. :) You're attack angle was so steep that you hit anyway though, so no harm done!
Thanks for the tutorial, I finally figured it out. The first mode you didn't mention when exactly to hold and release the pickle, but now I realise it is always between the two que lines. Cheers!
A fun thing with lofting, you can do it on targets with laser guided bombs if a helicopter is designating the target. It’s a ton of fun to launch from behind a mountain and have the helicopter guide it in.
Hello, thanks Jabbers! But have you noticed that you could turn on the TV to greatly help your target designation in CCRP mode? It is indeed slaved to the HUD diamond in this configuration!
Pretty sure you selected Mk 82 high-drag (snake eyes) on the armament panel, which is why it took so long for your pipper to pop up on the second pass and the bombs fell long. The computer thought you were dropping different bombs.
@@Jabbers Thought it was worth mentioning in case some other people had questions about it. You're an awesome pilot, so it's definitely not a mark against you - I've made mistakes in some tutorials in my other channel myself so I know we can't be 100% perfect all the time. Keep kicking ass, man!
Great video! Is there a way to designate a target by means of a waypoint (e.g., WP1, WP2, WP3, IP, ST, FP)? Thank you for your continued support to the community. Furthermore, it would be interesting to test out lofting laser guided bombs, with terminal guidance being provided by ground assets. I suppose the range would be substantial, considering you could be well over Mach 1.
@@JabbersDid not know that. Thank you so much. On a side note, it seems, from what I researched, that the F-14D could and did, in fact, deploy JDAMs in this way. In any case, thank you for the great video once again.
@@MrCyclos1985 Well, the -D had massively upgraded avionics, including GPS integration, so it would make sense to have that capability. But the only way to compensate for INS drift in the -A/-B is either RADAR fixes, fly-over fixes, or TACAN updating; you can use waypoint navigation to fly to the target, but you still have to fix/range with the RADAR and the HUD cursor for computer-guided bombing (offset or direct).
Thanks for these quick tips, first week of this thing has been the most learning I've done for a module in a long time! Do have a quick question though, why is bomb mode for the wing sweep a thing? I know the when/how, I just dunno the "why", unless it's something as simple as just a way to lock the wings so your trim doesn't go hugely out of whack while you're trying to run in?
As far as i know it is because the manuvering flaps are deactivated in bombing wing sweep, so the ccip pipper is not affected by any changes of the flaps. Pls correct me if im wrong :D
its because it locks the wings back and when the wings retract past 55 degrees (I think its 55, don't quote me, but its not important haha) the manuevering flaps/slats etc are also locked. that's why its the most stable configuration.
Great video as always, I'd just apprecieate if you could up all those at higher resolutions. I know you did already in some cases, which is great. 1920x810 in combination with that wide FOV makes it hard to follow sometimes as the vital parts are just tiny. Higher res makes it possible to watch through VLC and just crop the image to 16:9 or 16:10 without losing image quality. Scaling 810px up however just blurs things up. And I guess that would look a lot better on 21:9 screens as well :) Too bad we can't target waypoints as seen in the videos prior to hte release, but understandable due to the INS precision. Now bring on the Tornado IDS in a few years, HB ;D
It should be 1440p not 810, I have an ultrawide 3440x1440p which is what I’m recording in, cutting the sides is tough cause the view ends up looking really zoomed in which I’m not always a fan of, and I have to be conscious of screen space while recording to make sure what I’m talking about is in view, pros and cons to both sides
Great vid Jabbers! I have an issue though. As soon as I press PAL after adjusting the CCRP pipper to desired target location it just moves it completely off to the side of the HUD. As if the location is off or something. Also one of the needles in my compass keeps spinning and I cant seem to figure out why. EDIT I just tried in PG instead of nevada and everything worked fine.. hmm
On the BDHI ("compass"), the needle is constantly spinning because you don't have a TACAN station dialed up, so the spin lets you know that you're not getting any TACAN info.

actually, there was a little mistake in your first rio setup. you selected mk-82-H which stands for high drag (mk82 witch chutes) so your bombs did hit because you were on a very steep dive. You saw your pipper appeared very late because it though you had mk-82-air on board.
Hey Jabbers, thank you again for your videos. Is it possible to pre-planned a Computer-Target on a steerpoint? Isn't it the idea behind the "surface target" markpoint ?
Well that was exact the same Question i wanted to ask.... :D I assume this is also with manual surface traget and jester possible... but how to tell the computer to use this reference as target? Thanks in advance Jabbers
As far as I know, this is not the case. There is the CMPTR IP ATTK MODE, which the RIO can select, which is a way to designate a target via the Initial Point, set via the CAP. To use this the RIO first sets up the IP, then there's an option in the CAP which is called something like "IP TO TGT" and the RIO can designate the target, starting with the Initial Point and then setting the elevation difference, heading and range from the IP, all using the CAP. If you go by the manual this seems to be a way to help the pilot pick out a target if he is unable to get a visual on it. the IP is supposed to be an outstanding landmark. So it's probably not your primary way to attack a target.
Herr KaLeun when using that mode you basically have to designate the ip the same way you would a regular ccrp attack and then the computer moves the actual designated point to the new one based on what you entered into the cap

You can’t yet cause he doesn’t use the LANTIRN
Yeah it's impossible atm, though I found a mod that allows you to bind the LANTIRN to the pilot seat, so you can use it with Jester. Let me look for the link.
That would explain why my hour of flying around yelling at Jester yielded zero results. Thanks for the quick replies everyone!
@Ryan Lynch that feature is getting patched out, I don’t suggest getting use to it
@@Jabbers How soon though? Like next hotflix or a month out?

You say open the menu but you don't say what key it is in you know basic stuff ;)
Hi Jabbers, I find your videos very helpful, but I have to make one remark; in all of your videos you have a habit of using "go ahead and...." A LOOOOT. In this video, I have counted you saying "go ahead" THIRTY THREE times, which is practically two times per minute. There really is no need for this and it gets really tedious once you start noticing this... I hope you find a way of reducing this habit somewhat as the videos are really great content-wise... Don't mean to rant or anything, but I am sure you can further improve the quality of your work by paying attention to this.
I’ll go ahead and work on that!
Click bait.... -1 sub lol
Seeing an F-14 loaded with bombs is a sad thing...
